What Is This?! | Yeah... but the comics were made by only 2 of the 3 heads of the show. It sorta shows, too. They're like The Beatles. Good by themselves, but only truly excellent together. There's good characters and great action, but it lacks the... scope and gravitas of the original show. I think the third guy was responsible for that, seeing as he went on to make The Dragon Prince, a show with _fantastic_ scope, but kinda lacking in character and action. Meanwhile the other two made Legend of Korra, a show with fun characters and awesome action, but absolutely 0 cohesion to pull it all together.

@@PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth I used to think that the seasons in Korra were sorta disconnected, but after rewatching it on netflix I've changed my opinion. It doesn't have the cohesion of Aangs story, but each season is affected by the previous one, and I feel that the world evolves organically and more significantly than the original.

Iroh is my favorite character and his tale just spoke with me on an emotional level. His happiness and willingness to help others because he doesn't want others to hurt the way his son did. He never had the chance to tell the little soldier boy to come marching home, and the boy never got to come home. But Zuko is undoubtedly the second best, especially since Zuko is the second best character

That song at the end of "The tales of Ba Sing se" was so beautiful and had so many layers. It wasn't just a tribute to Mako, it was from what I've been told the last audio clip they got from Mako of him singing to himself after because he knew he was going to die from Cancer so that crying was actual crying. The new voice actor for the uncle said hed never sing that song on the show because that was Mako's song. The image of the uncle's son was actually a portrait of Mako that he got in his youth. And it's also just an amazing scene for that character and makes me cry every time i hear it (no joke)

it's incredibly powerful and shows the confidence the writers have in themselves, to do an entire episode centered around a non-human character who has no audible thoughts, no speech, not even a human-analogue face to read. They believed in the strength of their writing and the animation team and it payed off powerfully, as such things do when made well. I outright cried for a nonexistent animal's pain because they took such care to characterize him

I still see Iroh’s tale the best because it shows him helping a young boy, adolescent boys, and a young man, the stages of life that his son was able to live through. Everyone knows that the final scene is a masterpiece but it becomes so much deeper when you connect it to him helping these boys/ men. He is the ideal male role model that he couldn’t be for his own son. As a young man with good male role models in my life, I wouldn’t be the same man without them. Just as Iroh isn’t the same man without his son.

And it only reinforces Iroh's relationship with Zuko. Its easy to see why Iroh continues to be this good male role model even after it can't help his son, and that's because he likely feels he can be that for Zuko; he can help Zuko where he failed his son. These are some of the reasons I love the relationship between Iroh and Zuko, one of the best in the series. In any series, really.

I have to say without a doubt. My favorite moment of this episode is when Katara tells Toph that she thinks she’s beautiful. Why is this so important? We know that Toph can feel the earth and use that to tell whether or not someone is lying. So this is my favorite moment because Toph can tell that even if those girls from earlier think she was ugly, Katara thinks she is beautiful. And it wasn’t just a lie to make her feel better, Katara genuinely believes that Toph is beautiful and that is just such a beautiful moment.

On the point of Zuko eventually helping Aang, The Western Air Temple is massively slept episode on as well. Seeing Zuko getting rejected (at first) by team Avatar while (we the audience) knowing that he’s finally switched sides is most of the most heartbreaking scenes in the show that no one talks about (even though the Gaang’s initial reaction is justified). I also like how even after he’s accepted into the Gaang, most of them still don’t fully trust him (except Toph, who knew that Zuko was being sincere cuz she can read heart palpitations). Which acts as a great setup for the next few episodes where he helps Aang, Sokka, and Katara and becomes a member of the Gaang.

A lot has already been said about Iroh grieving for his son, my take I would say is a little more multifaceted, Iroh was swept up in the war and fought along his son, he was a honored general and commanded thousands for the sake of the fire nation, in some regards he was quite a decorated leader. War comes at a cost and Iroh lost his son, a part of Iroh was lost that day as well and stricken with grief knowing he couldn't have saved his only child he lost his touch being a general but not a fighter. When tasked to look over his nephew Zuko the years of searching for the avatar and war efforts being made something changed in Iroh he saw Zuko going down a dark path, Zuko was obsessed with appeasing a system the he now saw as not as mighty as he once thought, with age, grief and discipline Iroh knew he had a second chance and to save Zuko from himself before the war took him as well. Even when Zuko abandoned him Iron knew his allgence was to Zuko and too what his late son stood for not died for too family. Thats what I feel Iroh was going through by the end of the show he wanted to save the last shred of innocence Zuko had and keep him from becoming the monster his brother become or dying for a father than never really loved him. In the end Uncle Iroh was Zukos real father and writing all of this is nearly bringing me to tears so I'm gonna stop now. Have a good day.

Getting to see zuko being aloud to be a normal teen for just a little bit and having to admit that he actually enjoyed doing something frivolous. Looking sad bc he's convinced he shouldn't want it. The tale of Iroh is hands down the best 5 minutes of cinema ever released to the public. It shows Iroh just going about his day doing Iroh things until that gut wrenching moment. The way that Iroh sings "Leaves from the vine" to that little boy implies that he sang it to his own son. On its own the tale of Iroh may be second best, but when you take it into context with the whole rest of the series it is undeniably the best. Iroh was once a warmongering general that knocked down the walls of Ba' Sing' Se' but after the death of his son he went home to mourn. This mourning continued for the rest of his life and now, he is mourning it once again, not just normally but at the place of his son's death. It is heartbreaking and undeniably the pinnacle of cinema .

Also, The people Iroh helps are all representatives of different stages of his sons life. He helps a young child, a teenager, and then a young adult. He helps them because he wasn't there for his own son. It provides great insight into Irohs character arc, which was mostly complete by the time the series starts

I hate how it’s reflected and Zuko’s scar is on the right side of his face. It’s funny in “The Ember Islands Players,”. But it’s just weird here.

Now that he has done this, he must now look into a show that has a confusing reputation....... The Legend of Kora.

Season 1's love rectangle was annoying and the ending is a total cop out Season 2 is absolute garbage trashfire in it's entirety Season 3 is okay Season 4 starts out promising but ends on a very woefully disappointing note.

@@megabuster3940 Add in some boring/practically non-existent character arcs, repeated moments of forgetting their own lore and the fact that Sokka is dead and you got about everything wrong with Korra.

Legend of Korra did a lot of things wrong, but it also did a lot of things right, and I feel like it doesn’t get enough credit as a whole. It was never going to equal TLA. The bar was set too high.

Meddadius id personally say its wrongs outweigh its rights by far. Amazing music, amazing animation... but shitty characters (exception: Tenzin and his family), shitty plots, shitty lore, constantly breaking its rules and lore set up in the previous series, etc. I could go on. I wanted to like Korra, but right now it stands at a solid “Meh...” for me.
