i've heard people say that the game's conclusion would be better if alice and jasper were swapped, and i agree. you kill the man who ruined your life and are now only one kill from the top once more. your final opponent? someone trapped in the same cycle, killing out of necessity. the wacky final boss is a series staple, but the swap would do a lot for the themes of the cycle of revenge and the inhumanity of the assassin's league.

And when you consider the existence of the first game and how THAT got extended beyond the final rank, it might have done 2 the missing extended finale of Travis “getting that tap” that would be a lot fitting than the abrupt end that we got.

7:33 About that... He actually does fight off those "ringpiece goons"... during the first phase. Of course, Jasper goes down so quickly by that point that most people don't notice it.

Grevious in the original 2003 series was actually pretty boss, especially if you go by his original EU backstory, so it doesn't surprise me that a boss based on him works well. 2:39

Ah, a list I can actually (mostly) agree with. Hell yeah! I can’t wait for you guys to make on for NMH3 or maybe even TSA. My personal thoughts: -Alice might not just be the best boss in the series, but in video games as a whole for me. While it’s important to know your enemy you can’t help but sympathize her, especially considering her death is a literal tragedy; she knows that going up against Travis is hopeless for her, she knows she’d be defeated in battle, yet she puts up a tough fight anyway, and accepts her death so easily when she’s finally done. Her absolutely banger theme also represents this in a way, it’s a somber ballad theme with some hardcore drum beats with a hint of suspenseful tones, which adds to the whole “I know I’m going to die, but I’m going to fight anyway” mindset (the drums symbolizing the intense fight, the jarring tones as the inevitability of her demise, the the piano medley as the tragedy as a whole.) She’s clearly been in the assassin position for a long time to be such a broken woman. Also, I think her design is fucking badass - her beam katana armor thing is that of a scorpion, with a tail on the end and everything. It’s so fucking cool -Its an odd but genius idea to make the final boss as hatable as possible; everything about Jasper Batt Jr. is deplorable from his color scheme to the weird tattoo on his head to his cracky 12 year old voice and appearance. He’s literally just Bowser Jr. but more annoying and way uglier than that monster. -For a really weird reason I had absolutely no trouble with Jasper’s 2nd phase. I died once by falling out the window, and immediately told myself, “oh, the windows are just an immediate death trap. I’ll just avoid the windows as much as possible, easy.” And had it from there. What the fuck -I don’t know who on the team in their right mind thought that platforming was a good idea in this game. Million gunman, while kinda cool, is forgettable except for how terrible the stage is. -I personally prefer the Japanese version of Margaret’s theme, but they’re both pretty fucking awesome. I listen to both an equal amount. -Dr Letz Shake, Alice, Jasper’s 1st phase and Skelter Helter have probably the best boss fight themes in all of history. period. -I’m not surprised that Travis has a bukakke fetish. Lol

I’ve recently got and finished with No More Heroes 2 and I think it’s a great sequel; So much so that I actually don’t know if I prefer it over the original or not. Anyway here’s my ranking on al the bosses in No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. 15. *Jasper Batt Jr.* For a final boss this was a really sour way to end the game; I’m aware this was meant to be a terrible, but if Suda wanted it to be like this, why couldn’t he be optional as supposed to monitory in order to beat the game? 14. *Million Gunman* Bland character check, garbage platforming check, annoying attack pattern check, terrible boss fight check. 13. *New Destroyman* While Destroyman is still a really entertaining character, the boss fight has left to be desired, it’s the same problems I had with the gameplay of Million Gunman’s fight, but with two bosses to deal with instead of one. 12. *Cloe Walsh* The perfect example of a pushover. 11. *Matt Helms* Texas Flamethrower massacre coming out in theaters 2022! Jokes aside I don’t that much to say about Matt Helms I think his character is interesting but that’s about it. 10. *Kimmy Howell* My experience was different from yours where I fought her with normal attacks (with the Rose Nasties no less) and I liked it decently; The fight itself isn’t anything special admittedly, but I really liked her character as I thought she was Amy Rose (from the Sonic franchise) done right. 9. *Mimmy* While I find it a bit disappointing how Henry is only used for boss fight status; I still think it’s a fun but relatively short boss. 8. *Charlie Macdonald* It’s pure mindless spectacle I can’t help but really love as well as it being a very unique boss. 7. *Dr. Letz Shake* All I have to say is that this is Speed Buster done correctly. 6. *Skelter Helter* Overall similar to Death Metal I think he’s a really solid first boss they probably contains my personal favorite finisher in the series. 5. *Margaret Moonlight* Philistine! do I need to say more? Ok I’ll go into more detail than that; while the song is very catchy; the fight itself is pretty good but kinda annoying thanks to shooting at you like a maniac most of the time but aside from that small annoyance it’s a really good boss. 4. *Nathan Copeland* For a second boss I didn’t expect his fight to be as chaotic as it ended up being but I’m glad he was considering he perfectly shows how different the bosses in NMH2 are from the original; Nathan Copeland himself is actually a pretty great character as well he reminds me of a more spunky version of Death Metal. 3. *Ryuji* Ignoring the garbage motorcycle phase the fight with Ryuji himself is actually great; It felt like a balanced fight between two equals that never felt unfair to me. 2. *Captain Vladimir* Even though he’s really easy, Captain Vladimir is still a really great boss that offers a beautiful atmosphere, flashy gameplay, as well with Captain Vladimir being a very tragic character. 1. *Alice Twilight* Pretty much take everything I loved about Holly Summers and Henry from the first game, combine them into one, dose it up with steroids, and you get my personal favorite boss in series from what I’ve played so far.

I think this is the NMH-game with the biggest difference in quality between the good bosses and the bad. The other games have bosses that are mostly either incredibly good (NMH1 and TSA) or kinda bad (NMH3). NMH2's bosses are all over the place though, with both some of the best _and_ worst bosses in the entire franchise. I still think the good outweighs the bad by a substantial margin, but it's still interesting that this is the one game in the series to have such a huge difference in quality with it's boss fights.

NMH2 is actually my favorite game in the series oddly enough, although 1 isn’t far behind. I didn’t really enjoy the gameplay of TSA but played it for the plot, and I was honestly sort of disappointed by 3. It’s still good overall, but the writing was awful imo and the way they handled Henry and Destroyman as well as the excessive amount of Letz Shaking bothered me. No stages made me sad too. I’ll cover it soon enough with a full video

@@Cytonox I can totally respect that. My favorite is still the original, but NMH2 is in a very close second place, in large part because I think it's the most well-designed game in the franchise in terms of gameplay. TSA was a fantastic game from a writing perspective, but it doesn't quite live up to the first two since the gameplay is so... meh. I fully agree on NMH3 being disappointing by the way, easily the worst game in the series for me, with abysmal writing and disappointing design-choices. Also, looking forward to that NMH3 video!

Oh, and while I'm here, this is my own ranking of the bosses: 15. *Million Gunman* 14. *Cloe Walsh* 13. *Jasper Batt Jr.* 12. *Charlie MacDonald* 11. *Kimmy Howell* 10. *Matt Helms* 9. *Ryuji* 8. *New Destroyman* 7. *Nathan Copeland* 6. *Skelter Helter* 5. *Captain Vladimir* 4. *Mimmy* 3. *Dr. Letz Shake* 2. *Alice Twilight* 1. *Margaret Moonlight* The top 5 in particular are absolutely amazing, and some of my favorite bosses from any game series ever.

Never seen anyone rank Dr Letz Shake that high, it’s neat to see a rare opinion. Definitely one of the most iconic characters in the series imo even if I didn’t find his fight to be extremely fun

@@Cytonox I know the fight is really repetitive and kinda easy, but I just have so much fun with it still, chasing the mad doctor around the arena just somehow never gets boring for me. Totally get why it's not for everyone though. For me it helps that the boss theme is kickass (though that goes for most of the NMH2 bosses), and that the cutscene is one of the funniest boss interactions in the entire series. Plus, it was just such a cool surprise to see him again, he definitely wasn't a character I ever expected to show up again.

I found that the best way to deal with new destroy man, was to beat the shit outta the ground one, and then guard- dog the body to bring the one in the air to you. Its my personal favorite fight.

My list would be: 15. New Destroyman 14. Jasper Batt Jr. 13. Million Gunman 12. Matt Helms 11. Kimmy Howell 10. Charlie Macdonald 9. Chloe Walsh 8. Mimmy 7. Ryuji 6. Dr. Letz Shake 5. Captain Vladmir 4. Margaret Moonlight 3. Alice Twilight 2. Skelter Helter 1. Nathan Copeland While I agree that from a narrative standpoint, Alice is a great boss, I feel the fight itself isn't very fun, especially with how she can stun lock you with her thrown katanas.

The problem is given that Alice was ranked 2nd, it stands to reason that she has killed god knows how many people to the point where she can't leave because of all those deaths weighing on her conscious, even going as far as burning away her old photos of her old life before becoming as assassin. Travis on the other hand reached the top as a means to get revenge on his parents' killer, and to get himself laid as a bonus... which he got. He didn't really care too much about the people he killed, which made it easy for him to drop his #1 spot, something that the other assassins didn't believe could happen. All of them either embraced their dark sides, fed into their bloodlust, enjoyed the thrill of the kill, were already dangerous psycho killers, or were simply in too deep. Alice was no longer a wife, a mother, a woman, not even a person. She was a killer, and that's all she could ever be... An assassin.
