@felixftw4702 idk how you're confused. Mario 1, Lost Levels(shit was hard which is why people don't like it), and Mario 2 were superb games. BUT, Mario 3 stepped it up and it was amazing from then on out. So if you look at the entire catalog, the first few are "okay" in comparison. But by themselves or more so, back in the day when they were the only ones, they were amazing. Still wonderful games, but they've outdone their selves. So it's not that they weren't good, it's that they got better. And that's a good thing

You forgot Yoshi's Story: Super Mario World 2, and it's like Super Mario Bros 2 sequel in the west in it's easier and more cartoony than it's previous game and changes up the gameplay a lot, but it's not a reskin so it's nearly on par with the original SMW.

@@BluePhoenix559 and the flying squirrel and the leaf are different, the squirrel allows you to double jump and glide, the leaf allows u to fly thru the whole level if u have enough running space. Two dif powerups my guy

Yeah! Tell about it! All the NSMB games are fun to play. But the artstyle of those games was just so plain, generic, and didn't age well. It was great when it was new. But lost it's charm the more they used it in like, every...single...traditional 2D Mario. So glad they finally did away with it. Wonder's artstyle is so much better. However, I hope that style doesn't end up getting overused too.

@@luigi6290 It's not that I don't like the New Super Mario Bros. series games at all. It's more that their just not as great as a couple or few of the classics. I''m sorry I was a little too harsh. But in my defense the video did place games with an artstyle that was only good in the 2000's but since grown quite stale. That's literally the whole reason why Wonder became a thing and why it so long for a new main series 2D game to finally happen. The NSMB style was just overused that got old. That's why it felt like such an insult to me for such games with overused graphics to be ranked as the GOAT. Ranking such games is a joke! That's like ranking the newer Paper Mario games like Sticker Star, Color Splash, and Origami King over the older games like the first two games over that newer games have "better graphics" and that they're newer. There's a word for that you know. I believe it's called recency bias! Or, in this case, more like graphical bias.

Well, not many people care about graphics as you do. While I do agree, the NSMB Style was overused and got old. There are many other factors in a game for it to be considered good, other than just graphics. Maybe people liked the game because of its level designs and the abundance of secret exits and star coins or maybe because it was the first actual 2D Mario game since 1992, or maybe because of its unique castle boss fights other than just the koopalings. I’m not saying it’s better than super mario wonder, it’s not. But I do agree with your point about super Mario land, his ranking honestly made me a bit mad.

@@luigi6290 Fair point. But yeah, I do feel that maybe had the latter NSMB games been their own uniquely styled Super Mario Bros. games, it'd be easier to appreciate the experience they offer more. Nobody likes when the same artstyle is used over and over again. We literally got Wind Waker because Aonuma was afraid that people would get tired of the Ocarina of Time style. And the negative feedback on the NSMB artstyle due to it's overuse proved him right in my opinion.
