Queen Mary is very elegant and her dress style is timeless classic chic. With King Frederick a bit of eye candy, they are a striking couple. We Aussies 🇦🇺 are very proud of Mary. I see many similarities between Queen Mary and Catherine Princess of Wales, both beautiful, intelligent, passionate about their roles and coming from similar backgrounds to fall in love with the future King and be Queen. That's the essence of a fairytale.

I agree that the denim skirt look should be high up on the list. That is casual chic done to perfection. I also like the way she reworks some of her gowns. It shows a respect for her people in that she spent a lot on the gowns and can wear them again just like the average citizen wears an outfit many times over. This is in direct contrast to some faux royal celebrities who throw money into expensive outfits and look very average to awful. It’s all about style, taste, and fit-not $.

As a Dane, I love and admire the Royal Family, both the older and younger generations. I smile every time I read, that, 'Queen Mary looks so much like Catherine, PoW' It's funny, bc Mary Donaldson, became Crown Princess Mary, first of the two, and has a few years more experience, of the two women. Catherine looks akin to Mary, and bc of their body types & coloring, they are often styled quite similarly... The only major difference is in their height, where Catherine, the PoW, is taller. I love the casual cross bag look and both of the galla looks...quite difficult to choose between them. hello from Denmark 🌸

I loved the blouse & pale blue check skirt outfit & like you, Brittany, the navy skirt & blouse with cross body bag. I'm not a skirt kind of girl, I live in jeans as it suits my lifestyle but those looks made me wish I needed to wear skirts again. Too many years ago I did wear skirts to the office but I hated it as it was, if in today's world you can believe it, stipulated women could not wear trousers to work, so for me skirts became a bit of a drag to wear, but those were fabulous.

I’m a devotee of cross body bags, but they don’t always work. I have a larger bust, so the strap always emphasises my boobs and creates fitting issues with tops. I choose to ignore it, in favour of having both my hands free. Mary has a more average bust, so the strap doesn’t create half a raunchy bodice 😂. Her shirt was plain so the strap wasn’t messily pinning a lapel to her chest, or any kind of ruffle. It wasn’t causing it to gape open, or dragging down a shoulder. As far as cross body bags go that was perfectly executed and as dignified as a cross body gets.

The reason Mary's cross-body bag works and Meghan's doesn't is size and style. Mary's is a small saddlebag style. Meghan's is a large top handle bag. One is sleek the other quite overwhelming.

The Akubra hat Mary is wearing in your no 2 pick is the brand of hats Meghan and Harry were gifted on the Australian tour. Our wonderful Governor General and his wife presented them one each and they looked physically repulsed and refused to wear them. So incredibly rude, but such beautiful hats and very expensive.

What is the purpose of this tour? Meaning in the UK they go to the common wealth and highlight needs or charities or amazing people. Also keeping good relations with the leaders of these countries. Trade etc. Even when they go to places like France or like Iran.... Maybe keeping good relations talking about trade.... But why would royalty from Denmark go to Sweden? Who has a royal family? Do you know the reasons of these tours?

Um, general goodwill and strengthening the bonds between the countries, maybe?

It’s like all royal tours, strengthening bonds and solidifying relationships. The respective Swedish and Danish governments signed a trade deal during the visit. They are quite close nations, and all three royal families, from Norway, Sweden and Denmark are related. All royals do State Visits, but usually only the Brits make the broader news. I explain how royal tours generally work here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gnmuy6yonbWxiqQ.htmlsi=69qsWaoJ-eGwKFDq and kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z3ppt5ulpK2ziaQ.htmlsi=-o6JVZkb5V13K6MD. I read that it's tradition for Danes to visit their Scandinavian neighbors at the start of the Sailing Season, and Fred & Mary decided to do these as their first State Visits as Monarchs. Plus it was a good opportunity to mark their 20th wedding anniversary.

The bond between the Scandinavian royal families and countries in general, is very special. Particularly cemented by the family relations there are between these three, which even though all three have family ties to the British and other royal families as well, is very different. And it all comes down to how the history between them can be summed up. Here we have three countries with a very VERY complicated history between them. Having fought each other over territories and control over each other. From the brutal rivalries that go back to the Viking Age. Denmark and Norway joining in a dual monarchy that lasted over 400 years. To the Kalmar Union, that saw a century of somewhat peace, that fell apart rather abruptly. To 250 years of constant war and conflicts between Denmark and Sweden, with Norway caught in the middle. Culminating with Denmark being forced to give up Norway after the Napoleonic Wars, who then entered a union with Sweden that lasted until Norway gaining independence in 1905. And the rivalries finally ending with the marriage union in 1869 between then Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (became King Frederik the VIII in 1906) and Princess Lovisa of Sweden (the person whom we can thank for, that jewels like the rubies and the Pearl Poiré came to Denmark). The marriage union began to repair the relationship between Denmark and Sweden, and aside from the royal relations, it also improved the international relations in terms of cooperation and trade. Developing over time to the relationship there is to this day. And when Norway became independent in 1905, they democratically elected the second son of Frederik and Lovisa as their new King. Being a descendant of both the Danish and Swedish royal houses, it brought in the Norwegians into the fold automatically, and it was already clear by WWI, that the three would internationally stand together as a united front, because the three Kings declared together, that their countries were neutral in the war. A union that stands to this day, because the three, along with Iceland and Finland, have more than once declared together, they will protect each other’s interests and sovereignty. King Harald’s grandfather, and King Frederik’s grear-grandfather were brothers. King Carl Gustaf’s father and King Frederik’s grandmother were brother and sister. The family relations are close and it has been important for a long time, that these relations are promoted. And it’s done very early in the reign of a new monarch with the tradition of the new monarch of either Denmark, Norway or Sweden to make their State visit to these their first as the new monarch. Usually it would be in accordance with seniority, that the new monarch visits the longest reigning monarch first (which King Frederik also did, as King Carl Gustaf is now the longest living reigning monarch). But State visits in general, is about the relations between these countries. Trade, cooperation, business initiatives, international relations and more. Along with the visiting royals, are members of government, representatives from businesses and the cultural scene, leading figures in their field, and much more. It’s the modern version of establishing alliances between countries, but instead of royal marriages like it was in the past, it’s now about finding interests the two countries have in common. It’s likely there also will be a State visit to the UK from Denmark, at some point after King Charles feels up for it, and again when Prince William is King. King Frederik and Queen Mary have already established connections with Prince William and Catherine, and Queen Margrethe had a very close relationship with Queen Elizabeth. It is very likely the next monarchy King Frederik and Queen Mary will visit.

Hi, I'm going to give you some alternative ways of calling the headwear of the ladies in this. For no other reason than I that I love hats, and I think that using the more correct names for the head wear will be good for the cause of more hats being worn. There is one thing we need to clear up before we start though, and that is what constitutes a fascinator. A fascinator is, in the words of, one of the best in millinery, Philip Treacy: a chicken bum on a headband. This puts some requirements on the headpiece "fascinator". It needs to be on a headband (also called an Alice band for some reason that I have yet to figure out), and it needs to involve feathers. I don't for a moment believe you are restricted to only using chicken feathers, though there are some fabulous things that can be made with cock feathers. Any type of feathers will do, and hey need to be attached to the headband. The sport of millinery is growing, but only in the lowest classes will you see anything hot glued, or any glued on, bits and pieces. Informally between you and me, I prefer sewn on feathers when someone call themselves a milliner, but for making headpieces for fun, go right on using any glue at all. The more important thing here is the wearing of more headwear. More than the feathers, you can use whatever decorative things you want. Be that bows, veiling, crystals and or pearls. Use anything that takes your fancy. The main thing here is that it's placed on a hairband. There are some exceptions to this rule that I will address later. The next thing we need to talk about are hats. These are shaped fabric, adorned, or not, by all the things you can use to make a fascinator, but the point is that they are attached to shaped material. Most common way of shaping, is probably blocking the material on a hat block, but they can be sewn or shaped in other ways too. The most used materials for blocking and shaping is felt, straw, and buckram, but you can use any material you can come up with. The shaped material then needs to be attached to a head in some way, and it's here we meet our friend the head band again. One way of securing the hat on the head is to sew a headband into it, either on it's own or together with other methods like elastic, hair combs, bobby pins, hat pins or a combination of them. Ergo headband is the main event in a fascinator but an extra for a hat. Let's hope that I get back and edit this text later or I might have written thesis on head wear. So for the main event, or what is the person wearing? The "Dumbo'" fascinator Queen Mary wears, we now can tell is not a fascinator at all, because it doesn't seem to be be decorations on a headband. In fact after trying to see from the pictures you are showing, it looks like it could be a large pillbox worn at the back of the head Jackie Kennedy style, possibly with a large bow decoration in the same material. From the picture it's difficult to see what material is used, but can possibly be Pinokpok or Silk Abaca. Those fall into the straw category, by the way. Also by the way, Queen Silvia is also wearing a large pillbox. It looks like this one is in the same material as her coat ( I'm pretty sure it's silk). It looks like it could have been made on a steel wire frame, or if not the silk must have been interfaced with something stiff, like buckram, and sewn. In the third look she is wearing an actual fascinator. Here we can see some feathers and veiling in the same ice blue color tilted to the right on a headband. And again a net in millinery is a base to which you add fabric to, and what we see is vailing. At the second to last look Mary is obviously wearing a hat, shaped as a fedora.
