@@Arem-in6gj that’s fair! I didn’t become a HUGE fan until around the TWTLTRTD era, but I was around and aware during the Pretty Odd era. I don’t think they have a really bad album. I used to HATE Pray for The Wicked, but I have it another chance and I enjoy it for what it is. I even have a whole video talking about it

Yessss, finally some vices appreciation. I feel like that one flies under the radar a lot because it was in the stage in between having all the members and solo albums. Anyway, my rankings would probably be: 1) Vices & Virtues - it just sounds so fun and good song variety, where I feel like the range in Brendon's voice is utilized the most. the feeling of it is so eerie, yet every song is also a bop at the same time. I like toe call it the revenge album, like Brendon and Spencer were proving that they could succeed by themselves. and the bonus tracks slap just as much as the main album. 2) Pretty. Odd. - this one had to grow on me, but I love it mostly because it's my calm album. I can just put this on and not really think about anything else, while also enjoying some top tier lyrics. and, we get a taste of Ryan doing lead vocals, which is also what made me finally listen to the Young Veins, which I've been very happy about discovering. 3) Death of a Bachelor - my first panic! album I fully listened to, so it holds a special place higher up. not to mention, it's incredibly fun, upbeat, high energy, and somehow keeps me coming back even if it doesn't hold as much cohesion as the earlier albums. 4) A Fever You Can't Sweat Out - I like to call this album a beautiful train wreck, it's just so lyrically interesting and filled with so much angst, yet it somehow works. I appreciate this album so much that it managed to make nails for breakfast, tacks for snacks grow on me when before, I would just completely skip that track. only reason it's below doab is because overall, I like that album more, whereas fever has standout songs I really like, and the rest I just vibe to. 5) Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die! - I agree this album has some absolute BANGERS, while most of the other tracks are just there to hype them up. I still love it a lot, and I've been listening to it a lot more recently, but there's something about the sound/vibe of the album that makes it a very situational listen for me. like, I have to be feeling a certain way to really want to listen to it. also, some bonus tracks appreciation is much deserved. I like both of them more than most of the album. 6) Pray for the Wicked - I will always appreciate high hopes for introducing me to panic!, but I'm just not enough of a pop fan to enjoy this album to its fullest. I will say though, it does make for really hype background music, and the singles are enough to keep me coming back to it from time to time. 7) Viva Las Vengeance - I don't hate it, and I don't understand why so many other people hate it. personally, I just don't really vibe with the sound as much as the other albums, so listens are very occasional, but the other reasons people have found to trash on it are so bizarre to me. yes, Brendon's vocals sound less refined and a little strained at times...but it was also recorded on analog??? of course his voice isn't going to sound as produced as the other albums, because there really wasn't any production that could be done. and yeah, I don't really know what star spangled banger was either, but that shouldn't be the one song people are focusing on to say the entire album is "bad". it's not my vibe, but I do have some songs on my playlist (one of them even being a bonus track), and I like the thematic direction of getting famous early on then regretting it, then months after the album released, the band finally ending. and again, another instance on me liking the bonus tracks more than most of the main ones. Welp, thanks if anyone read my rant, I'm just someone who likes this band a lot.

I felt I could trust your perspective based purely on the glass beach poster beside you. Viva Las Vengeance is definitely an album you either think is ‘the epitome of garbage’ or ‘the most revolutionary album of the last decade’. To me, where Vices is Brendon’s answer to Fever, VLV is Brendon’s answer to pretty odd. Where Fever and Vices are brilliant takes on modern emo/rock, P.O and VLV are extremely captivating attempts from Ryan and Brendon respectively to capture the magic of early Rock and Roll. I think I certainly prefer Pretty Odd as a Panic! record, but VLV I prefer as just.. an album? I guess? I think the top 4 here are all amazing albums for various reasons and so where I’d personally put them on a list is up-in-the-air. So I’ve no criticism towards your personal placement because they’re all very difficult to say much different about. I don’t know why I felt the need to leave such an unnecessarily in-depth comment but I feel like your calmer and more personal style of content almost better prompts such responses? If that makes sense lol. Very good video !!

  • @phantom5757

This is a very interesting list and I do appreciate that you didn’t just shit on the albums that Brendon did solo. Anyway here is my list. 7) Pretty Odd. I will say that Pretty Odd lyrically is very good and it can be argued as Panic’s best album from that alone however for me the biggest flaw from Pretty odd is that it lacks the Panic energy from other album. Most of the tracks on here are too slow for my liking and don’t interest me all that much. The only time I go back to this album is when I need to take a nap and I need something to listen to get me to go to sleep. Though objectively I will say it is a better album than number 6. 6) Pray for the wicked. Oh boy I have some thoughts on this album. Lyrically this is the weakest panic album and it’s not even close. The other big flaw with this album is that too many songs feel the same. However the main reason I put it above Pretty Odd is due to the energy of this album. When it wants to be good it’s damn good. Saturday Night, Roaring 20’s and The Overpass are the highlights of this album due to how theoretical they are. I have heard that pray was rushed because the record label wanted something from Brendon while he wanted to take a break so that probably explains why this album feels sort of meh minus the three songs that I truly do love. 5) A Fever you can’t sweat out. Main problem is just the production isn’t really that good and Brendon’s vocals aren’t that amazing here. Most of the time it just feels as though he’s speaking like it’s a conversation. Apart from that lyrically this is a great album and that’s why it’s above pray. 4) Too Weird To Live Too Rare To Die. My main problem that I have with this album is that sometimes the auto tuning is really off and it annoys me. Apart that I like most of the songs on here apart from The End of All Things and Girls Girls Boys. Those songs kinda bore me. 3) Visa Las Vengeance. Visa is definitely a love it or hate it album and I’ve grown to love it over time. I think this album gets a bad reputation (probably because everyone just wants to shit on Brendon now but that’s not here or there) that it doesn’t deserve. I don’t have much to say about it but I like it. The top two are tied for my favourite panic albums but I had to pick one for the best panic album so here is number 2. 2) Death Of A Bachelor. This is a great album. All of the songs are great and I have no problems with it. The main reason it isn’t number 1 is because of one thing. 1) Vices and Virtues. Vices has everything. Great lyrics, great energy and the album flows together perfectly. The main reason it’s above death is because the album flows together and also the bonus tracks are amazing and that’s the tie breaker.

Good list! I used to not like the Brendon solo albums but I’ve come to appreciate them for what they are; pop records. DOAB is a solid album in my opinion, it’s gots some great songs on it. And I’ve even come to like PFTW a little more. I may even revisit this list in the future because the ranking has changed 😱

@@EternallyUncoolTrevor I would argue that only Pray is the only pop album from Brendon’s solo work as Visa is very much a rock album (which probably why I like it so much) and DOAB is a perfect middle ground between pop and rock.

@@phantom5757 you make a good point. Pray is a very 2010s style pop album, but viva mixes 70s pop and rock perfectly. I would classify it as power-pop.
