It depends. Leclerc has more Explosive performance. Sometime driving above the level of Lewis amd Max but then also meh races sometimes and more prone to mistakes that he should be at this level with his experience est at Ferrari. Carlos on the otherhand is Extremely consistent and less error prone, He ramps up his performance over time, he never finishes his season worse than his start of the season. He is also a really good team leader and great at strategising even in the middle of a race

If you want to rank results, then you go for Carlos. If you want to rank performances, you go for Charles. Overall this season I think Charles did perform better than Carlos with out a doubt. Charles won the teammate battle in both quali and races. Also Charles had more "good races" overall (best of the rest, top4, top5 finishes). At the end of the day he lost in the standings (results) mainly due to having worse luck. Not only the two DNF where he didn't get past the first corner (Monaco, Hungary). But just as importantly he didn't have any luck with his good races either. The other pieces around him didn't align for more than 1 podiums, where as Carlos got 4 podiums from less good races overall. At the end of the day in a midfield car you can't really controll what happens with the Mercs and Red Bulls ahead of you, so as I said that also is a factor of luck in the results.

I thought he was a little disappointing! OFC almost anyone is going to look bad along side Max, but I still think he underperformed! Maybe he is just adjusting to the Rebbull car a little. I guess Red Bull are happy enough with his overall performance though n I hope he gets a decent contract. He did have a bit of bad luck and also no good luck too though. I was sad n devastated end of 2020 that Perez was without a seat or drive for 2021! A great driver and very likable guy IMO! I hope we get to see Perez on the podium n even a few wins in 2022! Perez was pretty up and down, and made some big mistakes through the season losing points. If Perez drove at the level he was driving in the last few races, through the whole season, Max would've won the championship a few races ago and Red Bull would've won the constructors. He took some time to adjust, and had a slump in the middle for sure. If he keeps up this form into next year though he'll be a formidable teammate.

Max is some Next Level greatness…what he could do in a car that could only take him NEAR the Mercs but that’s it…the rest was ALL Max. He’s a gritty, visceral, intuitive racer and if he sees even the tiniest of gaps he’s going for it…insanely brave, fearless, fierce and focused especially under pressure. Lewis often speaks of Senna being his hero but…I could be writing of Senna when I describe Max, both have a similar style.

Mercedes only got their act together at the final stages and they had to take engine penalties to get to that level. Even Adrian Newey who mever used to talk himself up, admitted that RedBull was the fastest car so no debate really, everything else is just fanboy talking.

Everyone forgets how incredible Lando was in the 1st half of 2021. He was amazing! He was easily, for me, the best driver in the first half. Top 5 in every race except Spain where he was just not very fast and hungary when he was K.O.ed by Bottas. Spa - he would have got pole if he did not crash. Zandvoort - he was screwed by red flags so this was the only time he was knocked out in Q2. Monza and Sochi he was leading. Pretty much every race after that except Turkey and America, when his car was not fast so he got 7 and 8, he got unlucky in. He dropped from the top 10 and still finished in the points. Whilst Carlos was very consistent, he was only consistent in the races - he got knocked out in Q2 so much and he also crashed a lot. Lando was more consistent in qualifying but Carlos more consistent in races. Both only had 2 races (Spa counts) out of top 10. More than Max and Lewis. Lando was better this year, but Carlos was still fantastic. But they will both only get better next year and hopefully they will fight for the championship. But for me the order is: Max Lando Carlos Lewis Alonso Perez Gasly Leclerc Lewis had too many mistakes for a 7-time champ and Perez did do some amazing defence but that was for Max - he was not that good otherwise. First half Perez was missing - he was better in Racing Point. Gasly was consistent but peaks were not very high. Leclerc was way too inconsistent - one race he is fighting for a podium then the next he is not in the top 10 on pace. But Lando and Carlos and standouts for me.

Carlos was the surprise of the year being so close with Charles, but I don't think he outperformed Charles as a whole. Charles just had a sizeable amount of points taken from him through bad luck. Charles stuck it on pole in Monaco, lost a huge chunk of points with Ferrari electing not to change the gearbox and retired in Monaco, got super unlucky with the red flag in Jeddah, and a few other circumstances conspired to rob Charles of like 40 points.

Carlos had a decent share of bad luck too. He had some terrible pitstops and some bad strategy. And remember, it's not about who's fastest over one lap, but it's about who's fastest over a race distance. Jarno Trulli used to be an incredibly fast driver over one single lap, but in the races he wasn't, and he only won only one race in his career and of course zero championships. I don't want to belittle Charles, he's a great driver, but Carlos is often underrated only because he is a bit slower in qualy. That doesn't matter that much actually! It's the end race result that matters most. It's something similar to Senna vs Prost.

Poor Seb, one tough year with LeClerc and everyone forgets how good you are…now he’s in a (currently) uncompetitive car but still was the Master of Overtaking, if Seb got behind you that probably meant you were getting passed. He still has greatness in him. Agree with Max, Lando, Carlos especially. Max was on another level. It’s like he was created in a lab. Lando has it in him to be a World Champion and is one of the few drivers where the TEAM has to prove that they deserve the DRIVER. McLaren needs to earn Lando because that kid who looks like he fell out of a gamer chair and into an F1 car and everyone was too polite to kick him out because he looked so happy in it…THAT kid…is ELITE.
