So, just to make you cry more when you see "It's Quiet Uptown" at the end when Eliza starts crying those were genuine tears because the actress lost a family member right before performances and you can see Lin stop crying and check on her in genuine concern. That part, that realization and knowledge makes me sob every time

I don’t think the pro-shot performances were that night. There’s a bootleg clip floating around that shows Pippa putting her head on Lin’s shoulder. He whispers “are you okay?” That is from the night you are talking about.

The part in "burn" where Eliza goes "you...you..YOU" gets me everything. There's so much emotion. Especially with her voice getting raspy as though she's crying. Urghhhh chills.

I'm a HUGE musical theater fan and "Words Fail" is the one that gets me every time. Especially after seeing it live 4 times in a week in Portland last year HA! i will stand by the fact that you have not experienced that song until you have seen it live. NOTHING compares to seeing it live, regardless of what cast you see. I was bawling in that theater, and then i got my shirt signed by Eliza and I could barely sleep.

When Renee Elise starts “There are moments that the words don't reach There is suffering too terrible to name You hold your child as tight as you can And push away the unimaginable The moments when you're in so deep It feels easier to just swim down” I’m tearing up but when “forgiveness” is sung so sweetly, that breaks the levy & the tears flow! Also “who lives who dies who tells your story!” The harmonies with “I rely on Angelica While she's alive, we tell your story” and “the orphanage”! Lin had been foreshadowing that the whole entire musical, using the word orphan over & over again!! Brilliant!

My absolute #1 of all time is “what would I do” from Falsettos. Every. Single. Time. I still remember watching the taped Lincoln Center production in a movie theater and hearing everyone around me sobbing. When the credit rolled a bunch of people had to stay in the theater to gather themselves to wipe the tears and snot and make sure they were in a state that could be seen in public. Me included.

How is nothing from Next to Normal on this list? That entire show breaks my heart a million times over.

The whole Act 2 of Hamilton after intermission had me sobbing- almost every darn song. I was in a box seat next to a couple, and I felt bad for them because I was audibly gasping and crying. I had not watched/heard those songs before seeing it live because I wanted to be surprised. I had soooo many tears. 😭😭😭

"She Used to be Mine" is one of my favorite Broadway songs, but whenever I attempt to sing "she is broken and won't ask for help," the emotion makes me choke up, lose my voice for a moment and I get chills. Love Jessie Mueller, but I don't feel that the Tony performance was her best rendition of it.

Whenever I watched Hamilton on Disney plus for the first time, right as ‘It’s Quiet Uptown’ came on, the sky opened up and it started pouring outside! Made me almost cry even more. And literally _as soon as the song was over_ it stopped raining. I was so sad!

I got really into Hamilton in May of 2016, and toward the end of the month, my 20 year old brother died unexpectedly and he was my roommate. I listened to “It’s Quiet Uptown” so much and just cried and cried because I felt I related. Such a good song.

90% of Dear evan Hansen Makes me cry my eyes out EVERYTIME but "Words Fail" especially.. the melody and Ben platt's voice make me weep for an hour I SWEAR. Love your videos so much!

idk if it's just me but I think one of the reasons its quiet uptown is so heart - wrenching is because of the chords and how the whole piano part is the scale that Eliza would sing with Philip when they were counting up to ten in French 🥺😢 but also the fact that the song is actually sung mostly by the chorus which kinda signifies that Eliza and Alexander are so sad that they literally cannot sing 😭😭 and Angelica has to sing for her.... omg I cried so much I cry every time I hear that song 😭

I cried while performing Breathe from in the heights during a recital. That message of not feeling good enough for your parents just got me good

I'm Here gets me EVERY TIME. Cynthia's voice is just incredible and the emotion she puts into singing that song just hits me straight in the heart.

I'm Here is one of the few musical theatre songs that make me cry. What's amazing is that I haven't even seen the musical, I've only read the book. The song captures the heart of Celie's character so perfectly.

The first time I listened to that soundtrack, I sobbed. Just ugly cried. The hardest part for me was when Hannah tells Beulah that her son's body was finally found in the World Trade Center in "Something's Missing".

I love "It's Quiet Uptown" and it's definitely emotional, but the part of Hamilton that really got me is the very last song, "Who Live Who Dies Who Tells Your Story", pretty much from the part where Eliza says, "Oh I can't wait to see you again" to the end... literally shivers and tears every time.

Oh you must have seen Dear Evan Hansen with Taylor Trensch... I went to high school with him and he’s always been pretty brilliant.

Hadestown is one of those extra special musicals that you can't just listen to one song and cry. The entire musical builds up to that one epic moment of devastation and heartbreak. There is no 1 song I can pick out that makes me cry, but listening to the whole thing can make me bawl on and off throughout.

Oh man I'm Here with Cynthia and Words Fail with Ben were two of the moments where I absolutely sobbed in a theatre. Cynthia live was just magic, one of the few mid-show standing O's I've seen.

The musical song that makes me cry the most is No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young) from We Will Rock You, ugh it gets me every time. One of the first lines "Is it raining in heaven" 😭😭

Everyone thinks the Evan songs are the tearjerkers of the musical, but So Big/So Small is the secret tear-duct killer that no one is expecting. I was WEEPING.

I sobbed for the entire act two of DEH... like literally sobbed lol

“The I Love You Song” from 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee kills me. On the surface, it’s not a sad song but when you realize it’s all just in Olive’s mind and it’s the relationships she wishes she had with her parents.......ugggh, brutal.

Oh, Hannah 😭 I will NEVER recover from Lin-Manuel’s performance of “Hurricane” in Puerto Rico. I LOST it! NOT A DRY EYE IN THE AUDIENCE. So, by the time “Stay Alive (Reprise)” and “It’s Quiet Uptown” came, we were all gone.

my high school put on bright star two years ago and i was in the ensemble. i moved a set piece on right after i had a vision and went on bawling every time

After a year of being a fan of the soundtrack, my sister and I flew from the Netherlands to London purely to see DEH. As soon as we heard the first piano notes before Evan's (Sam Tutty in our case, HOLY HELL SO GOOD) we both started BAWLING, and I don't think we stopped til intermission, then we started again haha

Hannah if you really wanna cry watch Cynthia Erivo's last performance of "I'm Here" it's heart shattering.

I cried when watching It's Quiet Uptown because for the whole song Eliza was stone face the entire time until the end. I couldn't stop crying.
