Ya I was surprised that was in the obvious category. I think Islam will smoke him, but I have seen mma KZreadrs say they think Arman would win. The reason I think it’s an easy Islam win is that I don’t really see any area where Arman could create significant offense. Arman has good grappling but not good enough to really generate any offense against Islam. And same with the striking. Arman is a great striker, but Volk and Dustin are better strikers and they had difficulty generating offense against Islam. There’s just no area where I see Arman doing enough to win 3 out of 5 rounds, and I don’t think he could finish Islam unless he gets a lucky punch.

dc, chael, rampage, rashard. all wrestlers and all have better wrestling credentials than stipe. stipe 1st wrestler he fought, he was knocked out by him. and it took dc to be 40 and 41 for stipe to beat him Gustufsson is a Swedish boxing champ. jones beat him twice. boxing is only 1 part of mma. but Gustufsson was a much better all around striker than stipe because he has elbows, kicks that stipe doesn't. jones never had 1 much ko power and stipe doesnt either. stipe has 1 ko which he knocked someone out with 1 punch. jones never had to but never needed it jones still has the reach and the fight iq. stipe has been dropped many times and jones has never been dropped.

Tbh Islam vs Dustin was a reality check for Islam. He's not khabib. One judge even had fight level on points after 4th. Arman vs Islam is a lot closer than most think. Next Alex vs anklaev. Another fight where just being a dagestani means getting extra points. He's not that good at wrestling and he's calling for a knockout. Won't be surprised seeing his head getting bounced off the canvas. Stipe vs jones isn't one sided. Stipe if he's who he was, then jones would be slept. Easy. Lastly, adesanya vs du plessis. I would have put belal Edward’s down to fairly close. Belals cardio tends to be his best asset and we didn’t see him long enough fight 1 to judge this one. Both fighters seem to be way more developed I’m almost seeing it as a brand new fight. Islam for some reason my first inclination would be to put him should win not definite although I get ur reasoning regarding skill for skill comparisons

Arman and Islam is definitely in the 50/50 section, you’re underselling the fight. Their fight 6 years ago doesn’t really prove anything, rematches happen all the time with different winners. Edwards lost very clearly to Usman in their first fight then beat him decisively in their next two. McGregor lost to Diaz decisively the first fight then beat him the next. Stupid reason to pick someone Their performances against Charles also aren’t good indications of anything, styles make fights. Strickland lost to Pereira, Izzy beat Pereira, then Strickland beat Izzy. How did that work? As far as grappling, maybe you’re right but Arman def has better wrestling from a takedown perspective and Islam isn’t a diverse submission artist, he just gets subs from chain wrestling which he won’t be better at than Arman. I actually think there’s a better chance Arman succeeds in taking Islam down, especially considering Islam severely struggled to take down Porier who has non functional hips The striking is interesting, but it’s clear that Arman is faster and more powerful. The only way Islam can win striking exchanges is by closing the distance, which I don’t think he will be able to most of the time

In the striking, they look very different also. Arman does a very good job from the outside with kicks and outside punches whereas Islam fights in a more traditional boxing style. For Islam to outstrike Arman, he would have to close the distance and he hasn’t shown the ability to do that with any strikers of that style. Islam is more of a counter puncher if anything. You guys just think “Muslim looking guy with funny beard” = Same style “Islam out-wrestled arman in their fight” Who cares what happened 6 years ago? Fighters change. This is such a stupid argument tbh, Usman outstruck Leon in their first fight then got outstruck in both subsequent rematches. “Arman was outwrestled and outgrappled by gamrot” Gamrot would also outwrestle Islam. Gamrot is by far the best wrestler in the lightweight division and I think PfP right now as well. He’s a multiple time European champion and ADCC veteran. He also has unlimited cardio (a big weakness for Islam). “Islam has used 6 unique submissions” You misunderstood what I said. By diverse submission artist, I mean you find submissions from many angles. You can find it through the striking (like dropping someone and submitting them), off of your back, wrestling, etc. Islam mostly does wrestling, control, and then eventually a submission maybe. Charles Oliveira is a perfect example of a diverse submission artist. “A dehydrated and weakened islam outwrestled volk” First of all, I’m tired of this dehydrated narrative which Muslim casuals started espousing and making up to account for Islam’s poor performance in the first fight. Both Islam and Volk had the same time to dehydrate and they both weigh the exact same (180 lbs) offseason. If Islam was dehydrated, it’s his fault. I swear, it’s a new thing every time Islam has a lackluster performance. Staph infection, dehydration, his d*** got stuck in the laundry machine, etc. If this keeps happening, there’s no reason we won’t assume it’ll happen again. Secondly, Volk is a striker and still fended off nearly all of his attacks. Islam similarly struggled against Dustin, a retiring striker with non functional hips, failing most of his takedowns. “He doesn’t mostly use chain wrestling” What are you even talking about? There are basically two times where this didn’t happen and that was Charles Oliviera (because Oliveira’s jiu jitsu prevented that from happening) and Thiago Moises. All of his other subs are from wrestling. He’s not gonna manage to submit Arman, there’s no chance. “Charles fight Arman leaves his neck wide open” You call me a casual, saying dumb shit like this? What does it mean to leave your neck wide open? Get caught in submission “attempts” from the greatest submission artist in the UFC? Ok buddy “Islam was confirmed to have staph in that fight” Another poor excuse unfounded in reality. Yes Islam had staph but he also got the infection not even a week out from the fight and he wasn’t on any antibiotics. Staph infections suck because of the antibiotics and affect performance that way, which just wasn’t the case here. “Arman has been outstruck by every striker has ever fought” This isn’t even remotely true. If you look up Arman’s record, in terms of significant strikes, there is only one person who has ever outstruck him and that’s Damir Ismagulov by 2 significant strikes. Arman has outstruck everybody else on the feet. He outstruck Oliveira on the feet by over 3:1 in significant strikes, KO’d Beneil in under a minute, outstruck Matt Frevola, OAM, Christos Giagos (who he KO’d) (these are the only strikers he has ever faced). “Charles himself has said Islam’s punches were harder” He never said that “Plus we saw both of their performances against Charles” We also saw a different Charles fight both of those fights. In one of those fights, he was reckless, bull rushed at Islam, and fought the way he normally fights against strikers not realizing there’s a totally different stylistic matchup right in front of him. In the other, he was super careful on the feet, took very little risks, and just lied on his back waiting for a submission opportunity. You just can’t compare the two. Oliveira choked Dustin by the start of the third round whereas it took Islam a war and a desperate 5th round last minute submission to get it done. So now Oliviera is better than Islam? This logic is stupid

I actually think the bs HW title fight is less of a sure thing than the real one. Meaning Stipe has a better chance against Jones than Blaydes has against Tom.

How? Islam out-wrestled arman in their fight and went on to outgrapple everyone he ever fought including all time greats like charles and volk. While arman was outwrestled and outgrappled by gamrot Islam is a better grappler, striker, and edges him out in wrestling. Plus we saw both of their performances against charles and islam definitely did better while Arman was almost finished multiple times

Arman was 22 when he fought Islam on very short notice. Gave Islam one of the toughest if not the toughest fight of his career. He’s improving at a faster rate than Islam is and is a nightmare matchup. With a full training camp I’d put my money on Tsarukyan to win

This was also a short notice islam who just came out of the hospital. Faster rate yet he lost to gamrot and was almost finished by charles. MMA isn't for everyone. Watch another sport

Great video but I have to disagree in a few areas. I think Max will comfortably beat Ilya. He’s long, has good takedown defence and an iron chin. It’s a nightmare matchup for Ilya. Arman vs Islam will be razor close. MMA math doesn’t work, so Charles shouldn’t be used for the eye test. I see Islam edging out a decision. Merab will almost certainly dominate Sean O’Malley. If Henry can’t stop his wrestling surely Sean won’t. He doesn’t leave his chin up in the air like Aljo. He’s smaller and faster making him much harder to hit. Just look at his domination of Yan. Yan is the best striker in the division. He wins vs suga if that fight is 5 rounds. People on the Alex hype train need to take a step back. I love Alex but he isn’t a grappler. Jamal Hill and Jiri are gift wrapper matchups for him. Look at how Jan was able to control Alex. Alex’s knockouts are insane, but he better hope that left hook lands or he will certainly lose.

Yeah Merab isn't finishing O'Malley out, Suga has five rounds to clip him. It will be more of a test of Sean's takedown defense.

Merab is a way different fighter than aljo. He’s a more versatile and athletic version of Aljo because of his insane cardio. Yan couldn’t clip him because of the takedown threat the whole fight and Sean debatably loss against him.

Ankaleav is so overrated. Who has he beat? Johnny walker, the mans who chin is literally paper? His two good wins are Ozedemir and Johnny walker. He lost to Jan and Paul craig, his TD avg is 31%, and his striking is miles worse then Pereira. Pereira has improved his takedown defense, is a BJJ black belt, and his striking is getting better and better. Ankaleav is no Jon jones, he's not going to take him down and pummel him, he's going to get caught multiple times and Ko'd.

Except for the fact that charles almost lost against rd1 dustin. While staph infection islam won all rds and outstruck dustin. Plus we are talking about two dudes with a similar style (arman and islam) who both beat charles. Charles himself claimed islam is a much better fighter than arman.
