Putting generations at the bottom is fascinating. Excited for rest of your persepctive. I 1000% agree with every criticism u have of generations and agree at the same intensity. I guess for me I remember the day and nostalgia may be biasing my perspective; Thanks for a splash of cold water but I still would place this higher in my list; especially higher than insurrection . Excellent analysis of the movie

I like all the Star Trek movies and wouldn’t count any of them as being “ bad “ but like you,I remember seeing it on release and the hype of Kirk meeting Picard and seeing the TNG crew on the big screen was incredible. It was later that I came to terms that the storyline really is nonsensical and dull with some really poor creative decisions made ( The Data subplot with three chip wasn’t needed ). @@brendangkelleher2669 the whole boat scene was rediculous. Waste of money, time, actors And at the end we get a few torpedos and a few phasers and two shops are destroyed. That was and still is super disappointing. I always wondered if someone asked for their ship to be used and some side deal was done because it’s use was sooooo random

They did Kirk dirty in that film. His death was terrible. I don't care for the film.

@@davemiller6055 I agree that they did him dirty, but he didn’t get to die twice saving a bunch of people, and to judge a movie based off of one thing is a pretty narrow sense of vision

I'm down a rabbit hole watching different KZreadrs rank the 13 Trek films. This one might be my favorite! (I know I'll never find one that matches my personal ranking 100% but I'm okay with that.)

Great list I would swap star trek 1 with 6. Also 4 is ahead of 3 for me but the rest for me was spot on!

I know I'm in the minority here, but amongst TNG films I liked 'Nemesis'. But I was never a fan of 'Insurrection'. And based everything I have read/heard about the original plans/script for 'First Contact', it sounded like it would've been AWESOME, with nerdgasms to go around. But Patrick Stewart's ego got in the way. As for the 'Original' cast movies. Of course IMHO, I view WOK, SFS, and TVH all as one collective trilogy (a'la LOTR, Infinity War/Endgame, Dune 1-2, etc). I cut TMP some slack, its the first outing, they're trying to put the whole franchise together, seeing what fits, what doesn't, and what outta go where. I do understand why alot of people hate TFF, I however look at from a cerebral/spiritual POV. I liked Sybok, he was a door into a different a whole different side of all of the character's, especially Spock. And Kirk delivers one of his 3 best ATF quotes in this movie: "You know that pain and guilt can't be taken away with a wave of a magic wand. They're the things we carry with us, the things that make us who we are. If we lose them, we lose ourselves. I don't want my pain taken away! I need my pain!" And we also learned of Kirk's premonition that he would die alone. So there's some good in there as well, minus Shatner's over-indulgences.

Good ranking overall but really you have Generations lower than Final Frontier? Appreciate the effort you put into this though.

My ranking and preferences change over time. I don’t hate Generations but it’s currently my least favourite.

Neither are the best representation of Trek on film but Final frontier is better than Generations.

I think Generations is a little undersold, TMP a bit overrated, and I have less faith in Cumberbatch's performance as Khan, but overall a solid list, with mostly solid reasoning!
