I liked that they used similar ground tiles in Hill Top to Emerald Hill. Felt like there was geographic continuity.

Never be guilty about that Sonic 2 bias. I love all the classic games, and Sonic 1 was my first ever video games so it holds a special place in my heart, but Sonic 2 is the best video game of all time.

Appreciate your placement of Marble Garden and Hill Top. I probably wouldn’t place them that high but I always enjoyed them and never understood the hate from other ranking videos

I also agree Angel Island is the best zone ever. My only wish is we got a full level with it retaining its beautiful and serene greenery before it gets set on fire.

16:24 I like the Prototype version of the tracks made by Jun Senoue a lot more than the final ones on the Genesis release made by Brad Buxer and MJ (excluding Ice Cap, I think nothing beats Hard Times, but I do like the idea of the one from the Prototype being used in Act 2 and the one in the final game in Act 1), but Origins did NOT made justice to the Proto tracks

Great video, I might be in the minority of people who genuinely enjoy Sandopolis,but I thought your rankings were fair. My absolute dead last would be Labyrinth Zone good Christ do I hate that level! I remember being 7 and never being able to clear the thing and make it to Star Light and Scrap Brain. My favorite level of all time would have to be Marble Garden just based off of the scenery and just how much there is to explore in the level within the 10 min you’re given. If you weren’t supersonic by Hydrocity you definitely got in Marble Garden. Oil Ocean was a level I absolutely despised but gained a new appreciation for it in Sonic Mania.

To hurt the final boss of CD, I heard that the scrapped final boss was gonna be planned to be put in the mobile remake for CD, but, SEGA being SEGA, wanted it to be *faithful to the original.* Why couldn't it be a toggle?

It’s such a shame some of the sonic 3 music is in some copyright limbo. To this day the parallax scrolling is so good. The background of casino night is by far my favorite. Something about the pixelated city in the bay is so special.

Confession. I never beat fully a Classic Sonic game but I just use pevel select debug mode to experience my favorite classic Sonic Zones?

Why does nobody ever include Knuckles Chaotix or Mania? They have some of the best atmosphere in the entire series. At least you did CD.

You should rank the mania zones as individual acts if you ever do a future. Or maybe include it with the 17 classic sonic zones between both versions of generations.

20:50 Actually, it's not just barely possible, it is straight impossible, Knuckles can't jump that high and reach the Red Eye, so you can't beat it normally, but Knuckles normally doesn't even go to Death Egg, so it makes sense

I like chemical plant because I can do a life underflow glitch in act 2 :)

Silver Sonic was the name used in some US marketing, but in Japan his name was always Mecha Sonic.

USA Sega CD OST , forgettable? Damn. Not saying you can't have your opinion, but I'm on the complete opposite side. Calling something you don't like "trash" is something I'd cut from your language. Say you don't like it, but to call something trash that someone else made out of hard work and their best effort is a little condescending. EDIT: You're #1 is also my #1, so it's odd how we can be so opposite on music, but exactly the same on favorite zone. The world takes all kinds I suppose.

How did you beat sonic 2 death egg zone without cheats I can beat metal sonic within less then 17 seconds every time but fighting Eggman’s robot I can get it right so worked on it for 7 hours today and the most hits I got in before dying was 7 😭😭😭

I'll be honest, it's just patience. Just hit him in the chest when his hands aren't sticking out and you'll get him eventually. I was in the same boat as you, I was stuck on the boss for about five years of my childhood

As a child I found another tactic. Before he is landing, I move behind him and attack him from behind, so I don't have to deal with his spiky arms. Just need to take care of the flame from his backpack (and the bombs he is firing behind him, but they are easy to avoid).
