It's the fact that he's never been captain of any team before and yet were being told he's a better captain than those who have actually shown they're proper captains. It's just a bit wrong to base this off potential for him and then base it off results for everyone else

@@noahbowie5985 There are only 3 people in the chelsea squad who have been with the club since childhood, and out of them 3, James is the one most likely to play the most ( Hudson Odoi - Gallagher are the other 2 ) and the rest of the squad are fairly new....this is also a reason why James was given the armband, he is experienced with the club and the clubs future.

From the reports out of Spurs, Son has been a massive hit so far as a Captain. Bringing in a team huddle before the game in front of the away fans at Brentford for example went over really well

As a Spurs fan, I also wasn't too keen on Son as captain but there was literally no one else. Hojberg doesn't start, Perisic doesn't start, Porro and VDV are born leaders but are still too new and Romero isn't too much of a leader anyway despite his tough tackling, also, how well does he communicate with his teammates. So Son was just a default option to me

I think son is a good choice. Just last week he was asked what position he wants to plays, he said he play anywhere that helps the team best. He has military service and we’ve seen him angry before.

Son has some quiet intensity. Have you seen his goal celebration after Pep called Spurs “the Harry Kane Team”? The man deserves the armband. Although Madders and Biss are a good future shout.

the only downside with making Van Dijk Captain is his position on the pitch and maybe the fact that he might be replaced next summer since he will be over 33 by then. Other than that it's a solid pick. I love the fact that Trent Alexander-Arnold is the vice-captain, which means he is the next guy after Van Dijk is eventually sold. I'm not saying we sell him next summer, but he might not be a starter in 2024/2025, that's all I'm saying.

given that we haven’t signed a back up for him this year I find it very very unlikely that we can sign not only a back up but also a replacement for that left side. I don’t mind vvd being captain especially because he’s captain of NL. Think he will carry the armband for 24/25 but not after that unless we see the levels from him we saw in 2019.

I think the comments you've made about Son are something most people would say about Marco Reus when he was made the BVB's captain. "He looks like he could've play the prince in a Disney movie" "Just an uninsulting, nice, handsome bloke" "He's just... nice" "He looks so nervous and polite, can you imagine him shouting at anyone in the dressing room?" And they were right, I mean, I love Marco as much as the next guy, but he has about as many leadership qualities as a piece of bread. Sonny is nothing like that. Just because he's not Roy Keane doesn't mean he cannot be a great captain. If we're talking about leading the team by example, no one in that Spurs team comes close, not even Harry Kane. He dragged this team to the Champions League final when Kane was injured. He's played an entire game with a broken arm. He's selfless, a perfect team player and the role model for the youngsters, he has military experience and an elite mentality, plus he's already the captain for his national side. Son didn't get this armband for the number of his instagram followers, or for his pretty smile, but because Ange decided that he's the leader this team needs, and together with Maddison they created a great leadership duo. If the gaffer wanted a Roy Keane-esque violent shouter he could have just given the armband to Cuti Romero, instead he's made him the vice captain

There really is no one better to captain than Son right now. He's been loyal to Spurs and provides an element of positivity on and off the pitch. And I don't think you could instantly have Maddison captain, and I'm certainly not having Dier as captain. Plus I don't understand judging him based on a documentary that took place during the 19-20 season. A few seasons ago. Your mentality can change a lot in that time. As a Man City fan, as much as I love KDB, I really think Ruben Dias should be Man City's captain. The first time I've seen him on the pitch, I know he's the closest thing to Vincent Kompany we've ever had. Not just a world class defender, he is such a natural born leader who gives our entire team strength and confidence. Maybe last year he was still too young and too new to the club to be captain, but now he's 26 year old and has been at the club for 3 years, that's already older and longer than many other captains in the Prem I understand the decision to give KDB the captain's armband, considering he's been at the club for 8 years and deserves utmost respect for everything he's given to our club, but still I think Ruben Dias would make a better captain. Criticizing KDB for the let me talk moment from 6-7 years ago is wild. And he said Belgium were too old in an informal interview like 2 months before the World Cup.

VVD was appointed as a Captain because we don't really have anyone better for this role. Salah is quiet, Robertson sometimes loses his shit, Alisson is a goalie, TAA, Jones and Elliott are too young, Jota is a bit similar to bruno, Gakpo and Diaz are too nice and Mac Allister is new. Of the players we got I see a future captain in either Szobo or Elliott.

I feel like Virgil is a hard one to place. Im like you not sure of him as a skipper, and Liverpool have a lot of national captains to choose from (VVD, Robertson, Salah, Szoboszlai and Endo). There are also players like Trent, Alisson and McAlister capable of leading. I think he will be alright, but filling in the shoes of Liverpools two best Premier League captains in Gerrard and then Henderson is not an easy task no matter who takes it.

Nah, i agree with TheIrishGuy. He's still a great defender but clearly not the same since the injury. And the blame he got as a Dutch Captain may not mean everything, but it is worth seeing it as suspicion. But I do think that there aren't many other good candidates as Liverpool captain now that Henderson and Milner have left, so maybe they just don't really have a choice.

2 major problems here, those being Matheus Nunes and Reece James. Nunes showed he's clearly boneheaded with that ridiculous red card, I understand emotion on the pitch but a captain wouldn't be that rash. And Reece James... well his legs are made of melted chocolate... personally I'd prefer if my captain could string 5 games together🤷‍♂️

Dont get why Bruno will be "weighed down by the armband" when he's worn it unofficially for the past year and won a trophy
