@@Garagelab164honestly for backstories and story relevance it would be a whole other list Because design wise she’s golden but story wise she was easily fodder and trash And that’s the same for a lot of characters Skarlet is great design wise but has a trash backstory Drahmin is one of the only native Neatherrealm fighters who fights for Quan Chi and is a rival to Scorpion he isn’t even used as fodder likes he is intended for Sareena even has a cool backstory given she was trained by Sub-Zero so she has ice powers as well

Let me put it like this without sub zero there's no scorpion going on a mission for revenge. That's what makes him so popular and then sub zero well a lot of people sympathise because we'll he was essentially framed and killed which as well as featuring in the main game. The divide of popularity is pretty evenly split. But they are definitely two characters that grab a lot of the attention from the MK community and without these both or 1 of them being in the game a lot of people wouldn't pick it up. People who have never played the game it self will know who the fuck scorpion and or sub zero are

Why is Cetrion down in the remove category? I mean sure she wasn't all that important in MK11, but put her in the forgettable category. Having her be equal to Kobra and Mokap is ridiculous.

Honestly at this point I would say Johnny Cage has busted into top tier essential character, especially since mkx moving forward. He's the primo comic relief and all around feel good character that still has an interesting place in the roster

Ok, so hear me out about Erron Black: I always enjoyed the eclectic nature of the Mortal Kombat roster, Ninjas, Robots, Special Forces, Cops, Hollywood Celebs, Kung Fu masters, Native American Shaman, and monsters of all shapes and sizes. I thought that having a Cowboy character was a perfect fit to the weird collection of MK characters which is why I want him to come back.

I feel bad for Cetrion, I think she has potential.

I really never understood the problem with her, honestly.

When I first played Mortal Kombat at a friend's house, Kira, Hsu Hao, and of course Subzero were my 3 favorite characters. Granted, after learning about the story, I learned to appreciate the characters that actually matter, but I'll probably always have a soft spot for Kira and Hsu Hao regardless.

I feel like Tanya is interchangeable with Jade, because in MK9 and MK11 we got jade but in MKX and MK1(12) we got Tanya. Either character is a best friend with either 2 Edenian Princesses (Kitana and Mileena). See the pattern?

Pretty fair list. I would bring Havik back more often because no else plays like him and has a great gimmick. I would like a more traditional Havik. Use Reiko more often too

Unlike others, I like Cetrion's character, and I think she had the potential to make an awesome comeback

Havik's placement makes me sad but I get it. He has so much potential, he's the epitome of brutality.. they did him dirty :(

My boy Kintaro needs more recognition, I obviously understand that Goro will always be the more favoured but let’s not forget that Kintaro was physically more impressive then Goro.

A bit shocked seeing Motaro as unpopular. I always thought he looked cool and menacing. I assume his unpopularity may stem from the fact that he cannot be fully realized in a 3D engine due to him being a quadrupedal character (unique skeleton, movement, fatality & brutality interactions, and everything just for 1 character). Basically he stopped being relevant because he stopped taking part in the story. I would still love to see him as a sub-boss once again though. p.s. we don't talk about Armageddon Motaro ;)

Kano is THAT low? I mean if you put Jax and Sonya into very important I think Kano should be at least in big deals bcz he is the antagonist of both. They point that clearly out in the dialogues of MK11 and MKX before the fight. So Kano should be not missed out when you put Sonya and Jax into the game imo. And Shujinko that high? I've expected him in Mid or Unpopular bcz I know very less people who likes him and he didn't play a big role. Or did I miss out a rage of fans in one game where Shujinko is not included (like in the case of Mileena missing out in MK11 main roster)?

It would be cool to see Chameleon and khameleon have some involvement with reptiles mk1 ending. It would give NetherRealm a chance to flesh out these 2 characters more.

Unpopular opinion but I love D’vorah she is such a cool character. She betrays everyone and has a pretty good role in the story and is a really cool character imo

The reason Onaga hasn't returned is because you could just uppercut cheese him into oblivion. In my opinion.

In my honest opinion, if you rank Jax & Sonya in very important - then Kano needs to be there. He's like, their bad guy. The Black Dragon has, for the most part, been a main thing that Sonya always worries about showing up with Kano at the fore-front. I am absolutely biased as Kano is my favourite character, I just think if Sonya & Jax are in the game - so should Kano.

Pretty much all my favorite characters are ranked mid or below on your lost. Cetrion is definitely a character with potential in the new era. The D'Vorah hate is way overblown: she at least did something as a villain. If she did nothing, then people would complain about that. Frost was pretty fun in MK11, probably the only character that I didn't mind being similar to another,namely Sub Zero. I hope she also comes back.

Jason can have anyone else's slot in the roaster, I'd like to see a revised version of him in another mk game as a guest character.

I’d honestly argue that Johnny, Kitana and Sonya are also “Most Important.” They all play incredibly important roles in practically all of the games. Kitana is often times more important than Shao when it comes to Outworld royalty as seen in MK1. Johnny and Sonya on the other hand are a dynamic duo, and although we could live without Sonya, we can’t live without Johnny, enough said.

Two questions: Why did you not talk about Cetrion and why didnt you put kronika in "remove" category?

Nah dude why Kotal Kahn a clone of ogre from Tekken gets a pass but Kobra gets all the disrespect, I would rather have Kobra, Mokap, and Hsu Hao in a game rather than Kotal, for sure.

I like having guest characters as never return, with one exception. Kratos man, bring him back! I missed out on him the first time around when I played mk9 on xbox360. He's a perfect addition to the roster. I would really like to see more guest characters from other video game franchises. I'm hoping the Doomslayer rumors are true, I'd love to see characters like the Bloodborne Hunter, the Dragonborne, any of the Assassin's Creed protagonists, Virgil, even something way out there like Ganondorf. Id be all over that.

i love d'vorah's concept: a kytinn that builds relationships with outworlders, acting as an envoy that only moves if it contributes to the hive's safety and thrivingness. that nature is so interesting and the fact that she is the only playable kytinn, a whole different species, opens windows for her move set to be as unique and astonishing as it is. i truly believe d'vorah should get more love, even though she got my favourite character, mileena, killed on the previous timeline 😭.

Before I even watch.... Scorpion is obviously number one, and Bi-Han subzero /Noob Saibot is number two. Jax needs to be high up in the tier. MK4 Jax's arm rip, bro I think I'm still traumatized. The only other fatality that compares is Kenshi Helicoptering folks.

I honestly do not need Ermac or Reptile, Mileena and Kitana are way more relevant lore-wise and plot-wise.

I ain't gonna lie, the one thing that made Tanya not that popular in MK1 is more of her looks than her as a character in the MK1 story. Her entire character changed is reasonable cuz this is Liu Kang's era. But for Shang Tsung's era? Bruh she's just a female brute. The writers literally could have made Tanya from Shang Tsung's timeline a spy halfway into the story of MK1.

I would argue that this game took a small sales hit when it was revealed that Hanzo wasn’t scorpion.

Absolutely agree with everything, I would've put Cyber Sub-zero into unpopular, but maybe it's just me. Great video overall.

I won't lie I would love too see some quest characters come back like some of the slashers

Ideas for MK1 that i feel shouldve been implemented prior to the rushed release we got: 1. Made the kameos fully playable and give non kameo characters a kameo variant. 2. Made team and solo matches optional so you can either play 1v1 or with a kameo. Could even have 2 different ranking systems for each. And for tournament play they could just host 2 separate brackets for each mode on different days For the ppl that only want to play 1v1, they have more options for character selection And for the ppl that like the team battles theyd have more options for kameos/team building in general because every character would have a kameo variant 3. Cross play obv (ik its coming but it shouldve been featured off rip) I feel like just these 3 things and a bit more polishing on the game would have helped with the reception and longevity of the game. Idk about ya but from my experience, MK1 has had more bugs than any other fighting game ive ever played

As a Sindel main/loyalist I can agree with the placement. I mean I would love to have her in every game but I can understand and accept she doesn't have to be. I do hope that she does come back in the next game with more banshee/scream powers since Jerrod/Ermac could revive her by placing her soul in her body and she is resurrected. I also think Cetrion definitely deserved better treatment in terms of character building that was sadly not realized in Mk11.

I love havik. I played him ton in every mk game he's in. Im hoping for mk comeback. Ill def play content comes out but fear support will end faster with the current health of game. Ive played all 3 seasons outside of half dozen fights after season boss.

Cetrion needs to be higher because she had an important role in mk11. She killed the elder gods,got the souls crown for Kronika,gave her life and powers to her mother. She should be put in a game together with Shinnok and Kronika to make them the main antagonists

I enjoy guest characters. It adds a cross universe element that we all use to fantasize about. It's also exciting to see how they're developed and implemented into the game.
