I'm willing to bet Kotoamatsukami was just crippled because of the circumstances of the eyes. The left eye was in a crow so it wasn't even running on human chakra let alone an Uchiha's or Shisui's. We already know a Sharingan's chakra efficiency is affected by being in a non Uchiha so that changing potency or cooldowns might not be far off. The right, which seemed to be a subtle AoE to left's brute force single target, was probably severely gimped by being in Danzo and he managed to salvage the situation with the Hashirama cells. When Obito and Kakashi were fighting Madara (after he downed Naruto and Sasuke) Obito was able to escape because he and Kakashi were both using Kamui on Obito which made it go off faster. That could also imply that same jutsu different result Mangekyo working in tandem buff the jutsu itself. One potential result with Kotoamatsukami could be that the right's AoE that can be rejected by awareness could be buffed by the left's brute force command to not care about being controlled. Shisui's plan to stop the coup with the Kotoamatsukami didn't make sense to me until Swag explained how the right eye worked in the 5 Kage summit. Given it was a full on coup the single target effect would have been worthless since its just one person effected, and the AoE would have exposed Shisui since he would be concentrating a lot of chakra in view of a clan of people able to see chakra. Combining the effects of left and right would be the only way for that to work out at all.

17:13 i appreciate kip saying that his theory is on hold since he couldnt find citation so i would like to point out that the top of the page seems to say sealing jutsu in the square next to the amaterasu title. So that would seem to be the citation required unless the full page contains vital context

I believe it refers to the Amaterasu trap that Itachi sealed inside of Sasuke's eye. But, I honestly need to comb that wiki page.

I thought Shisui could use the good Kotoakatsukami a lot more often than the crow, it was his eye and he was an Uchiha. My read on it, wasn't that it had a "cooldown", but that it had a "charge-up" time. The crow needed to accumulate chakra in order to reach the ammount necessary. Either Shisui could do it at-will under ideal circumstances (i.e. Fully Rested and in top form, once.) Or he could accumulate the Chakra much faster than a Crow and non-Uchiha could. I figure Sage-chakra is the most efficient fuel for the Sharingan, followed closely by Uchiha-chakra, with Senju/Hashirama being acceptable, and all other Chakra-types having terrible efficiency. Shisui might have either had to take it easy in preparation, or ration & stockpile the Chakra in his eyes over time. I would bet what took a crow 10 Years, Shisui could do much faster with Skill and Bloodline-Talent.

I believe from a few pages in the Manga, that Madara's Mangekyo abilities probably wouldn't rank very high. I doubt he even has an activatable ability, and probably something more akin to Shin's passive magnetikinesis. For as you hinted, and I believe this was confirmed somewhere, that the Mangekyo Eyes give you abilities of what you desire at the time of their activation. Madara and his brother activated theirs during the shinobi war era when fighting against Hashirama and Tobirama whom invented one of the most broken abilities at that time. Shadow Clones and Wood Clones that can physically fight. Madara makes it clear that his eyes can tell the difference between clones and the original. Something no other Sharingan user has been able to destinguish. This would allow him to counter what would be the biggest threat of an army of clones. The second ability is probably an increase passive buff to perception on top of the Sharingan's natural increase in perception. This would help give him time to find the original user among a sea of shadow clones and wood clones from his two biggest rivals. It evens out the battlefield for Madara and his brother to be able to fight on par with them. The whole rewinding time abilities or stopping time abilities.....are just not canon. You couldn't touch him unless Hashirama was literally God incarnate and several leagues above Madara, that such an ability would even out the field yet still could be lost too. Just...no. It makes no logical or scaleable sense with the two of them having been equal leveled rivals.

You could argue that was Madara wanting to see the truth of the world, the path of least resistance, and the way to assure victory. After all, Madara's whole philosophical argument was that he was a realist. But it's probably also a reflection of how he viewed the world; Madara defined his existence by his rivalry with Hashirama, and to a lesser extent Tobirama, so his ability to see through the crowd and find them specifically and engage them directly is a manifestation of his desire to fight Hashirama and Tobirama, and more importantly to fight them fairly with his own strength and not some nonsensical BS power like Kamui or an ultimate counter to Wood Release like Amaterasu.

Madara's Mangekyō ability is being Madara, which is IMO the most overpowered Mangekyō ability in the series

I havent engaged with anything naruto in a while and i forgot how fucking cool the uchiha are like goddamn. No wonder 12-13 year old me was obsessed with them. The nearly comical edginess of some of the characters aside, this shit is not only so creatively broken but also just badass asf.

Know what's an interesting bit about 6th paths powers? Naruto could get a new arm and move it like a normal one but Sasuske who's wife is the authority of medical ninjutsu couldn't get one for him.

Can you watch NCHammers videos? His are really informative just like Swag and he has some good takes. He is also where ive gotten most of my own Naruto lore from before watching the show.

Everyone talks about Madara using long range kamui to teleport himself, but Kakashi literally did the same thing. That's how he got out of the Kamui dimension after his fight with Obito.

To be fair though, I don't think Kakashi really had an opportunity to discover all the nuances of his kamui before the war arc, considering that for most of Shippuden he would get hospitalised after using it.

Probably not. Kakashi had exponentially me Chakra cost and physical toll as well due to him not being an Uchiha that awakened the Sharingan. As it turns out you can only do so much before exhaustion sets in and you're out of commission.

@@KipReacts How close do you count 'long range' anyway? He used it during his fight with pain so close to his head that Pain himself (Who has a pretty good set of eyes) thought he'd been hit in the head and killed.
