Ranking EVERY Coaster in Cedar Point's Modern History, 1964-Present

A lot of these operated for a short time in the early 20th Century, so let's limit this to "The Modern Era" starting from when their oldest operating coaster Blue Streak opened, and rank up every coaster, past and present, from worst to best.

Cedar Point is definitely one of the best parks I have been to. The lineup is definitely really solid. My top 3 favorites are Top Thrill Dragster, Steel Vengeance, and Maverick. I would highly recommend Fast Lane Plus if you're planning on a short trip. Also, I would recommend spending at least 2-3 days in the park.

@@aarusharya5658 It's definitely subjective, cause to me, they have a pretty mediocre lineup overall. Imo, Maverick and Magnum are elite, Millie and Rougarou are great, but outside of that, the lineup varies from mediocre to just unenjoyable. I'd honestly take Kings Island, SFMM, or Hersheypark over Cedar Point any day. But that's just my opinion, which isn't really a popular one lol
The beauty of this park is that everyone has different opinions. I place Rougarou slightly higher, for example. My dad talks extremely fondly about Jumbo Jet. The Wildcat that closed in 2011 was… interesting. I remember being terrified of how rickety it was. Gemini is criminally underrated to me. We play money train on it all the time! I’m personally a huge Maverick fan. The restraints used to be much worse on that, believe me. Magnum sits comfortably at 4th for me. It’s definitely grown on me. Steel Vengeance will always be a unanimous favorite. I get off the ride wondering what tf happened every time!

We have the same Top 10 but in a different order: 10. Blue Streak- I agree with you on this. 9. Valravn- Only slightly better than Blue Streak, Vest restraints are fine on Dr Diabolical but with Valravn for some reason they do impact the ride. 8. Gemini- Agree, fun janky ride. 7. Raptor- Slightly upper Mid-Tier invert in the US for me. Iconic and important for the park 6. Gatekeeper- I admit I have a soft spot for wing coasters. 2nd best in US. 5. Millennium Force- Great first drop, better airtime going to and leaving island, but it is too many turns. 4. Top Thrill Dragster- Great one trick pony. 3. Magnum XL-200- One of the best endings of any coaster. Very close to #2 2. Maverick- Proves that you don't have to be huge to be elite. 1. Steel Vengeance- My overall #1 as well
I've got to agree with you. Magnum is ALWAYS a must ride every time I go to the park. It is polarizing, but I love it.
Cedar Point has been my home park for over 50 years now so its always great when it gets some love. My biggest disagreement with you is on Mean Streak. it is still the only coaster I have ever been bruised on. Its also nice to see Gemini gets love. it really didn't get that in its early years as the Beast overshadowed it pretty quickly. Still one of the best head chopper moments on a coaster. Jumbo Jet is the one big miss for me as I was tall enough to ride it only on 1 visit and thought the line was too long. If I had only known it wouldn't be back the next year....

Great video! Nice rankings! I enjoyed watching!
I'm old-school enough that my very first coaster ever was the Arrow Corkscrew at Boblo Island, one of their standard corkscrew models, so I've always felt that a really good coaster *does* rough you up a little. So I'm entirely with having Magnum top-three at Cedar Point. I'd rather have janky transitions that just snap into the gees instead of perfectly smooth spiral transitions that ramp in and out; it feels more out of control and thus more exciting...
Magnum is a fantastic ride. It's the only ride in cedar point that is actually scary. You feel all safe on modern coasters but on magnum when you go up that hill with that rickety old chain lift on a coaster that was designed by bending wires and built by trial and error you feel like their is a chance that the coaster will break and you may fly out. At least that's how it felt the first time I rode it now I understand it is safe and I just enjoy the ride. Once I just went to cedar point and spent like a hour just admiring it. Honestly I really think us coaster enthusiasts should raise money for when a iconic ride is in danger of being removed. We could either buy it and move it somewhere else or pay to have it refurbished at the park it's at. I really wish more of the general public saw coasters the way I see them. They are beautiful pieces of art. And the fact that rides like magnum, Gemini, corkscrew, iron dragon, and cc mine ride were all built by extremely skilled metal workers who pushed the limits of a outdated method truly puts it on a whole new level. Last time I rode it this kid was complaining about how rough it was and how it should be removed it broke my heart. We hung up on the brake run so I told him about why it was rough, how the smooth rides were all designed using computers and built using machines. That magnum was the coaster responsible for kicking off the coaster wars and giving us all the crazy rides we have today. That the coaster was nearly 40 and has consistently been giving rides over and over for its entire life with almost never breaking down. I really hope cedar fair doesn't scrap this ride. I know they are all about replacing rides but historic rides like magnum need to be preserved. I wouldn't be against a vekoma retrack as long as it kept the original lift hill and the triangular air time hills. Maybe they could theme it to the 1980s add on ride audio and as you go up the lift hill it plays a fake broadcast of the old 100.7 buzzard morning show then plays a top ten song from the 80s and sends you on your way. Maybe they redesign the trains to resemble the c4 corvette. They could have gm Sponcer the ride and keep a awsome c4 vette and a new vette side by side in the que. Idk I just want this ride to live on. Just think if the greatest generation preserved more coasters how many amazing wooden coasters we would have had the chance to ride.

Gemini felt a little slow to me that day, and I wanted to like it better. Don’t get your expectations through the roof like I did 3. Blue Streak sucks on roughness but has un worldly airtime 4. The Magnum special seat is funny especially while you watch your friend get beat up by the airtime. Warning it hurts. 5. Gemini is fantastic and has some amazing airtime. 6. Gatekeeper is better than advertised. 7. Millennium Force great 1st drop but a quite boring and rough layout. 8. Hotel is basic but it works 9. Super amazing beach area with fantastic views. 10. The theme was better than I thought. 11. Water park has a lot of rides but no stand out. Most slides were closed. 12. You will make memories. 13. Get as much space as possible that is actually safe on the rides that have vest restraints they kill your thighs on the drops. Especially valravn

My dream park to visit (as in literally it's in many of my dreams). Rescheduled my 2021 trip after the TTD shutdown but excited to get out there for the first time in hopefully 2024
Iron dragon and mine ride are and still are my go to coasters in the mid day when I visit because they're just so fun to chill out with. Mantis being remodeled was the worst thing they could've done imo, being a standing coaster is what made it so fun and amazing. I disagree with mean streak, at night time it was the best experience and it used to be a lot rougher, used to feel like you were coming out of a boxing ring afterwards. Wildcat in 2011 was so fun to take a lil detour to even if it wasn't much, it was still fun and I remember being really sad when it first closed. Disaster transport remains my saddest loss next to mean streak and wicked twister, I adored disaster transport on a hot day! I rode gatekeeper on opening day and just didn't like it, the great thing it did was open the lines for mantis and mean streak all night though! I'm a bit sad top thrill dragster was closed almost everytime I went so I never got a chance to ride it. Raptor is definitely one of my favorites to ride, after I ride this a few times i always ride blue streak multiple times haha Millennium force may be a bit dated compared to a lot of newer coasters but it's just such a fun ride I'll always love it. Magnum is up there too because I just miss getting beat up on wooden coasters and it's the first bigger steel coaster I ever rode!
Man, always amazing to see Chris upload. Really makes my day better.
Although I haven't ridden many coasters, I visited Cedar Point back in 2000. At the time, Raptor was the best coaster I ever been on. It was my first invert. Top Fuel wasn't running that day, and Millennium Force was an extremely long line to ride. We were in line at the end of the day, but a storm moved in, so we left. Maverick's second launch is quite powerful.
Yo, I'm a coaster nerd and fan of yours. I'm going to Cedar Point in July with my dad, and I want to know what to do. We're going for three days, and on one of the days, we're getting the Fast Pass. What should I do on the trip? I've never been, so I want to know. What should my coaster order be, and what should I definately ride on the Fast Pass day?

Its good to have a fast lane day and a non fast lane day. When you have FL ride SV, Millennium force, maverick, raptor, valravn, gatekeeper, the new wild mouse, and maybe focus on these because the other coasters dont need FL as much or at all

Thanks.
I don’t see Dragster falling down my list in the park, or shooting up the list riveter. The reason why? It’s already my favorite ride in the park by a long shot

Well it cant shoot up but its hard to imagine if you love it that much as it is, that it can maintain the top spot

@@AirtimeThrills Dragster was the whole reason for my trip to KI, CP and SFGAM in 2021, and that launch was by far the best coaster element I’ve experienced

@@me-myself-i787 even if that’s the case I do not see it losing the top spot because the top speed will still be ridiculous, and speed is ultimately my favorite sensation on a coaster
Maverick No.1 in the park with SteVe right behind, then Milli, Raptor and Gatekeeper. I never rode Dragster so I have no comment, but I despise Magnum. I gave it 4 rides and I couldn’t find what I like in it. Great list tho and it’s fun to see other’s options

Magnum is definitely hit or miss depending on when you first rode it. I first rode it in 1999 when it was still considered relatively smooth, and overall, I don’t mind the roughness since it’s one of those ride experiences you can’t replicate anywhere, but I can see where some people ride it once and swear it off. The air time at the end does everything in its power to throw you out of the seat. I do love that pretzel turn though. It’s one element that I legit feel like the train will fly off the track, even though it won’t
Damn ATT, this is a big one!
Ok I know this is way off topic, but.... did you see that hersheypark had a wildcats revenge sweepstakes that they say they will notify the winner on or around May 12? Seems like we are getting really close to an announcement of an opening date.
You should do "top 35 Sandusky coasters of all time"
The coasters you put in front of rougarou, geez tell us how you really feel 😂
I love the love for Magnum XL-200! It’s also in my top 3 and I will defend it forever. I don’t understand the people who hate it. They must be doing it wrong. 😅
Between Steel Vengeance and Millennium Force, which would you rather ride once or twice & which would you rather marathon?

definitely marathon steel vengeance. I would probably get bored with Millennium force after a few rides

@@AirtimeThrills For me, once or twice - Steel Vengeance. Marathon - Millennium Force. I don't like how Vengeance can hurt your thighs after three or more rides. I'm also really not a fan of the leg restraints. Millennium, on the other hand, strikes me as a coaster that could be ridden all day. (and as a bonus point, gives a much better night ride than Vengeance IMO).
I used to love Mean Streak.. I've always been an odd ball
I went to Cedar Point for the first time in 2017 and I was taller than 54” at the time so I don’t remember how I was even able to ride it but somehow I did.
which do you prefer? Canada's Wonderland, Seaworld Orlando, Bucsh Gardens Tampa, or Islands of Adventure
I wonder how TTD will shift in everyone's rankings after it reopens.
How is Rougarou below Wicked Twister, Disaster Transport, two Wildcats, and Jumbo Jet?
Fun Fact: Cedar Point is 2 Hours 17 Minutes away from Michigan International Speedway
i don't mind a rough ride, i don't mind getting the crap kicked out of me, but magnum always beats me up in a particular way that i just can't hang with. i'm not sure if it's a quirk of the restraints or just how i sit in the car, but i have a collection of on-ride photos where i'm grimacing from the airtime hills bashing my bollocks into the lap bar.
Suggestion: ranking all manufacturer's best and worst coaster TYPES
So far I've been to Cedar Point 3 times (2019, 2021 and 2022)
You should do one for the parks in Alaska.
Airtime thrlls: Its been closed since 2001 Bro thats before the ride even opened 🤣
Im only 18 and somehow its still wild that raptor is 30 years old
I would say Dragster closed in 2021 and when it reopens it would be more like Mean Streak to Steel Vengeance than Mantis to Rougarou-we just don't know to a T what is happening-but what we think is accurate
You should have done this a mont later to include wild mouse
