PLEASE READ: It's made pretty clear at the start, but in case you missed it; this is not a tierlist ranking the abject quality of a given game series, but much more to do with it's value as a "FRANCHISE" to Capcom; where it fits in with their current direction/the gaming climate, or the potential to be brought back. 1942 is a great shoot 'em up series, but I do not see Capcom doing anything with it in the future at all, and Shoot 'Em Ups don't have the mainstream appeal they once did. Whereas beat 'em ups are currently going through a renaissance, and FF's characters are always being re-introduced through Street Fighter, thus, the higher placement. If you really like a certain franchise here, great! But this list is not ranking QUALITY, but rather it's value as a brand/IP in 2024. I LOVE zack and wiki, and think it's really charming, but that doesn't blind me from the fact that Capcom shouldn't really hedge ANY bets on resurrecting it at all. Hope that clears things up. I think it would be interesting to do this “tier list” idea for Konami, mainly which franchises could Konami bring back with new games that would bring in the money. Again, not which games are the best, but which games would bring Konami back into the good graces of gamers.

It's honestly, and absolutely, INSANE that captain commando has 1 game and how he's been so popular since his one game dropped lol

Bionic Commando as NES goat...? To me it doesn't even come close. It's fun, and the arcade is fun, but it's flawed as hell. Mega Man and whatnot is far closer, but Konami kinda smokes everything back then. And the prob is Bionic Commando only have that one game lol. Akira being in SF5 lead me to discover rival schools and cursed me with the knowledge of a game I want a current version of more than any other from a company that will almost certainly never do that.

Ghost Trick was one of the best games I played last year, having played the remastered version on the Switch. It has so much to love about it: an intriguing and suspense-filled story, neat puzzles, memorable and likable characters, a great art style, and a cool soundtrack. I am happy that Capcom had enough faith in Ghost Trick to release it on modern consoles, and I hope they revisit the Ghost Trick universe in some fashion. If you guys have never played Ghost Trick, I highly recommend you do so on your platform of choice and see why it remains one of Capcom's most beloved games. If you have already experienced Ghost Trick, play it again for old times' sake. You'll be glad you did!

I filled out that recent Capcom survey just to LITERALLY give them a way to bring Rival Schools back. They should make a sequel that takes place when the students are now parents of the new generation of high schoolers, that way we can play as both old and new characters. Hell, just release them and call it "Rival Schools: Class Reunion". I will die this hill that Rival School could be Capcom's version of the Persona series if they just let it.

Unfortunately, Lynn may have been created by Capcom, they are not allowed to use her without consulting Fox. Capcom tried twice to bring her back in Canon Spike and Capcom vs SNK2, and both times, it was suppose to be Lynn, but negotiations with Fox would never get anywhere.

Gun.Smoke is a spin-off. *Giga Wing: has three titles, Giga Wing, Giga Wing 2 and Giga Wing Generations. *Higemaru: has two titles, Pirate Ship Higemaru and Higemaru Makaijima. Black Tiger: 3 titles, consisting of Balck Tiger, Magic Sword, and the King of Dragons. I’d make a case for CvS and SFxT to be counted separately from MvC/TvC (modern Capcom, due to market pressure, would not differentiate them and would just make a new CvS a Marvel clone).

Killer7 has only 1 game but the amount of times it has been referenced means it could be considered a franchise

The Lost Planet spin-off, EX Troopers, actually has an amazing modded rom 100% in english! Played it last year. It's such a unique game.

I'm still kinda sour about Maximo 3. Arthur has had it too good for too long. Bring ma boi Maximo back!

To this day I can't hear "Lost Planet" without getting flashbacks of "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? SHOOT DE CANNON!" God, I wish Capcom would do something with the series. Also, Phoenix Drive mentioned. Cool beans!

Ace Attorney is one of the GOATs for sure theres a fan turnabout community here on YT its amazing for lore expanding and many a What-if and Memes abound from it too including characters reacting to all sorts of things especialy music also JUSTICE FOR POWERSTONE (also don't change Rouge for ""western"" audiences PLEASE) just take notes from One Piece, Capcom!

Capcom needs to bring back that PS1 Quiz game where Saki(Tatsunoko VS Capcom) comes from, clearly that will sell millions.

I think for something so old like Captain Comando to come back, it should be something like Wolfenstein. To re-imagine the title with that kind of humor about itself and very eye-catching.

Watching this was the first time in a year I've thought of Pragmata. I seriously thought that was Isaac Clark when the dude in armor popped up on screen.

I guess I'm the only person who would be excited for a new 1940 game. Sure, it wouldn't make gazillions of money, but as a smaller, cheaper release it sure would be fresh in the sea of samey bullet hell shooters on Steam. I'd put it at FINE personally.

A cute, Touhou/Parodius-ish side game could probably have more mainstream appeal while at the same time combining the extant appeal of the 19XX games with a broader crossover roster. Though something truer to the series roots might work too (maybe a hardcore mode that removes the crossover stuff for example?)

I loved that Goof Troop game as a kid. To learn 20 years later Shinji Mikami worked on it, breaking out and then making RE, blew my mind. Also we need a BOF game or a rerelease of the originals 1-4 mostly because I havent finished them lol. And Dino Crisis ofc. Man Capcom has so many amazing franchises - many languishing but still. (Dude a BOF collection without 3+4 would be criminal. The art and visuals in those games is insane good. 5 just killed the franchise not even for being bad as much as being so wildly different)

God Hand will always ben one of my fave games. The Onimusha games as well. Capcom could do so much with those, if they brought them back.

Sengoku Basara, despite of how fun and somehow deeper gameplay than Samurai Warriors in comparison, lives on with its merchandizing/other multimedia that's not game. You'd see Date Masamune is still featured on Capcom anniversary stuffs like those promotional/colabs/celebratory images and Sengoku Basara itself won that recent Capcom Town popularity votes over Breath of Fire. I'd say its revival would be more well received than franchise like Power Stone, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, and hell Dino Crisis at this point, especially with a competent english translation.

One of my fav content creators on any platform. One episode of 'What Happened?' A couple yrs ago is all it took. When are you and Maffew gonna do your Street Fighter The Movie review? I'm chomping at the perverbial bit for that one 🙏

Another great video. I would love an Onimusha 2 HD remaster. I loved that game on PS2. Sadly games such as those with the pre-rendered backgrounds are not really good in emulation so no way to properly play it other than original PS2 hardware on a CRT.

The main issue with bringing Darkstalkers back is its animation. They would never bring it back in 2D because it's too expensive but to bring it back in 3D and have it not look like shit would also be too expensive. I don't think it being old is that much of a concern given how successful SamSho was. I think it would also have a nice place in the market since it was already 1/2 Street Fighter, 1/2 anime which is kind of a void filled by GranBlue and pretty much nothing else.

Monster Hunter is my favourite, the loop of kill monster, carve it's parts, use those materials to make a better weapon, use said better weapon to hunt bigger monsters is so satisfying and so addictive, i can't get enough and i can't wait to see what they do with with Monster Hunter Wilds that game will be WILD

Kellogg's vs Capcom Now I want to see Arthur fighting breakfast cereals... And losing.

Its kinda funny with how many games the Monster Hunter series has that only two games (and their expansions) in the franchise make up for about 50% of its total sales.

I would put Haunting Ground in the Special Lil Guy section. A remake of the game in the RE Engine a la the RE Remakes is the most I would expect, and would be happy with.

The Lost Planet spinoff game is E.X. Troopers. It actually got a complete fan translation about a year and a half ago for both the PS3 and 3DS versions. I was so happy to finally be able to play it. Really enjoyed it a lot!!

Megaman's obviously my first choice, but after that, a Gargoyles/Demon's Quest game would be up there. Either 2D or 3D, borrow heavily from the Souls-like design but keep at least limited flying mechanics and multiple forms/breath weapons, include some Metroidvania (sorry, search action) elements from Demon's Crest, and it could be amazing. The dark fantasy setting it's based around is still really popular right now.

They really should revisit Basara. I love Basara 4 Sumeragi as it's basically Devil May Cry (or what Devil Kings was trying to advertise itself as). The combos you could do and all the references to DMC moves were insane, and each character had their own insane gimmick.

Capcom has been second only to Nintendo as my favourite developer for 40 years. Now that I'm breaking up with Nintendo that leaves one champion to reign supreme. Thank you for this!

I would put Breath of Fire into Smoking Sexy Style myself, but that's my bias. Big Zenny is fine.

The first Dead Rising is a masterpiece in almost all its aspects. They gave the zombies and atmosphere a real creep factor and most of the humor was left to your weapons/apparel of choice. DR2 was a fun and beefy sequel, but also had noticeable downgrades in some areas and I feel like that over the top direction has overstayed its welcome. I'd really like them to go back to the original as the blueprint for a reboot.

They NEED to reboot DarkStalkers using the sf6 engine

I would love to see Matt's beefy studio vs studio tier list. But it would likely turn into a Double Dragon length video, which whilst I would be here for it, Matt's family may miss him during the 1000 hours it takes to put together!

Ace Attorney has to be my favorite Capcom series besides Street Fighter. When I first played the games I immediately fell in love with the story, characters (Gumshoe my beloved), music, and just the world. It’s also a series that I play on cloudy days. It’s just became my comfort series which is funny cause the games includes murder and actually sad scenes and scary scenarios

A fair assessment of Darkstalkers. It’s CapGod in my heart but I understand it’s niche and only higher due to recognition of the characters. I think the problem to get it a game that looks as great as the old stuff but be successful now is a puzzle that can be solved with the right people. Maybe one day we’ll get it.

To support your point about a Vs. series game and Capcom vs. Capcom, if they ever wanted to test the waters or build excitment for a new Onimusha, Viewtiful Joe, Dino Crisis, Slam Masters, etc., literally building a fighting game with characters from those games would be how you do that, and people would LOVE it.

I like the presentation of this kind of video maybe if you did something like a final fantasy tier list you could do use like an airship or a train showing the footage

Jin & Blodia are in Tech Romancer since it's a Mecha Game but that was more like a Cameo Guest Fighter Appearance rather than Tech Romancer actually being part of the Armored Warrior / Cyberbots Series 🤖 However if Capcom outta nowhere decided now & said they are connected outside of that Cameo then I don't think too many people would complain 🤔

I would love a Final Fight sequel made by the same teams that made Shredder’s Revenge, the love and care put into that game is astounding and really stands out as how to make a beat ‘em up that respects the pat games while doing some new things.

Onimmusha is an S tier franchise to me

I know it doesn't mean anything, but it just felt so good to hear someone with a platform do my Onimusha/Souls rant. I don't want them to be soulslikes. I want them to remain the weird melee survival horror games they once were. But its nuts that Capcom let Sekiro, Ghost, Nioh, Black Myth, Wo Lang, and now Rise of the Ronin all eat up the "tough eastern fantasy samurai action game" genre when they had the biggest I.P. in that space for YEARS. Even if you lazily plopped out a Dark Souls clone but you hold B/Circle to collect the souls, at least theyd be doing SOMETHING with the I.P. I refuse to let the poor sales of the completely unmarketed, instantly forgotten by capcom, port of Oni 1 be a valid excuse to drop the franchise. They didn't even try. On the subreddit associated with THIS CHANNEL i still see people not know there was a port of 1. How can they fail that completely?

Breath of Fire 3 is one of my favorite games period. I cannot tell you how hungry I am for some kind of Breath of Fire revival! Also, the dev team Good Old Pixel is making a BoF inspired game called 'Tears of Magic'!

My biggest disaferement has to be the placement of ghost and goblins. It is one of those franchises that is big enough to never really die, but just not big enough to get yearly releases or whatever. It is quite big in japan still and I do see it as one of the big classichistoric games. Do you know that the original arcade predates super mario bros on famicom? The side series with maximo and gargoyles quest are also quite critically acclaimed retro darlings. Like... it has to be higher than strider right? which has like 4 four games tops and like two of which are succesfu. I don't know

I know a fangame of this is coming out, but I'd certainly want an official Sega vs Capcom game =D

So, I think the reason for releasing on the Dreamcast for at least Rival Schools and Power Stone was the potential to utilize the online servers for the console which released in 1998. Online services were never offered on PS2 until around 2001/2002, and the X-Box was not released until 2001. It looked like Sega was going to get into the market for this capability, but the system could not compete with the other brands.

I find it slightly odd that, despite so many games, not a single Breath of Fire character has had a cameo in anything else. Sword boy what turns into (possibly) different types of dragons seems tailored to MVC

Every time we have TGA, TGS, or any event I pray to get another installment to Onimusha! Been my absolute favorite Franchise since it forged the bond I developed with my uncle who was literally my father figure. Onimusha will always hold a special place in my heart

53:18 i don't know why Capcom stuck things to the psp, regardless of wether their audience was on the psp 2. The Megaman powered ud and Maverick Hunter X remake, Darkstalkers Chaos tower, Power Stone.

Is Maximo a GnG game? If so i think that needs to come back, in collection and sequel with minimal changes. Love those games. Also Strider sequels were good but they could do so much with that property.

Okami is currently getting the Darkstalkers treatment: a small number of unique games at the start of its life, and nothing but re-releases/ports since. Okami even has the distinction of being released on four consecutive console generations (PS2, PS3, PS4, and Switch), which I'm not sure if any other game has accomplished yet.

Resident Evil 4 and DMC 1-3 have all been ported separately to all of those platforms!

A RE2 reboot treatment of Devil May Cry, Breath of Fire, and Onimusha would cure my perpetual depression. But really, I just want to see a modern Morrigan, even if she's not part of Darkstalkers, as sacrilege as that may be.

The one disagreement with this list I have is concerning Sengoku Basara. I've played 3 of the games (I even 100% Sengoku Basara 3), and I still forgot it was a Capcom franchise. It MIGHT be "Fine" in Japan, but it's in "Danger" everywhere else in the world where it's mostly known for the anime.

Ngl I started singing once devils never cry played in the background.
