Braves within the last week have had 3 of the top 13 catchers on their roster, and currently have the 7th and 4th best... I'd say they've done pretty well at managing a position that historically provides little offensive production.

One thing you're gonna realize is Marc ranks them as hitters alone, not overall position players. He's done it every year and it's his ranking and his opinion, but it still bugs me a little. No way a platinum glove catcher isn't even sniffing the top 10.
Let’s goooo consistent mark is back with the 12 days of mlb rankings 🔥
"And this is why Francisco Alvarez will start next season for the Mets."
I agree with most of the ranking. You forgot Tampa Bay's catchers Mejia / Bethancourt.
That's a fair spot for Raleigh, it's one spot lower than mine. Personally, I had Raleigh ahead of d'Arnaud but it's a lot closer than I realized, but the drastic difference in DRS outweighs the similar offense and similar framing imo.

Trevino needs to be higher. Catcher is the only position in baseball where your defense matters more than your offense and he’s not that bad with the stick while being arguably the leagues best defensive C

Biggest thing for him imo was workload fatigue due to Garver not being able to catch most of the year. That's why he slowed down in the second half
Alejandro Kirk. So happy he’s getting recognition. Always believed he was gonna be good one day. Love the guy

I've always knew Kirk has the offense capability. I'm more shocked about his improvement defensively this past season. The Jays are loaded on catcher. Kirk, Jansen, and now Moreno who seems to be mlb ready.
Glad to see Raleigh at a high spot. And I knew back from his Marlins days that Realmuto was most often going to be a top 3 catcher. And he certainly has continued on that path. Just wish his hitting stats in MLB the show were a tad bit better
Thanks for giving Cal some respect! Love seeing the Big Dumper in the top 10
12 days of mlb rankings is my favorite yt series. So glad it’s here!!!
Joey Bart actually was really good after a brief stint in triple a. He was the best player on the struggling giants team in august. I feel like he will be even better next year.

Yep i feel he just looked at the overall stats. He was awful in tje beginning but actually quite good after being sent down. It will be interesting to see how he continues to evolve.
The disrespect to Jose Trevino! Puts up 3.7 fWAR in 115 games, the 8th most of all catchers. Is THE BEST defensive catcher in baseball. He should be borderline top 10.
Yea Trevino at 17 is wildddd lol he’s THE best defensive catcher in baseball btw

I thought it was good except for Trevino. If you get into advanced stats, he is the best defensive catcher in baseball, by a lot too. His offense isn't bad either, and after making the All Star team this season, there is no excuse for him not to be top 5.

I’d probably sneak Tom Murphy in somewhere down at the bottom of the list. He’s injury prone and not a great hitter but for a catcher he gets on base and is solid behind the plate
I’m an Astros fan and I understand for Maldonado, he one of those players who are better at defense than offense, that’s why he is called El Machete because he cuts down runners
Trevino should be higher and not just because I’m a Yankee fan but he is a top three defender at a glove first position and his has an average bat

Good rankings. Catcher is such a tough one to figure, there is an intangible element of, how does the pitching staff feel with them behind the dish as well. That is hard to capture just based on numbers.
aye man y’all got the 22nd beat catcher in baseball now 🥳🥳

I don’t think people can genuinely understand, Martin Maldonado is truly one of the catchers in MLB History, he called and caught pitches, batted the ball, and he’s rostered as a catcher. Of all the catchers who started for the Astros in 2022, he’s definitely in the top 4.
No Pirates, no Rays, that video title isn't even clickbait, it's just a lie.
Yeah I guess I agree with the rankings, Although I truly think Rutschmsn will make strides this season and will become the best Catcher in baseball very soon

Nicely done Marc. Would mix up my list a bit but it’s not mine, it’s yours. Good job
12 days of mlb rankings let’s go marc
Elias Diazis underrated. he was decent in 2021 and with some more guys around him he may get back to that level in 2023
Lol Garver and Heim literally right next to each other
Well done & looking forward to the rest. Even as a big 'go White Sox' guy, I'd have to drop Grandal a few spaces.... somewhere in the 20-15 range. There has to be some amount of rebound this year (I pray), but there's no telling how much. I've lost a lot of belief in him.
A guy who might end up top 5 as a rookie like rutchsman next year is gabriel moreno, he didn’t play much this year but when he did he hit for a lot of contact ( power could still need some help) he is like 10 ten in sprint speed in all of the mlb (i think) and he can play infield AND outfield. Not to mention he plays great defense and has a CANNON of an arm
Dumper underrated, you listed very similar offensive numbers for William. While he is slightly better than cal offensively, dumper makes up for it. Also look at Cal’s numbers from mid April on. Got sent down if the first month, came back up and mashed.

Love me some Big Willie Smith love! The Fresh Prine of LA is indeed one of the best in the League. And what's crazy is the Dodgers also have the #2 catching prospect in Cartaya just lurking in the background. Oh, we just drafted this guy Dalton Rushing out of Louisville that absolutely MASHES! Watch video of the guy, he destroys baseballs. Projects as "meh" defensively, but his bat certainly looks like it will make it not matter. Very likely he makes his way into the Top 100 prospects this coming year; he's already #9 in the Dodgers' system.
wake up babe, marc started his 12 days of rankings
Let’s go 12 days of rankings the best time of the year. Is Contreras defense really that bad tho he has a cannon of an arm throws out a bunch of runners yeah he’s not a great framer I’m just not to sure.I wanna know more on what makes it bad!
SO HYPED FOR THIS SERIES, EARLY MERRY CHRISTMAS MARC!🎉
Thank you for finally giving the ranking Will Smith deserves! If it wasn’t for Realmuto Smith would be #1 since last year.

8:56 Astonishingly the first catcher of Marc's vid who improved from last year!
Good video, I like how you used to put last years teams color for the previous ranking and the new team for new acquisitions. Maybe I’m just weird but I thought that was cool.
I was just looking forward for these vids.
How could you not even rank Francisco Mejia of the Rays? He played 79 games and was their main guy after Zunino got hurt and more than doubled Zunino’s 36 games
i think the most wild stat not talked about is the amount of innings realmuto caught more then the next guy behind him i think it was 200+ something like that.
William Contreras is gonna be a beast in a couple years. Legit 40 hr power
JT is the BCIB! PERIOD! Although a 45 minute drive to Baltimore has me rooting for AR
did not expect adley that high but i like the aggressiveness
Great ranking!
As a jays fan, I will drop my rankings for all the jays players C:Kirk 5 1B:Vladdy 3 2B:Espinal 14 3B:Chapman 8 SS: Bo 6 LF: Lourdes 11 CF:Kiermaier 20 RF:Springer 7 SP: Manoah 11 Gausman 16 RP: Romano 6
Honest question, what do people like about Ruiz in Washington? The Nats gave up a TON to get him, he looks like he’s playing in slow motion, he seems underdeveloped for the amount of time he’s been a pro player for the dodgers and now the Nats. He doesn’t field well, his hard hit ball rate is towards the lowest in the whole league, what do people see in him?
Rays? Mejia is definitely better than some of the lowest ranked catchers on this list
Correct choice on the Number 1 spot. Love me some JT Realmuto.
Kirk is a good catcher and took a huge leap defensively in 2022. And ya he is good with the bat. However he doesn’t hit for much power and he grounds into a lot of double plays. That’s one thing that is underrated part of Jansens game. He actually moves pretty well for a catcher and just ran into a lot of bad luck in 2022. If Jansen stays healthy, he’s going to have a monster season for the Jays in 2023. Has to be one of the best tandems behind the dish. Just under 61 days until spring training!
