Serena is clearly the GOAT, there's no shame for Sharapova with that W/L ratio. any other WTA players would have worse record if they met Serena for 22 times. Sharapova happened to met Serena for that many because she was always made it to the semifinals and finals of the tournament. Sharapova was better than 99% of her fellow WTA players (that 1% would be Serena, Henin, Venus). I miss Serena and Sharapova on the tour by the way. they were the icon of WTA.

The amount of talent Serena had to deal with was more than Martina Margret and Chrisse combined! I loved Steffi but I'm not stuck on stupid like most fans of this sport.

Please. Michael Joyce, Sharapova’s long-term coach and hitting partner, stated ( - with emphasis) that Serena simply did everything better than Sharapova. Serena’s weight of shot was simply bigger and the ball was heavier. If a player hits the ball harder at average speeds and ^far harder at [their fastest] speeds, how is the second player [i.e. Sharapova] supposed to defeat the player that you do not want her to lose to? Their fastest hitting speeds were not even comparable, especially on the forehand. Serena would frequently hit three to five times as many winners as Sharapova in this match-up. She is in central position far more. Lindsay Davenport, Mary Pierce, Monica Seles and Martina Hingis have ALL stated that Serena was both the most powerful and the most aggressive player that they have ever played. PERIOD. Serena has all of these intrinsic technical and stylistic advantages. The only part of the game in which Serena and Sharapova are matched is the ‘mental’ part - the part of the game How exactly Sharapova supposed to beat a player that is so clearly superior, in nearly every facet of the game? This is taking ridiculousness to an absurd level. “Williams averages hitting her forehands harder (73mph to 68mph), but her fastest shot of the tournament was an jaw-dropping 115mph backhand.” - Craig O'Shannessy, tennis analyst for the ATP Tour, March 2015.

Serena hitting 90mph - 95mph return winners off Sharapova’s FIRST serves, Australian Open 2007. Sharapova, at that time had best serving stats on the Tour (winning percentage, first serve), though she had enjoyed a few years in which Serena and her game went freefall, 2004 to 2006. Asian people are so frequently racist and obsessed about prioritising white people, while disliking blacks. i say this as a northern European that has been heavily educated by black friends!! you are uncloaking your own /intrinsic racism here …. you could never appreciate someone like Serena. In any case, they were not comparable as players. Sharapova’s own coach said that everything that Sharapova did, Serena simply did better - especially the forehand and serve. Their lopsided ‘rivalry’ is simply a reflection of how their games match up and nothing more.
