15. Ima Nanji? / Tsubaki Factory
- This song is just very bland and lacks any kind of color or identity for me. Tsubaki's brand is being over dramatic and anxious about the smallest things, but this failed to deliver the same emotion songs like Fuwari and Konya Dake expressed. It just falls flat. I love that Ami gets so much time though!!!
14. Kagiriaru Moment / ANGERME
- It starts off so dramatic and brilliant, but when the chorus hits I completely lose interest. It just doesn't match the energy the beginning had. I appreciate how it matches lyrically, though. What starts as self-doubt and negativity transitions to uplifting motivation. The instrumental reflects that. I just didn't like that change lol.
13. DANSHA-ISM / Tsubaki Factory
- It adds variety to Tsubaki's discography. That's all I can really say lol. The music video is so adorable, the lyrics are good; I just do not musically vibe with this song at all.
12. Seishun no Hana / Kobushi Factory.
- KOBUSHI LOSS!!! It's a beautiful song and it pairs well with Start Line. Personally, nothing will ever top Kobushi no Hana. But this comes close. It's only ranked low because I rarely listen to it because I don't want to make myself sad haha.
11. POP MUSIC / Juice=Juice
- The funky pop fun we needed this year!!! I love this song, I love this music video, I love the concept, I love the churu churu punyu punyu tapioca milk tea. My only reason for ranking it low is because halfway through it just feels like I've already listened to the entire song and I'm just waiting for the bridge.
10. LOVEpedia / Morning Musume '20
- CUTE!! SO CUTE!! SO REFRESHING!!! Again, only ranked low because I have the same issues with this song as I did with Pop Music: It has so little change-ups that it feels like I've listened long enough. Also: AYUMI'S LOVEPEDIA IS SO SO SO CUTE. Mei's voice in this is wonderful.
9. Junjou Evidence / Morning Musume '20
- Depending on my mood this could actually rank below LOVEpedia, but as of right now it sits just above it. It's very Morning Musume Tsunku EDM lol. The lyrics are also very Tsunku. It's a song that definitely could have done better with more solo distributions, but I love the small pieces we get. I like how the lyrics are enunciated, it makes it sound cool.
8. Mirror Mirror / ANGERME
- EDM FUNKY FUN!!!! This is just a super fun and energetic song, how can I not love it ????? Momona's line during the bridge........Thank you. Like I said in the video, I love when fairytales are reflected in lyrics. Here, the idea of a disco ball portraying a mirror (like from Snow White) to express someone's inner loneliness. Or an actual mirror as they put on makeup. Whatever. I LOVE IT.
7. Start Line / Kobushi Factory
- This soooo feels like a Buono! song that it gives me such nostalgia and sadness. You should be so happy! is one of my all time favorite lines. I just adore it.
6. Dakishimerarete Mitai / Tsubaki Factory
- I love Tsubaki's sad girl anthems. This one is so dramatic but done right. I like how the beginning verses are enunciated, how the chorus build-ups only to kind of just... collapse at the end. It's like the protagonist of the song is finally expressing all these withheld emotions only to feel defeated and give up. I love it!!!!! I mean, sorry to the protagonist but. Your pain is my music.
5. KOKORO & KARADA / Morning Musume '20
- It reminds me of Toki wo Koe Sora wo Koe. Need I say more?
4. Ishiki Takai Otome no Dilemma / Tsubaki Factory
- Again, Tsubaki Sad Girl Anthems Done Right. It reminds me of Fuwari, which I absolutely love. The pre-chorus is so beautifully sung, it's my favorite.
3. Gyuusaretai Dake na no ni / Morning Musume '20
- It was released only like 2 seconds ago but I've had the radio preview on repeat. It definitely gives me Morning Musume 2017 vibes; it's like a Watashi no Nanni mo sequel or something. The song, the melody, the lyrics, the video. I adore it all. Bunny syndrome.
2. Ningen Kankei No way way / Morning Musume '20
- AYUMI SOLO LINE AYUMI SOLO LINE AYUMI SOLO LINENRISDFSDF. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
This song is so funky and fun and the perfect companion to LOVEpedia. I love how it contrasts LOVEpedia not only musically, but lyrically. Girls not part of the typical center line-up finally getting the attention they deserve? HELL YEAH. This is my most played song on Apple Music for 2020, like I was OBSESSED.
1. Suki tte Itte yo / Juice=Juice
- This song is just a masterpiece. The dramatics and the funk matched with these lyrics that are just so sad and desperate. The protagonist is caught in a self-fulfilled prophecy and all you can do is dance to her suffering. The chorus hits so strong and then just GETS STRONGER. And the bridge!!!! Hello?!?!?! AMAZING.
