A sound is a narrow sea or ocean channel between two bodies of land. Seeing Bridgeport is oceanside it is safe to say there is a “sound”.

the Cleveland monsters Logo is Taken off of the legend of the Lake Erie Monster...(which the Name of the team used to be the Lake Erie Monsters) Plus im gonna make you happy here...they since taken off the name and the City from the logo on the Home jersey...

Wolfenfan23 Right, when they first came into the AHL they were called the Lake Erie Monsters and they were the affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. But in 2016, the Monsters became associated with the Columbus Blue Jackets and would go on to win the Calder Cup that same season. The year after, they changed their name to the Cleveland Monsters and they are now using the same colors as the Cleveland Cavaliers on their jerseys. But the logo has not changed

Here's the explanation to the fins on the background of the Barracuda logo. That is actually a company logo for the technology networking company Barracuda Networks. They are a huge sponsor of the team and that's actually one of the reasons they got their name. Also, you guys should do OHL logos sometime. I love your ranking videos so I can see where you rank my favorite teams. Like so he can see. :D

Yeah!! Go Moose Go, even though they suck. But, I do prefer the 2005-2011, logo, better colours.

I love your videos guys, but I think the funniest thing is when Neil is giving his explanation and honest opinion, and then Justin with his facial expression and ready to rip his friend's opinion apart 😂😂

Bridgeport is on Long Island Sound, hence “Sound Tigers”. The color scheme is similar to their parent club on the other side of the Sound, the Islanders.

I live in Rochester and trust me when I say the Amerks’ throwback jerseys and logo is amazing

It's more the 'Bridgeport Sound' Tigers than the 'Bridgeport' Sound Tigers. Yes, the name of the team is the Sound Tigers, but it's adjacent to the Long Island Sound, so the naming is based on that. Geez, I'm from the Prairies in Canada, much further away than they are, and knew that (as did the people from the area)...

I love your channel and you deserve more subscribers and I been here since 30 subscribers.You are the best KZread channel.I also like the San Jose sharks. I play hockey. The Roadrunners logo is based on the old Phoenix Roadrunners logo, which was from the 60's and the 70's. That's why it looks primitive and hand-drawn.

Fun post. Thanks for sharing this. It's interesting how some of the logos took a downward direction, some greatly improved, and some remained the same, at least to me. For instance the Admirals logo is a BIG improvement over what they wore when the team moved from the IHL. (They had two horrendous logos - a red, blue and white cartoon-like one from the IHL days that screamed Popeye the Sailor Man to lots of people, and an even worse one when they joined the AHL.) Conversely, I feel that the Manitoba logo, on the other hand, took a step backward from their original Minnesota Moose IHL logo. I do like how Rochester has retained its classic look for almost 50 years. I'd like to propose some from the past as improvements. For instance, there was the Hershey Bears logo from the 1970s where the bear was skating, holding up a brown rectangle that said "HERSHEY" looking much like the chocolate bar. I also liked the old Hamilton Bulldogs logo (either from their Montreal or Edmonton affiliation days). One of the finest logos IMHO today is an alternate one worn by the San Antonio Rampage. It is a artistic skull with teeth missing (i.e., the hockey part). On the night of their annual Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration in early November, they changed the name of the team to "Los Chumuelos de San Antonio" (translated to something like the people without teeth, since there really isn't a Spanish term for hockey). It's a very colorful logo on an even more colorful shirt. Being from Houston now (although I grew up in Chicago and lived in Rochester first), the IHL/AHL Houston Aeros logo is still one of my favorites. When first introduced in the 1990s, it was ranked #3 for minor league teams by The Hockey News. (This was VERY different from the logo worn by the WHA team of the same name and is one of the most unique logos of all time.)

You should do ECHL logos ! Some are pretty cool !

if you look between the L and S in the gulls logo you'll see a v shaped seagull. It's little details like that which makes it such a cool logo

As a guy who worked in graphic design for the Rockford IceHogs for 5 season: 1. Perfect analysis of the IceHogs logo. Font is brutal but still a fun logo. 2. Trying to create graphics advertising games with the Cleveland Monsters was so difficult... Nice Looking but WAY too wide to work with every other logo.

The reason why the Tucson Roadrunners logo is like the way it is is because it pays tribute to the old Phoenix Roadrunners of the 1970s. It's not lazy, it's actually a pretty great logo.

It's called a Sound Tiger because the Webster Bank Arena sits right on the opening of the Housatonic River leading out to the Long Island Sound.

Checkers is because if you look at a Hurricanes jersey, you will see it has a checkered pattern. Also, Justin, when was the last time you saw a random Penguin walking the streets of Pittsburgh.

although it wasn't in the video, the bakersfield alternate logo is really simple and nice, i think if they could somehow bring that to the oilers it would be sweet

As a Condors fan, that's the one thing that I'm glad happened with the redesign and new colors. I'm mad about losing half of our logo that we had used for 18 years, as well as the color change. But that's a SICK logo.

The Cleveland Monsters used to be the Lake Erie Monsters, which is a reference to the urban legend of the monster created from the nuclear power plant runoff in Lake Erie.

When Justin's analogy for the Gulls works perfectly for this channel.

Especially when the logo is blown up and stitched on a jersey or really small stitched on a hat or something. That was one if the issues with the old Panthers logo (which I loved btw) it never looked right when it was small. Simpler the better for sure

My favorite ahl logo is the Bakersfield Condors because I play for the Bakersfield junior condors

The Sound Tigers is for Long Island "Sound" which is a Body of Water that Bridgeport Ct is on and I think they are are affiliated with the NY Islanders which also borders Long Island Sound. Thank you Frank C.

The Tucson Roadrunners logo is a deliberate homage to the Phoenix Roadrunners teams that played in the old Western Hockey League of the 60's - 70s, the WHA and various other minor leagues. That's why it looks "retro".

Back Story of the Sound Tigers: The Team name was chosen from a name the team contest! The Sound is of the Long Island Sound, Tigers is for the circus and zoo in bridgeport!

It's water on the Wolf Pack logo, as a wolf pack is a term for a group of Submarines, and Connecticut is known for their submarine industry

The name Bridgeport Sound Tigers comes from where they play. Bridgeport is along Long Island Sound which is where the Sound in Sound Tigers comes from

My favorite AHL jerseys were the Houston Aeros when they were still a team. That logo was sick

1. The "Sound" in Sound Tigers is a reference to Long Island Sound, the tidal estuary on which Bridgeport, CT is located. 2. The Roadrunners logo made me cringe because it reminded me of the Toronto Roadrunners (Toronto's AHL team before the Marlies), and they're quite similar.

I should mention that the Vancouver Canucks are the NHL affiliate to the Utica Comets-- that's probably why they both have blue and green in their logos. :-)

The reason the Roadrunners logo is like that is because there was a minor league team in Phoenix called the Roadrunners, and Tucson's logo is basically a recolor of it. The previous Roadrunners played in the 70's ???? I think, so that's why it looks old school.

the gulls are named that because that was the name of the original san diego hockey team one that included some guys that played in the nhl including willie o'ree that is why it was chosen and it was also once the name of the WSHL team out of san diego but they changed it when they announced the AHL team

The SoundTigers are based out of Bridgeport, CT which is coastal city off Long Island Sound. Thats why they have the "sound".

I miss the old Logo for the Reign's. Instead of it being a Kings black and white rip off, it was a Dark Orange and Dark Blue with a Dragon as the logo and it was AMAZING!!!! Went to these games since 2008 and i come back in 2013 after a year of no going to one and see that new "kings" logo

Background to the Monsters logo: There is a legend that a Loch Ness type of monster lives in Lake Erie. That's where the name came from.

For the Griffins logo is the right claw is over Van Andel Arena (Where they play)

They are called the Sound Tigers because the city of Bridgeport CT borders the Long Island sound hence the name sound Tigers

The reason they're called the Cleveland Monsters because last year they were the Lake Erie Monsters and Lake Erie is rumored to have a lake monster

Orange and blue and blue and yellow go together because they are on opposite ends of the colour spectrum thus meaning they contrast each other.

the shark fins in the background is actually the barracuda energy logo

The new admirals logo is fantastic but I kinda miss the last one they had. I also wished they would do a stadium vintage jersey with one of their old logos.

soundtiger is due to the fact they play right by long island sound and BT Barnum started the side shows etc. in Bridgeport featuring tigers so they put the 2 together

The monster name for Cleveland is based on Bessie. It is a folklore monster that lives in lake erie.
