RANKED: which Cars use the MOST FUEL?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Now that gas is more expensive than ever, people are again talking about these [mocking] fuel-efficient cars with small engines and the appetite of an anorexic person. [proud] Well, that’s not what we’ll be doing here. Instead, let's talk about cars that go through a full tank of fuel faster than my wife goes through my entire KZread revenue.
Hey guys I’m broke, and this is my list of the thirstiest gas guzzlers ever made.

Something along those lines. That’s an insane amount of fuel. The technology has been out for a while though, many old gt1 race cars got approximately 2mpgs while on track. And those were regulated to 600-610 horsepower. They also had to slow down and accelerate out of corners though. In short Bugatti managed to move a shit ton of fuel in a short amount of time.

@@ryanrake2714I don't know about all GT1 cars, but I know that the F1 GTR had an mpg of 6 while most of the Group C cars (Mercedes, Porsche and etc) had mpg around 5.5, all that while the Audi R10 TDI had mpg of 5 (le mans is 13.6 km, and the car needed to be refueled on every 14ish laps which is roughly 195 km, all that while the car had 90l fuel tank... which means 46l per 100km or 5 mpg). The reason why I'm saying that is because I don't know of any race car with 2 mpg, and I will be curious to learn about it.

I remember watching an old Top Gear episode where they drove a Toyota Prius as fast as possible on a track with a BMW M3 V8 following closely behind and the Prius ended up consuming more fuel. What I learned there is that regardless if your car was engineered to be as fuel efficient as possible if you have a heavy foot, you'd still end up spending more money on fuel. A change of driving style is essential for saving fuel.

Yeah, brilliantly said Miguel. Part of the reason the Viper gets more mpgs than Stype thought is because the Viper is a very small, aerodynamic and light car so if u drive it efficiently that big ole V10 is doing close to nothing. Another car that comes to mind is The Jaguar XJS with the V12 it gets better fuel economy than a lot of the Mercedes V8s of the time (the Jag averaged 20-21 MPG and on the highway it did around 23-25 and if you drove it really efficiently it could even more!)

As far as I can tell, the M3 had less aerodynamic drag following behind closely. Myth busters, also in a way proved that aerodynamics plays a big role. They took 2 ford tauruses (?) and sculpted one like a golf ball, and was surprisingly more efficient even with the added weight of the clay or whatever it was.

Here in Germany current gas prices are about 2 Euro per liter which roughly equals to 7.95 USD per Gallon. A month ago it was even higher at 2.22 EUR/l (= 8.83 USD/Gallon). But a couple months ago (before the Russian-Ukrainian war) the prices were way lower - about 1.20 to 1,30 EUR/l (4.77 to 5.17 USD/Gallon). So indeed I would be more interested in a video about the most frugal cars ever made...

I’ve just bought the new Hyundai Tucson PHEV and it’s happy with 56mpg which i consider very impressive for a car this size! If I drive electronically and use the engine only for heating it drops to the 300mpg mark and if you don’t need heating at all it just doesn’t run the engine at all so…. Yeah SUVs aren’t really the right thing to buy if you worry about the environment but as a volunteer firefighter in a rural area there was just the need for a awd car which can handle off-road situations and with that in mind I’m very happy! And yeah, I’ll love the look of the N-line in shadow grey… a bit mean but not too much

Made a mistake with the Bronco. What you listed was the Bronco ll, the small SUV that was built upon the Ranger platform. Depending on what motor and drivetrain, they got pretty good fuel mileage. If you could find the 2.2L and 2.3L diesel 4 Bangers were are incredibly rare and collectible, you could even see 30MPG plus with those vehicles. I own an 83' Ranger with a 2.3L with 4WD and I get pretty good fuel economy averaging about 17-18MPG in the city and 20-21MPG on the highway. Not the best but good for a 4WD truck.

And yes, have to use highway sometimes to get faster to another part of our city, thanks outer ring with highway (as we call it here in Croatia - "obilaznica"). For city only driving it is about 5liters/100km average with average speed.
