Poliwrath is so annoying in Ultra I swear. It's still everywhere despite the Scald nerf, even Tentacruel is still super common in Ultra. Scald nerf definitely really just hurt Whiscash.

Poliwrath is mainly still as good as it is because of Icy Wind. Niantic giving it that move might as well have been a violation of the Geneva convention

Honestly I took scald off of whiscash before the nerf and switched it with blizzard. Much much more play with blizzard. First, you scare off most talonflames because they assume you have scald and when they switch into a grass you just pop that blizzard off and one shot it. It’s beautiful.

Giving it Icy Wind was a disaster, if Icy Wind was not 100% then it would be fine but the fact that you give a grass/flying coverage move onto a Water/Fighting already gives it such a strong moveset. Jellicent is definitely the way to go but it is quite XL hungry so if you can afford that then it's a good pick.

@@kyleiglesias275 not 100% sure. I personally use AP for the flying coverage and that wins each time. I actually always swap into a Tapu with my Gira and the cool thing is they always stay which bodes in my favor

awesome video, shadow gengar is insane! i have one question though, for the penultimate game, im wondering, do you think that maybe it would’ve been a better play to instantly switch to the fini when poli came in? cuz i know like maybe you’d want to farm with regi and maybe go for a zap cannon debuff, but cuz tapu walls poli’s energy, doesn’t it make more sense to insta switch and then save way more health on regi, which now in hindsight, would end up being helpful endgame against that guzz but i also could be wrong or missing something idk, im just a mid battler trying to improve so yeah, just trying to find out potential mistakes and stuff from the losses to help me learn

I love running legacy Sludge Wave on my ultra league Gengar just to throw opponents off guard.

@@phroskies , yeah. Gengar does have access to Sludge Wave. It is a legacy charge move. I used an elite TM a couple years ago to get it. 9 Shadow Claws is all it takes to a Sludge Wave.

The energy management to win that 3rd battle was just insane! Legendary play!

The regi swap was like sacrificing the 'Rookk' and then checkmate with pawn and king

I have 1 15 15 but 10 min before I got one I made on with 6 15 15

I actually play Gengar in the master league. Two reasons is cuz I don’t have enough candies for legendaries, and secondly gengar does very well into metagross and Mewtwo if you got shield advantage

Tapu koko can play with brave bird as well so that could be reason why he was typing only nature's madness vs regi

Idk if you've seen any VGC matches from recent Play Pokemon tournaments, but watching Shadow Gengar knocking out dark types with resisted moves reminded me of Miraidon OHKOing grass types like Amoonguss with Electro Drift. absolutely ridiculous
