I love how Rango interogates( and manages to threaten the mayor) while failing miserably at golf. Shows that despite being so out of place in town hes not stupid or a coward

I just watched _Chinatown,_ and it is clear that Ned Beatty's voice of Tortoise John is based on John Houston's evil character character Noah Cross, the villain who is trying to control the water supply.

"Call in Rattlesnake Jake." "Uh, Jake's the grim reaper. He never leaves without taking a blooming soul." That line alone shows how badass that snake is.

So he drowned mr Merrimack and threw the water before the chiefs took it so that they can be blamed for crimes they didn't commit and build new building after getting the idea from a building the other side of the road and learned to control the water ,but why he wanted all the citizens to die ,then how he could make money from those new buildings and how would he have survived with no water?

This This is how you write a villain The twist was you wouldnt think the chill mayor was the problem, till this scene. And you re examine all his previous scenes and realize hes 100% the villain, not even a side villain. Jake is the anti hero Not the villain

I love watching the “Rango” persona shifts in scenes like this. His confidence,conviction,and attitude towards the mayor was glorious and courageous

I agree. Very underrated voice-over performance.

Johnny Depp and Ned Beatty both carried this movie tbh. I loved how they can play their parts pretty well, especially Ned being the villain in both Rango and Toy Story 3! I am sad to see him pass away but his legacy will not be forgotten.

Acceptance is the best path forward Conflict will arise, but accepting that and moving on is he safest bet. When you actively grab the reigns of life, you usually end up fucking over countless other innocent lives. So dealing with a problem at hand is usually a better solution, then actively attempting to control a problem or solution

Rango is the best animated film, with the score, animation, cast, story, cowboy and comedy, the director did perfect for directing this CGI western comedy film

Ned Beatty definitely had his acting roles as a villain evolve in characterization. He used to play as Otis, Lex Luthor's dimwitted minion in Superman the Movie (1978) and Superman II. As I mentioned. His villain roles have become more integrated after a few decades: From dumb henchman to Calculating, ambitious, and manipulative masterminds. At least from what I noticed. And another thing The Mayor's voice, mannerisms, and ominously reminds me of Dutch van der Linde from Red Dead Series despite both characters having very opposite goals along with characterization, in different circumstances .

But, upon re examination Hes had it the whole time 😂😂😂 He didnt poor Rango a drink, cuz he was giving him a badge. Rango wasent giving anything to the mayor, so no water. And he had like 20 sheriff badges, cuz he manufactures their rise and fall as he needs them "These people believe in you" knowing he hired the hawk and jake to kill previous sheriffs

The turtle was not a VERYYYY unlikeable villain. He's the business guy villain, pretty good at what he does too. He's greedy but not bloodthirsty. And he tends to offer you an alternative like you can fit into the new world or goodbye. When Jake was about to kill Beans he actually tried to stop him. He could have just remained silent but tried to mediate the situation. You gotta say what's right. It is understandable that he wanted to kill off Rango since he was becoming a problem and blatantly refused the opportunity to be part of the Mayor's plan. Every villain has the mentality of destroying everything in their way. However it pissesed me off that he tried to kill Jake, because getting rid of the last gunslinger was not a strong motive to me. Yeah modern world has no need for outlaws but he was working for you and you summoned him...what a reward... But I got a feeling it was just because of plot... The Mayor's not my favourite character, I like Jake. They both are villains. Jake seems to be capable of respecting CERTAIN people (on the other side the Mayor offers opportunity to join him), he's generally brave (the Mayor is not) smart and strong (Mayor's cunning but not strong). Plus Jake has very cool eyes lol Jake strikes you immediately as a cool guy. Feared gunslinger (fame preeceds him), skilled with guns, cunning cuz he finds out Rango is fraud, clever cuz he knows how to torture you psychologically...Red sunset behind him the first time he appears. You see him and you say he's cool cuz he is meant to be cool Certainly you cannot say the same for an old turtle in a wheelchair All this rant to say one last thing: IMHO, if you say Jake does not deserve to die (and I agree) neither did the Mayor. Eve though it is a less likeable character

The Mayor isn't as evil as you think: The Mayor is telling people to keep up with the times and trying to make changes but the bad thing about it is that he's forcing that change on people by stealing their land, forcing hydration on people and killing anyone who isn't on board.

Mayor really had a good reason to kill off Jake. Jake failed to follow the mayor's orders (unruly and blood thirsty) as he tried to attack the Mayor for stopping him to kill beans
