RangerTrail hub repair replacement Part 2

This is Part-2 of the Vault DB-35 hybrid lubrication hub repair on a 2018 Z520L RangerTrail. The new hub arrived and is installed in real time in about 15 minutes. The new caliper is removed from the new hub. In part-1, the original caliper is removed from the damaged hub and set aside to be installed onto the new part. The video is in real time and takes about 15 minutes to install onto the trailer which is then ready for the tire and rim to be installed.

I am having the same issue. On my 18 520l also. My failed in November coming home also. I'll probably have to change everything. Looks like I tore up the brake caliper as well. This is going to be the second one that I have replaced. This time I am going to so it myself. Very informative video thank you

The brake caliper is torn up from keeping the wheel from coming off the trailer. When it is a complete failure, the brake caliper is the ONLY thing keeping the rim and tire on the trailer. If you ever fail to release the manual brake release and travel very far, the heat from the dragging brakes will cause premature failure as well. Not that I have ever done that! LOL

It should be very close to the 9:00 or 3:00 position if you did not pre-mark the location. You might try pulling the tire off the opposite side and measure the center of hub up to the fender to try to get the closest estimate. There are many teeth on the spline so it is very minor adjustment with each tooth. As long as you put the bolt through on the spindle you could put the rim and tire on and lower the jack to see the actual height in the fender well.

Been reading a lot about the grade (5) 5/8 x 4 1/2 torsion bolts that come with the torsion spindle and throwing them out and replace with grade (8) 5/8 x 4 1/2 because the grade 5 are known to stretch and come loose which will put a strain on the hub and cause bearing and tire wear.

I have not heard that myself. I have not had any issues with loosening, but you must use lock tight during install and tighten to torque spec.

Jeff, Take off the grade 5 bolts and throw them out, they WILL stretch after time. Replace them with all GRADE 8 stuff. I did it last year because I had a tire wearing on the inside bad, afetr replacing all mine with grade 8, NO ISSUES at all. It's not hard to do and you will not regret it. It's a must in my book
