Rangers vs Aberdeen - TITLE SHOWDOWN 1991

Rangers FC vs Aberdeen FC battle for the championship 11th May 1991 - Extended HD Highlights
If Rangers lose or draw the Title heads to Pittodrie, Rangers MUST get all 3 points to secure the league trophy...
Mark Hateley made sure that the title would be staying at Ibrox for the 3rd season in a row when he grabbed the two Rangers goals, the Rangers defence stayed solid with all the pressure towards the end and kept the clean sheet.
That would be Walter Smiths first title under Rangers and it certainly wouldn’t be his last as Rangers went on to dominate in the 90s clinching 9 back to back titles 🔴⚪️🔵

Love the upload! I was 4 back then but my big brother was 12 and was the one who got me into football and rangers and took me to my first game. He sadly died last year and I've been trying to get to as many games as I can. Going to see rangers vs tottenham tomorrow and we're looking good just now so I'm pretty confident of a result. Enjoying the new signings so far.

I was 9 at time and don't remember it live, i mostly remember Skol Cup 91 onwards. For this game notice how the Copland Road rise with Hateley for the opener!

I was only 11 years old but remember this side so well. The players we had during this period were unbelievable. All fighting for each other and leaving it all on the pitch every single week. WATP RTID GSTK.

One of the greatest ever Rangers goals by one of our greatest ever strikers. If he hadn’t been sidelined by injury for most of the previous 18 months England might have won the World Cup had Hateley been in the Italia 90 Squad.

It's weird to see Ibrox without the corners connected and with those big fence things. It should be changed again to get rid of those useless big screens and have the top parts of the corners connected as well as the bottom. Those screens were put in when they were popular during the 90s, when they were all the range at the time. There was a big explosion in big screens appearing everywhere & people just wanted them for the sake of having them! Nobody actualy thought about what are we going to use them for? Really just to put up the names of the players in the starting 11, maybe some footage of old matches b4 match kicked off and then the highlights of the 1st half at half time. Is that REALLY needed & more important than having more seats? More seats means more people get to get in to see the matches, the club gets more money and there's a louder, better atmosphere for the players. Really not sure why it has still not happened yet after all these years. They never thought it through properly & just got carried away by the whole big screen fashion & popularity at the time. David Murray always wanted to jump the gun to be up front with the latest trends to be keeping up with all the big clubs in Europe etc. It's exactly that knee jerk thinking that cost us big time financialy. Instead of thinking about the long term it was all about the here n now.

Cute Kanji, I totally agree with you, let's get more fans in, they say there's a massive waiting list for season tickets, we'll let's get the fans in and build the capacity up to at very least 65,000

@@deerhunter2218 yeah, we being the most widely supported club in Scotland should have the largest capacity stadium in Scotland. At least in football anyway, as i know Murryfield is the largest stadium. Not sure if that is 70,000 or what and they are 60,000. Originaly when the corners were done in the mid 90s they were supposed to bring the capacity up to 55,000. I'm not sure what happened if perhaps the big screen idea got thrown in towards the end or while the construction was going on as there's an interview with a David Murray from around 1993 or 94 specificaly saying the capacity will be 55,000. But then it was supposedly 52,000 by the finished article but it is always said to be 50,000 that is the capacity and when u check the attendence for the biggest matches of the season it is always 49,000 and something or now & again it's 50,018 or something so i am not sure what the actual max attendence is as particuarly in recent years u see big gaps of empty seats around the tunnel & the rows between the home & away fans. I know the covid thing ridiculously made stadiums have a dumbass empty area for some non logical reason but i can remember these gaps & 49 something thousand attendences for old firm games even b4 that. As u say there are so many on the waiting list for season tickets so there is deffinitely a huge demand for a bigger capacity. Plus there should be more general sale tickets available so people can experience going to the games but maybe cannot get a season ticket until years, can't make matches very often or can't afford a season ticket. But whatrever the reasons for, it needs to happen & if they'd have put the money into that plus other stadium upgrades over that Edminston House thing or whatever it is then it might have been done much sooner.
