Range Rover Classic - cutting out - ignition amplifier wiring repair

After the Range Rover Classic cut out on me a few times, I traced the fault to the connector that takes the coil wiring to the ignition amplifier.

The heat shouldn't be a problem with your repair - the engine is water cooled so the max' temperature is only around 100c. Tin solder needs 180c before it melts. The later engines had the amplifier mounted to the side if the dizzy as well with Dow Corning heat conductive goo. Temperature was never the issue, vibration was my theory why they failed - soldered connections don't like vibration over the years

You may well be right, I think also the wiring had just gone very brittle with age, regardless of heat.
