"I never get scared when I'm crashing... but I do get depressed because there's a point where you know you're done. I'm wrecking this car. I don't think I'm going to be able to fix it for the race." @@juaneer What do injuries have to do with anything? When did anyone mention injury? People that drive racecars only think about time behind the wheel. Your story about the ABS malfunctioning really struck a note with me. I once owned a 97 Chevy S10. One day it was raining pretty hard, and I found out that day that it had a bit of a wiring issue, because the ABS completely stopped working. It would not let me apply the brakes at all. I pushed the pedal and all it did was push back on me. I was coming up on a 4 way intersection where I didn't have a green light when this happened so I was not in a good spot there. It's a good thing I don't freeze under pressure, so I was able to stop in time by applying the park brake, downshifting, and swerving as hard as I could without crashing into something else. Once I stopped I quickly opened the hood and unplugged the ABS module, and then it was fine, but that was definitely one of my worse almost disasters.

I thought of that a few days ago. When I was a toddler, let's say 4 (so 1994), my dad had a '61 Bel Air project. 1994 - 1961 = 33 Today, I drive an '87 Buick. What year is it? 2020. 2020 - 1987 = 33 So basically, my '87 Buick is as old to the present day as my dad's '61 Chevy was to 4 year old me.
“I never get scared, I get depressed” Now that’s some famous words
This is why i have ABS disabled on my 90's race car, i had it do this to me once coming up to a red light and i nearly plowed into everyone, i managed to stop with the hand brake because i was going only 50.

I love the old turn 11. It was the best place to road racing in the USA as far as I know.
Damn, the part where he says he comes too is exactly what happened to me when I had my injury (spinal cord injury, more than 3yrs ago) as I remember everything before my injury like it was yesterday however, I then remember being in hospital not being able to move my legs and barely move my arms and having no sensation below my belly button. Apparently I was conscious in the ambulance and all but it’s like I was out. Maybe it’s the brain protecting you from psychological stress or something, I find it fascinating.

Ended up in the tall grass field on the outside of the corner. I was also told "The Brakes are fine!" but I always called bullshit.

I had some scary problems with abs on the track in a 95 m3. Abs sensor got gummed up with brake dust and rubber.

Nobody else would sound so jolly while describing crashing at 157mph
Concussion is no joke! I once went up a dirt jump on a mountain bike, No helmet, front flipped and smashed 100% upside down face first in the concrete/gravel and shattered my skull "hey diddle didle right down the middle" like 2 halfs on a chocolate easter egg (the odd titanium plate now). As I was being put in the ambulance the female responder said "oh he's going" and I thought "what's she on about? I'm fi" and then faded to black. Woke up in hospital and they asked my name and if I knew the guys by my bed (brothers) and where I lived. They asked for my age.....I had no idea. It's quite scary when you don't know something as mundane as your own age, I was 22 but I could have been 32 for all I knew. I also forgot the day or 2 prior to that. So yeah even a single concussion can badly screw with you and many like seen in the movie "concussion" don't bear thinking about other than...be safe.
