7:24 seeing Randy Johnson in the homerun trot is the greatest thing ever. I was at that first game against the Pirates in 1998 in the Astrodome, way up in the rightfield upper deck. The place was packed and it was electric in that dome that day. It was the first I'd seen Randy live and it was memorable. We got him from Seattle as a mid-season rental and thought it would push us through to the World Series but unfortunately that didn't happen. But he fucking dominated the National League that season (and beyond). FUCKING UNIT BABY. One of the most dominant pitchers ever to grace a mound. Surly six-foot ten southpaw with a sizzling slider. Imagine facing him.

That’s still the best slider I’ve ever seen. There was no pitcher I found more fun to watch when I was young. Great stuff!
I still remember. I drove from Columbus, Ohio to Ashland, Wooster ish. I listened to this game on my truck radio. I got to my mom's house and watched the last inning in the basement with my bother. He's alive today, but it was one of the last few times I remember actually talking to him.

Sickest fast ball slider combo in the history of ⚾
GOAT! 5x cy young dominated games During the steroid era and even after his prime. He was striking out over 300 a season and throwing no hitters in his late 30s with ease. Just a legend
Randy Johnson is a BEAST. Loved watching that man pitch.
20 K’s this guy was unbelievable. Imagine him in his prime on a good scoring team? 😯
Got to see Pedro Martinez and Randy Johnson make hitters look ridiculous in the steroid era. Got to witness them both pitch many times and saw Pedro's 1999 ASG performance live. Still have the ticket. So grateful to have watched these two work

I'm so jealous. Randy Johnson is one of my all time favorites and I never got to see him play in person. That's because he retired in 2009, and I didn't get into baseball until 2010. I wish I could've watched him live.

@Huawei is a criminal organization. steroids shorten your career
As a Mariners fan who had the pleasure of watching him pitch for us for 3 years, let me tell you, I've never closely followed a pitcher remotely exciting as him, not even Felix Hernandez. Every one of his starts were like a rock concert, you knew he'd rack up 15 K's every night and make mashers look like fools. It sure was gut wrenching to see him go.
GOAT! There will never be another even close to Randy Johnson ❤ 💪😩😭
He makes those 98mph fastballs look so easy
Greatest LHP ever.

Only guy i would probably put above him in terms of best lhp is Lefty Grove. But yeah I would put him above Carlton, Spahn, Koufax, etc.
I give kudos to the catcher! Jeez throwing Abomb after Abomb!
I'm a huge fan of RJ been watching him since I was a little girl
One of my favorite pitchers ever.
Love seeing ole' Randy again. When tosses those balls, he always squeezes tight. Back at LHS, couple of us guys wanted to break up his rhythm. Big Ricky and the Dirty Boyz, more Pepper than Jimmy, popped that treasure right open. Where he gets the nickname - Randy got a lot of experience with a Big Unit that summer.
Absolute BEAST!!!
Absolute legend!
Just having the “The Stroke” start up makes this video all the better!
Randy is the only man that gets me randy!!
The best pitcher of all time
and he had a home run!!! see yaaa this guy is awesome!!!!
I miss them old Astros hat, I still have mine
Not only the greatest left handed to ever pitch but one of the greatest pitchers to ever pitch hands down.
His mechanics were literally perfect

Randy Johnson is the best pitcher I've ever seen. He dominated in an era where many players were juicing up on steroids. I wish he would've won another ring, but one is better than none and he's in the HOF.

DeSeanBBN He didn't play on very good teams for the most part. While he had excellent run support with the Mariners, he was about the only good pitcher the Mariners had and the awful bullpen frequently turned his wins into no decisions, and elsewhere he often suffered from meager run support.
growing up this man was my idol. I was born in 95 so I got to see a good bit of him play. Most of my favorite players in the early 2000's (mark mcgwire) have been exposed for steroids. It has really been hard for me to accept but its a testament to randy johnson that he was that good, for that long, and did it naturally.
I love Randy Johnson
To think we had Griffey, A-Rod, Randy Johnson Martinez, and many other solid players yet we still never even made the World Series.....

I've never before seen pros literally afraid to be in the box. They look so defeated before the first pitch comes.
Randy’s years in Seattle were spent at the Kingdome, hardly a pitcher friendly park. Can’t believe the Mariners let him get away.
Legend.
Best Leftie pitcher EVERRRRRRRR! Unit was the man on the mound, he owned that field whenever he pitched! The angle and velocity that he threw, is what gets the batters fooled!
Miss this guy.
i just remember playing mlb the show 06 i think, not knowing a damn thing other than the yankees are now my favorite team and randy johnson might be the goat
Christ he doesn't even pitch the ball. He just angrily hucks it out of his hand at 96 mph...and he'd do that the whole damn game. Randy was such a beast, there's never gonna be a pitcher like him ever again...

the big unit
My two favorite players wore 51. Ichiro and Johnson
My Mom & grandmother didnt Like him but to me he was a Beast of a Pitcher it was really nice to have him on the Yanks
With delivery and height at 100 plus... It is like moving the mound up 3 feet. Shit has to look 110.
Confidence is throwing a ball over the batters head just to shake them, then throw three down the middle and strike em out. Goddamn, Randy Johnson
He had one of the best sliders ive ever seen
LEGEND
THE BIG UNIT EVEN AS A METS FAN AS A KID I WAS A FAN OF #51
Randy was a bad ass
It’s interesting how his mullet shrinks as time goes by 🤔
Billy Squire is great but nothing beats the sounds of the game.

Randy Johnson was the best slider the lefthander ever of all time.
Randy Johnson = Ks for days
bastante bueno randi johnson legenda
My favorite left pitcher.
LOL the best part is at 1:07, pitch right down the middle, guy jumps back a foot to make it look like it was inside
I can seem him retiring as a Diamondback, he had his best career feats but his Mariners stent was just as lethal. Thank you bullpen.

I beileve he did go into the HOF as a DBack
The Dale Earnhardt of baseball.
add the number of 1-0, 2-0, and other 1 run losses he had with the Mariners, give him a little better run support, and he'd be a 400+ game winner.... sooo many times he pitched a gem and still lost because the Mariners couldn't hit their way out of a wet paper bag... my personal favorite pitcher, and arguably the g.o.a.t.
I would never want to go up against randy, the guy has unbelievable power in his pitches and when you think it's a ball... Your out
Randy Johnson is the greatest pitcher that I ever saw. Even better than Greg Maddux.
