A big fan of "Pancho" as a kid, I also remember seeing Leo Carrillo in parades around Southern California, riding his horse with a magnificent silver saddle.

Brian Cisco ; I too remember Leo Carrillo riding his horse in a parade. We used to live in La Habra/Whittier. Around the first weekend of August, La Habra held their Corn Festival. Great times for young kids.

He was always the grand marshal in the Rose Parade in Pasadena I remember seeing him I was only ten at the time. Thank you for the wonderful tour and giving us the great history of him and his family

Husband speaking, i'm 78, I lived each week for the Cisco kid to come on. I never would have guessed that Leo was as old as he was playing his part as Poncho. He rode and moved like a young man. I don't remember the ad where Leo is pushing Weber bread, I do remember Annie Oakley pushing Wonder Bread that helps build strong bodies 8 ways. Growing up with all the cowboy heros, at our young age or even into young adults, we never think that the actors had lives beyond their movie or tv roles. This is the History I really like. Kids today have really missed out.

He was greatly saddened by the coastal oil wells on old Rancho land. I was read that he ran into some Spanish Don folks when he went into a dry cleaners for his silk shirts. To his great joy he found his old Rancho friends who owned the cleaners. He played on their old Spanis Don ranch as a boy and lost touch. They sold their ranch unwittingly to oil people who ruined it. Partly because of that he became huge on conservation. He did alota good that way. God bless him. His TV show was the only TV show I ever really loved as a kid. Carillo was so alive!

I was not really aware of this man, but it's obvious that he had a positive role and place in CA history. What a lovely ranch that must have been, particularly in its heyday. Thank you, Jeff and Sarah, for acquainting some of us with Leo Carillo.👏🤠💥

This guy was so much more than a character actor. Lovely ranch.

I remember Pancho's entertaining English "Hey Cisco, let's went"., ha ha ha. He was a great comedian. I enjoyed watching as a kid. Good to see this episode, great!

How cool! I was the foreman that built the main road Mar Vista Dr. To Leos ranch in early 90s. Placed water lines to ranch broken during road construction. Was on the ranch several times but not open. Small world. Did not all the facts. Thanks so much for the historic visit. Your the best. Thanks Jeff!

With my minds eye, I see them riding off into the Sunset after cleaning up the bad guys. "Oh Cisco, Oh Pancho" then, much laughter. These were great, Golden days for "aspiring" wannabe Cowboys. Thanks for watching! I'm glad part of it is still intact but was really shocked to see that photo of the ranch by itself back in the 1940s -- no other developments around. California is getting way too crowded but lots of folks are moving out of state because of what is happening here politically. The cost of living, traffic congestion, cost of housing and homeless encampments everywhere are all danger signs.

I loved watching reruns of the Cisco Kid when I was growing up (around 1967-1969). Leo's character, Pancho served as great comic relief in each episode. They would conclude every episode with the lines, "Hey, Pancho! Hey, Cisco", before riding off into the sunset as that great Spanish-flavored Western theme music played. Great show! Thanks for taking us on the tour of his ranch with you! :)

I’ve been to Leo Carrillo state beach a few times but never knew his history! Great family history in the golden state, and an awesome ranch! Would be a great place to have a Fiesta! 🇺🇸🇲🇽🪅🎊

Jeff thanks again for sharing the great historical story. I really enjoyed seeing his home. Eddie Rickenbacker was friends with Henry Ford during World War II and worked with him on building planes.

Thanks again for an excellent video. You keep adding locations to my bucket list. I really need to visit this ranch since I work about 1.5 miles away. You can only imagine what it was like 60 years ago before all the expensive homes and high tech and medical companies took over.

I love to learn about the early Hollywood stars.

When I was a kid I road my mini bike on the fire break trails behind this ranch. went to the high school in San Marcos just east of the ranch. From the hills you can see the ocean it’s a beautiful place that has been developed beyond recognition from the old days and the early California style. across the Paloma airport rd. Where this place is. was a famous race track for motorcycles. remember the movie on any Sunday.

Its great waking up to some history hunting on Sunday. Even when not interested turns out to be interesting. Thank guys!!✌🎃👍

Being a kid in the 1950's The Cisco Kid was one of my favorites. Was unaware that His family still owned that beautiful Ranch, Thank you both for sharing your time and see you next week!

I used to come home from elementary school and immediately turn on the TV to watch episodes of The Cisco Kid. It was a great part of afternoon rituals at my home growing up to start first with reruns of The Lone Ranger and then The Cisco Kid. Great memories of that show.

Nice tour! I wish I'd gone there before I left L.A. in 1975. We did however visit Wm. S Hart ranch a few times...

I want to go there! Leo Carrillo knew how to live! What a beautiful ranch. I also want to visit William S Hart ranch. ♥️

I met him and Cisco when I was a kid. They came to my home town in Arkansas at the time. I had pictures, but they are gone now, I wish I still had them. When you are a kid, you think they will live for ever.

I enjoyed this MORE than I can tell you! I first became aware of him watched old movies growing up in a suburb of Detroit. Then his series began while I was the right age to get excited about watching that. Later I became aware of his ranch and his conservation efforts in California but I had NEVER had the chance to view the ranch!!!! I can’t explain why I enjoyed his performances so much, perhaps it was the joviality often seen in his later in life characterizations. He certainly was an interesting fellow with a distinguished family history. Thank You 😊 again!!!!!

As a child, the Cisco Kid and Pancho were among my favorite Western stars. "Oh, Cisco!" "Oh, Pancho!" I've lived in San Diego County since the late 70s, and did not realize Leo's rancho was nearby in Carlsbad. If you know, is it now owned by the City of Carlsbad or a private organization? I worry that as the memory of such as Carillo fade, their homes, museums, and artifacts will fade, too. I reference the fate of Roy Rogers' & Dale Evans' museum and home. Thanks for the interesting tour.

The city owns a small portion of the larger ranch! Most all of the rest has been sold off with houses and schools nearby. Hope that answers your question! Thanks!

Some of the family history is tied into Rancho Guajome which seems to be preserved at this time. Leo is my relative by marriage.

Watched the TV show when I was a kid !! Poncho would say "Let's went, Sisco!!" I always thought that was hilarious!! Loved that show!! At the time, westerns were very popular. I loved all of them and wanted to live in California. Not so much, now. I did get to visit a few times. I even got to go to Disneyland when I was 12!!!I love the old movies and over the years, have seen Leo in many movies. He was a great actor. I read that he was a super nice person and I believe every word!! Thank you for your video and work.

I knew about Leo Carillo but it sure was nice to see his ranch. I'm 79 and can't imagine doing what he did at 70. He didn't look his age. A great guy who did a lot of good.

Leo did the movie Horror Island which I think it was his only mystery or horror movie for universal studio. Nice job showing the Ranch. It neat to have history preserved so future generations can look into the past.

I never knew this existed , but my Dad would take us surf fishing at Leo Carrillo Beach north of Malibu I believe. We actually spread his ashes there. Great video! I never knew that he was associated with the Cisco Kid.

This was great. I knew nothing about Leo and his ranch. Interesting part of California's history.

When Leo's grandparents married, Governor Pio Pico gave them Coronado Island as a wedding gift. They sold it twenty some years later for $1,000.

Thanks enjoyed it. There’s so much history in California that is not talked about or seen or even encouraged. It’s our children’s loss!

"Hey........, Cisco!" I watched a few episodes of The Cisko Kid. It was off the air before I was even born in 59. The ranch is pretty cool. I like the desert also. He had a nice place.

Went to grade school & freshman year with his niece, Suzy. A wonderful girl.

Excellent. Brightens and warms the cold areas of some viewers. Also in Carlsbad is Army and Navy Academy Military School. It's rather historic and many famous entertainers and world leaders have sent their kids there.

You did a great job on this! I found alot more from you about Leo. Then I could by using A. I. Which wasn't much help at all. Thanks so much for doing an outstanding job!

Love this episode! Leo Carrillo could trace his lineage back past Hilario Carrillo, who was born in Mexico of Spanish parents. It was a large family and is considered one of the founding families of California dating back to the 1700's. My wife can trace her lineage back to the same Hilario Carrillo and through marriages and births, is related to Leo (although it's distant!). I've learned more about California history doing genealogy than I ever did in schools!!! Thanks for this tour.

Wasn’t this farm on an episode of California’s gold with Huel Howser. It’s a good thing Sara’s animal attraction didn’t work here with the snakes. What a beautiful place. Thanks for the tour Jeff and Sarah.
