Thank you for the best advice I have ever heard.
Thanks to you I just got a 650 grain arrow set up. I used to be so caught up in speed is everything that I was shooting a sub 300 grain out of a crossbow. You definitely changed my prospective.

In 2010 when I bought my compound bow and initial arrows, I went with what books and people recommended to me for whitetail hunting and 3D practice (the light, fast, flat trajectory bandwagon). I bought Easton Flatline arrow with 100 grain points, and I shot those through last hunting season (buying more arrows as needed). Easton has discontinued the Flatlines. I have been thinking about going with heavier higher FOC arrows for a while now, and your videos were good. So I am now on the Dr. Ashby and RF bandwagon for this season. I am switching to 2 blade single bevel 125 grain Cutthroats or 200 grain Evolution broadheads and 100 grain Ethics inserts and 250 spine Sirius SuperNova 2.0s arrows. (My number one problem is still seeing deer on public land in Florida. I can't shoot them if I don't see them.) Wish me luck.

Buuut. Plenty of pigs!!!
I got an Orion test kit 200/250 & 3 250 Apollos with out the field points. I'm on the edge between them on the spine chart. Also, It takes 135gr insert Just to get the 250 Orions into the 500s with a 125gr tip. so, the spine It helped allot. 250s won. The test kit is an AWESOME IDEA for those on the edge on a spine chart or add extra weight to the front end. Saved me allot of money. I didn't shoot the Apollos. But, I did just need 90gr insert to get into the low 500s.
Thanks for the great videos and information. Screw the Haters. You have done more for the Bowhunting community than most could ever dream of.
Great information. Looking forward to your video with The Rocket Man.
I really appreciate your help and advice. Keep up your study and I will keep looking forward to seeing your info! If I could help I'd do it
I like your test kit. It gives me some good components to figure things out. The first conclusions from testing were clear (since all three of the choices I preferred to shoot were nock right I needed to move my rest left), but after a couple of adjustments, I am now down to some decisions, which I will get through. Anyway, thanks for putting the kit together.
Got myself all set on the test kit! Waiting for 200 spine Apollos to come back in stock. I check every morning.

I got the Apollo kit and used super glue, 1 hour epoxy and cool melt. None of these work shooting into a bag target! Do yourself a favor and buy Sirius’s epoxy! This worked perfectly and worth every penny! Setup is 70lbs @ 29.5in. Apollo with 125 outsert with 125 tip.

More vids Troy!!
I followed the formula, I now shoot 582 grain missiles, 17% foc 200 grain iron will single bevels. Test kit makes all the difference, follow the playlist
I got a Halon32 70lbs 28 draw and a pile of gold tip hunter pro 300 spine. I’m going with the 100 grain GT brass and I’m gonna test 100 grain and up field points. And I’m gonna make a second set of arrows from Sirius in 250 spine with stainless 100 grain and that arrow will have a single bevel
Awesome!
I'm ready for an Elite compound but this is great info for my crossbow too!...dang Coach,...lay off the weight bench before you need a bigger lens!!

Paintless dent repair hot glue works fantastic.
Troy everything was already spelled out. I just got new d loop and can't tune my rest low enough to match broadhead flight. But I can now hit my bag out to 135yrds with my setup. Alot of Kentucky windage lol but they are like mini spears at 683gr. My arrow is black eagle renegades 250 spine 30.5" with 100gr ethics inserts and 200gr overkill massia. At 70lbs and 30.5" draw and speeds crono at 233 fps. It has wore out my target quickly.

Jhunt, what do you mean by not being able to tune your rest low enough? I’m working on getting better at tuning my bow and don’t understand the reference.
@jhuntnfish6872
3 жыл бұрын
@@waynemorris1999 I will have to get my d loop installed higher because I can't move my rest down without getting fetching contact with shelf of my bow. Do to that my feild points shoot fine but broadheads still hit a little low at 20yd , 5" low at 40yd and 10" or so at 60yd. I used to think that broadheads flew different but not to gravity mass is mass. Also it was worse before going as far down as I could with new d loop. Hope that explains better.
You can use boiling water to reheat the glue to remove the inserts.
I can't wait to shoot my heavy adult arrows when my bow gets here . Arrow weight is 557 grains add the adult broad head to that brings my total to 682 grains on the vulcans
How do you know what kit to go with?
Thanks Troy for all you do! One quick question. When gluing in your inserts do you orient the Broadhead a particular way vertically, horizontally or does the orientation of the broad head even matter?Looking forward to your input.

I’ve not paid it any attention BUT THE ROCKETMAN says - horizontal should be the best position
@davemeise2192
3 жыл бұрын
@@RanchFairy I agree with The Rocketman. When I was setting up my bow many years ago and when it was windy I noticed how much it moved, or didn't move, depending on how the two blade broadhead was oriented. I started to set mine up horizontal and my side to side movement was reduced a lot. It's what I do now. I use hot melt and screw in the broadhead to see how its oriented. If it needs adjustment to horizontal I mark the insert with black marker, remove the broadhead and use a heavy, long field point and heat it a bit with a torch. Once the insert loosens a little I can turn it to make my mark (broadhead) horizontal. Works like a charm. For the future, maybe I'll mark and set them, clean up the insert/arrow combination and use epoxy. I've had a few come apart after going through a target and hitting the ground. I've never had one come apart on game but, other than the spine of a black bear, I haven't really hit any big bone yet.

Not everyone knows this, cyanoacrilate "super glue" MELTS! :) You have to get it hotter than "hotmelt" glue, but it does liquify neatly without burning or even discoloring at temperatures way lower than the epoxy in the carbon shaft. Boy does it hold better than hotmelt! I've got a target with at least a dozen points and inserts with hotmelt glue somewhere inside it.
