The Ramones are every bit as important as The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. To say they were ahead of their time is an understatement. I would bet that The Clash. The Sex Pistols, Sting, Billy Idol...are in this audience. True genius came in a strange package, but the passing years prove that The Ramones were true artists.

I then talked to this stranger about how she was in a bar when they played and she has Dee Dee pick to this day, It made my day, glad to know that people like her are still supporting great bands and sharing great stories about things i wasn't around to see!! It’s crazy to think about that my journey into rock n’ roll started in earnest seeing Johnny Ramone play his low slung Mosrite. I wanted to grow my hair and wear a leather jacket everyday at the age of twelve and my parents thought my brain had been broken because of how profoundly I had been impacted. It’s like a switch had been flipped. I loved and respected Elton John, Led Zeppelin, The Who.. etc, but Ramones was the first time I heard something and said “A guitar can sound like that!? I want to do that!”.

Sixteen saw The Ramones at the July 4th 1976 Roundhouse gig. Was searching round the side of the stage where Johnny had flicked his plectrum. Found it, then Linda Stein said do you want to meet The Ramones. Yup. Got taken to the dressing room where the group and Danny Fields were. Johnny did the talking. 'Did they like us?' Actually the audience were dumbstruck. Joey gave me a mini promo Baseball Bat which went South a couple of years ago. The autographs on an advert for the album walked in 1979. Went to the after show party and spent two hours with Joey just rapping. Put me on the guest list for the Dingwalls gig. Slept rough and hitched 50 miles the next day with one penny in my pocket. Van picked me up and bought me breakfast. May have the plectrum somewhere. Happy dayz. They changed the World. Saw them about 20 times. Hard to believe they are all gone.

I feel the same way as well. Only I’m a 31 yo man and have been listening to these guys since I was a freshman in high school. Everyone knew me as the guy who loves the ramones. Wearing a ramones tee and white canvas slip ons. Would watch these live videos and rent them from the video store and learn how to play guitar and always rewind certain spots to make sure I’m getting it but most importantly I was learning how to play guitar like Johnny Fuckin Ramone 😎

Having seen the Ramones some 35 to 50 times or more something amazing would happen when they would turn on. It was like a symphony of sound. It's hard to explain you... could almost hear keys and strings just a total whole big monstrous sound but with real substance. Joey's vocals later on got so wobbly which made it even better. He barely enunciated the words..God I miss them so much. We never went a year without seeing them at least 2 or 3 times. Some nights back to back. Your head would feel like mush after a show!

Yeah they were the first. Circle Jerks and DKs took it to the next level. But Ramones were the best, the Beatles of punk rock

One of the bands I really wish I'd seen live. Miss these types of gig - total mayhem, fug of cigarette smoke, sweat, sticky floor, tinnitus for the next day or two . Keep you eyes peeled on the floor when you leave and come away with a pocketful of loose change and lapel badges.

This is the birth of punk rock right here. Every Englis kid at this show started a punk band and the best decade of rock music was ignited.

I saw them four times in Mad City Wisconsin. My Xerox art buddy, Aly Mansion, first hipped me to them. caught their tour supporting, I think, Rocket to Russia in a tiny upstairs rock club, kinda like a rec room in the sky. then I was on my own, saw them everytime I could and never looked back. Alyx became a kind of art snob and the Ramones were the antidote to phonies and believe you me we had plenty of those back in those days in my town. anyways, just love this video. it brings back those live shows more than anything I've seen yet. you rock whoever you are. god bless you and thanks a load of ggh.

I was in Barcelona for the shows they used on Loco Live LP, I even took some of the photos for album cover because the guy who was supposed to have done it didn't turn up! For my tastes, they played too fast by then and the guitar lost its driving beat and wall of sound. This is the best that The Ramones sounded. Its Alive the best live LP ever.
