Yes that says a lot about the true inner person... especially Till Lindemann since a lot of people say he looks scary or he looks psychotic etc. He does that because of his stage fright..that's one of the reasons they started using fire as a way to detract attention from till Lindemann also I've read that in real life he's very kind.. an absolute sweetheart...i mean he's been called Tillbear... cause he's like a big giant teddy bear ❤️😊

Till performs the song from the father's perspective. "Welcome... to the DARKNESS!" Come with me, come into my castle Fun waits for us in the basement there Silent, silent, we want to be Liberate the moment from time Yeah, paradise lies under the house The door falls closed, the light goes out Are you ready? Are you good to go? Welcome…to the darkness! To the darkness! No one can disturb us down here No one, no one must hear us No one will discover us We enjoy life And (because) you are alone sometimes I plant you a little sister The skin so young, the flesh so tight Under the house, a love nest Are you ready? Are you good to go? Welcome…to the darkness! To the darkness! To the loneliness To the sadness For eternity Welcome to reality And when you walk through a deep valley Are you ready? And if your life (existence) was without light Are you good to go? Fear no misfortune, fear no torment Prepare yourself I am with you and I hold you I hold you in the darkness! In the darkness! I give your reaction a 7.5 for not looking into the lyrics.

You should not feel conflicted. They process many sad and disturbing events in their songs. Like the Cannibal of Rothenburg (Armin Meiwes) in "Mein Teil". Artificial fertilization and artificial life/womb in "Mutter". Child abuse in orphanages in "Mein Herz Brennt" and so on. Music is a tool to process feelings and so it's not bad if you trigger them with topics that are bitter (the bitter truth). It doesn't always have to be about sunshine and lollipops. Besides that, look how much respect comes out of this performance. There's no pyro (which for Rammstein is worth noting), no excessive stage shenanigans. They are just playing and telling this awful story respectfully, which makes it even darker and more true.

another important fact to be stated: after Rammstein released their first album Herzeleid, many abused women wrote thank you letters to Till for openly speaking about rape in Weisses Fleisch, since the song is focused on that topic.

I am at 02:40 and I have just roared with laughter at your "Oh God". We told you it was dark as fuck :-D You should have the lyrics up, there would be more "oh gods". "And if you feel lonely, I will put a sister in you". We all feel guilty enjoying it, and that is exactly what they play on. Rammstein are very intelligent guys, they dive into the darkness to take you there and make you experience guilt to make you more aware of the dark side you have within. It is very German and in Berthold Brecht's traditions, enjoy it; it will teach you about yourself. Also note the absolute hatred in Till's voice and body language. And I work with youth, teaching in the Danish gymnasium, you are right; they do work harder than we adults did when we were their age, and harder than most adults. I believe this is probably Till's best performance ever. It is the best I have seen.

This is from the perspective of Josef Fritzl, and I think that I did read somewhere that Till mentioned that it would be cowardly to narrate such stories (I don't think he was specifically referring to this one) from the perspective of the victim. Thinking about that, I had to agree, because normally if you hear about such cases (newspapers, TV, documentations) it is from the perspective of the victim. And even if it is not intended there might be some slight victim blaming going on. By narrating from the perspective of the perpetrator, the blame, anger, disgust etc. is completely and solely focused on the abuser.

I really appreciate your reaction/review- you've got so much experience with the show end of things that you pick up so much technical stuff from the music and the performance. And I get your being torn. When I listen to Rammstein it's SO HARD because you want to appreciate both the technical teeth of 'em and also just... well vibe I guess. That's why I have them on my sledgehammer workout playlist And yeaaaah... the lyrics are... I was a bit guilty at first, but they're so theatrical that it makes it easier to separate the story/lyrics from real life. You're totally right, though- way harder with Wiener Blut. Less with, say, Hierate Mich which is about necrophilia. Also the lyrics are opposed to how kind, hard-working, and generally cool the guys in the band are in real life, which helps.

What you said about the 'solo spot' is exactly right, there's no complexity to it - but it seems like for Rammstein it's much more important that everybody in the crowd enjoys the show. In this song, the piano tune is introduced BEFORE Richard's guitar strum instead of alongside it, so that people notice both of them on their very first listen. In the early performances of Weißes Fleisch and the current , 2019-introduced concert intro (in the prelude to Was Ich Liebe), the band members start playing pretty much one by one, as if they want you to remember what each of the instruments sounds like and thus notice more of their cool tricks as the show goes on.

Great reaction, I like how you go into details of the performance, it's really interesting to hear :) And I know totally what you mean, They have quite a lot of songs that are difficult to enjoy, though they're cool to listen to. Especially when there's no dark humor involved. I do agree with many other fans that we should be allowed to enjoy it though, even if the message is disturbing. Like many others have said, it's important to be able to talk about these things so they'll not be forgotten, and I never get the impression that the band's intentions are truely sinister, but rather that they have a dark mind who really sees all these awfull things that happens in the world. It probably is very theraputic to be able to but this in their art. This rings especially true for Till, the singer, I'd imagine. Some of the other members seem a lot mor happy-go-lucky! :D You should watch "Mutter" later, a heartbreaking song on difficult relationships between a mother and a child, told from the perspective of a "cloned" child ("Made in haste and without sperm): kzread.info/dash/bejne/dntttseFebbTirg.html or Haifisch, a song about the band sticking together, which is both hard work and rewarding at the same time: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gGt6usGig9uunps.html If it's fire you're after, then these are rather lacking though. Mutter has a short (though effective) segment with fire/sparks near the end, but Haifsich has no fire at all. It does however have a pretty fun stunt midways in the song, that I don't think I've ever seen any other band do. It's worth checking out! If you still rather would choose spectacular fire (and more from Flake on the keyboard), you should check out Feuer Frei: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nolqypKxYZvWl6w.html The video has maybe one or two glitches, but I don't mind so much. A lot of people react to a different performance, from Russia, but that's fanmade. This one here is a proshot with better audio/video Feel free to react to any or none of these! Wow this was a shocking video, after reading the lyrics and the subject matter. Just based on what I’ve learned on my job and the training I’ve had, this would appear to be one of those stories of a victim who was groomed to believe everything was normal even if it didn’t feel right. The lyrics seem to speak from the father, but is told by the child, what he said to her to make her submit. But it also feels like she is relating how she felt, being held in the darkness, and being told it’s ok to live in that darkness by someone whom she should trust. I’m willing to bet this was a long term abuse, and people questioned the victim as to why she never said anything. But those people don’t realize it was all she knew, the father made sure he controlled her completely. She probably only knew that life but hated everything about it. Hope the father fried, I’ll have to research this more. Never thought one of your videos would get me in research mode.

  • @timothydavid4565

    @timothydavid4565

    3 жыл бұрын

Yeah so that was a horrible story, and the father didn’t fry, but is in jail for the rest of his life. So the girl was abused at a young age, but wasn’t locked up until she was older. Probably when the father didn’t think he could control her. If the timeline is correct when she turned 18 the father locked her up in a dungeon for 24 years. She was 42 when she was found, which was through luck and some good hospital staff who took the time to follow their instincts rather than dismiss something. She ended up having 7 kids during that time. 1 died at infancy, 3 were kept locked up with the victim, the other 3 were raised by the father. This subject was really methodical and sadistic, apparently he boasts about how he is recognized as one of the worst offenders, with no remorse. He also had that common feature of being well known in his community as an outstanding citizen, which most of the worst known offenders share. Like most of these types of offenders one small mistake caught him, if that hadn’t happened that poor woman and those kids would probably still be an unknown. Crazy stuff.

I know this coment is two months late, but no, this song is sung from the perspective of the father. Singing from the perpetrator's point of view is something Rammstein specialise in. It's incredibly effective, creepy and disturbing, which is exactly how they want the story to be perceived and they have been thanked for it by actual victims. Hearing the story from this point of view makes it so much more horrible than just singing about it.

This song refers to that Austrian (Thats why "Wiener" Blut man who had locked his daugher away in the celler for 24 years. He raped her time and again and fathered 7 children with her. She wasn' t allowed to go out. Thats why Till sings "Iĺl keep you in the loneliness, in the darkness, in sadness for ETERNITY"

Honestly....I'm kinda glad this didn't have pyro. Don't get me wrong I love pyro....but I get the feeling that if there had been pyro it might have detracted from the song a bit.

@@THEDavidHeretic I actually prefer the song with the pyro. It under scores the theme of the song with the cellar children that the daughter had. Also the intro to the song has better story telling too. If you're so inclined you can check it out here at your leisure. vimeo.com/169711734

I've seen the madison square garden performance and I don't recall seeing any pyro which to me that means like actual fire 🔥 so I went back and watched the performance and I'm guessing the fireworks explodiing in the back was the pyrotechnics? To me both performances are great but from my personal choice I still like the Wacken performance better. Although the hanging doll's with the green laser beams were creepy and cool looking.

I like the no pyro also.. knowing what the song is about doing anything overly crazy ..i can't find the words of what I'm trying to say.. . Disrespectful? The explosions @MSG were acceptable..but anymore than that would not have been in ...i guess you would say.. good taste?

the reason why Rammstein writes songs in a perspective manner instead of deliberately saying you "hey this happened" is to make you experience the feeling of terror of the victim (weisses fleish, mein teil, stein um stein, this one, etc) and therefore make your brain work out your own conclussions about it, how it doesn't praise it, it just exposes it as if you were hearing that rapist piece of shit talking, so it's good you feel uncomfortable about it, unlike other metal songs such as in death metal, terror in Rammstein songs come from a more realistic way that doesn't glorify it. I think a close equivalent to that is "daddy" by Korn

I’ve chosen to get through life enjoying Ramstein in blissful ignorance. I’d always heard that they have some super dark lyrics. Thanks for ruining that David! The songs Jeremy by PJ and Zombie by the Cranberries bring up the same darkness. While they’re great songs they take you to dark thoughts that make you sad instead of happy.

Sorry I didn't know either....I have to be very careful with Rammstein now....every step is another landmine.
