this is classic

Sonne was released in 2001 and the very first day I heard it I had to play it again and again. And the song never got boring. The video is a masterpiece in and by itself (like all Rammstein videos) and especially the two short scenes with the huge bass/guitar I really love.

Love Richard's huge guitar, such a beautiful detail.

The song was written as a pre-fight entrance song for Ukrainian heavyweight boxing champion and current mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko. His management rejected the song because it is too heavy. But the band, thank God, thought the song was too good not to release it. The guitarist Paul then had the idea with Snow White, because the dwarfs there said Snow White is our sun.

The Woman is supposed to represent Schneewittchen who is a character of a german fairy tale. She was poisoned with an apple by a jealous queen of a kingdom because of her beauty. But when the apple left her mouth she was alife again.

If you have seen their video Deutchland, you would probably notice that it's the same casket they use to save Germania (Sie ist der hellsten stern von alle).

The first idea for this video was discarded, it was about the Hiroshima bombing. You see the band members as the crew of the B-29 "Enola Gay", on its way to Hiroshima for the first nuclear attack in history. Japanese witnesses said the nuclear blast was like the light of ten thousand suns. "Here comes the sun" (nuclear fire) and counting 1 to 10 was the time it took between dropping the Bomb and the explosion (in real life it took 43 seconds). This video was meant to denounce the horror of a nuclear bombing, but was discarded because the band thought it could be misunderstood, and people thinking they were making fun of this tragic event.

Snow White is a fairy tale by the Brothers Grim. Grim's fairy tales are all based on real crime cases that happened in Germany and were then rewritten into fairy tales suitable for children over the decades. The 7 dwarfs from Snow White were originally miners and the Princess (?) Snow White took refuge with them. However, things were a little rougher there than in the fairy tale, since Snow White was correspondingly snooty and the miners were rather rough fellows. In the past, miners were very often children or short stature because they can crawl better into narrow mine shafts. Accordingly, in fairy tales they were first "little men (mostly with long beards and pointed worker's hats), which were then called child-friendly dwarfs. Rammstein incorporated their version of the origin fairy tale Schnewitchen into the video

I only get the meaning of hard working dwarfs that work for their "sun" and its some kind of gold she can sniff, but it´s not the golden shot yet. The song itself was menat to be the entry sond of a famous boxer (very probably Wladimir Klitschko). I heard you are a bit into lyrics, so maybe the official video from "Ohne dich" is interesting for you.

Ohne Dich or Rosenrot are more serious. you might like them more.

This music video is based af. Throw out the German folklore for a second. You can't put women in charge of anything, otherwise they'll abuse their power and destroy themselves. They're too emotionally incontinent and immature to do anything else! On the other hand, men will work themselves to the bone to provide for their mistress, entertain her deepest desires, and of course mourn her death with all their heart and soul. Of course, the self-destructive mistress is bailed out, time and time again by her fertility! Rammstein saw it way back in 2001: feminism is cancer. It may shock you to learn these guys are all devout Christians, but it's true, and all the memes about strict limitations on women all throughout history in every culture is juxtaposed with this perverse retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I think I have a new favorite video of all time now! Ha!
