There is another interpretation of the lyrics. Love at sea when there are no women. "One leads the spear to the man" I think the rest can be imagined with a little imagination.

In Germany we sometimes call the accordion the "sealord's piano". Flake plays a kind of steampunk version. Great song, great performance 💖 Aaa-Hoy... ⚓

fun fact: the arenas of nimes were built 2000 years ago by the romans… and have been in operation ever since (not necessarily as a place for shows but also for homes during the Middle Ages for example) definitely the best place to have a concert. the Romans knew how to build for good acoustics the Rammstein concert was great, it was my first and it gave me luxury tastes ^^

Weirdly, I decided to dig out my T Shirt from this tour this morning, so I happened to be wearing it while watching your reaction. February 2005, good lord! Upside, it’s a medium size and still fits. Brixton Academy (London Show), a crazy £25 (35 dollars) a ticket back then: some of the songs from those shows are on the Volkerball DVD.

There's so many possible interpretations of the song. I agree with you and the other comments that have already made suggestions. I would also add that there's a lot of military/naval connotations to the song and its performance. Reise, reise is the wake up call on German naval ships. Till comes out on stage as a caricature of a robotic military man, dressed in a way reminiscent of older naval uniforms. Yet another thing to think about with this song and performance 😂.

The Arena of Nîmes (French: Arènes de Nîmes) is a Roman amphitheatre in Nîmes, and is 2,000 years old and how Rammstein got a permit to play there beats the crap outa me lol

"Les Arènes de Nîmes" is also a festival where several bands play every year, and there are other events there all the time. Old doesn't mean no longer used.

In terms of the best audience this gig rivals Paris and in some songs is better. Check out Stripped performed here too.
