It songs like this, where till's voice is so intense, that really help you realize the power he has with storytelling. Edit: don't ever apologize for how you feel. It's almost like the song was precisely created to make you feel how you feel

I guess this is the most cruel, painful and still beautiful in in its darkness song from them. Even though there was Wiener Blut earlier, Weisses Fleisch and many others. This one is fulfilled with pain and insanity

Also, I had to come back to say Till is such an extraordinary human being. His mom wrote a letter about him and it is so touching. At the end she says: "Just like nature. He walks along the lake under the open sky and knows the animals that live here. He reads a lot and then explains amazing things to us. He knows most countries of the world and they know him. When I was in Moscow, many young people wanted to shake my hand because I was, after all, the “Rammstein mother”, and a man of my age explained to me enthusiastically the uniqueness of this band. In the videos of their performances all over the world, you can see how devoutly and fervently the audience sings along with the lyrics in German. In Mexico City, it’s no different than in Tokyo, Rio, Manchester or in Budapest. He experiences all of that. But that is nothing compared to a Mecklenburg sunrise over the moor, he says, when you see the deer coming out of the bushes and you can hear the different animal sounds in this great silence. This incomparable sky, the clouds and lumps of mud on his shoes, this landscape grounds him and also makes him humble. I - like so many others - like to be with him. The fact that he’s famous plays no role. Only sometimes does his fame strike me with quiet astonishment: what a man. If I didn't happen to be his mother, I would’ve liked to be friends with this man." If that's not touching, then nothing is. I encourage everyone to read the full letter. It's called My Son, the Frontman of Rammstein. ❤

Theres a lot to the song. Its not just singing a song, its performing a song. Till is so great at painting pictures with the lyrics, being very visual. Changing up his voice, trying to be the characters in the stories. Makes it far more expressive. Plus the music is perfect for it, very eerie, hard and dark, lots of little sounds scattered through it like ambient noises to build and set the scene of the story like youd expect in a movie. So well done

Hello there. First time I listened to the song, I had to take off my headphones because I was deeply shocked by the intensity of the song. It shook my soul. I remember finding myself to having to catch my breath. It's so sinister, powerful and weirdly beautiful. The live performance is fanatic as well. You should definitely check it out. With love from Germany 😎 🤘🏻 Btw have you noticed that the front image on the T-shirt is a compilation of all faces of the band members? Brilliant.

Einfach unglaublich!

I think you have to go to a very dark place in your mind to be able to sing the way that Till does in Puppe. It shows not just his story telling abilities, his abilities as a lyricist but also as a vocalist. You know from the outset that it's going to be unsettling but they really do ramp it up in Puppe. My son, who isn't a Rammstein fan but accepts that I am, refuses to listen to Puppe because even though he doesn't understand the lyrics it just freaks him out. The pain, the anguish and the mania in Till's voice is as phenomenal as it is unsettling. At my first listen, I had to stop what I was doing and take a moment. This is Rammstein though, so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised even though we are.

Hello. This song is a true masterpiece. Within many that the band has. This is without a doubt in the top 5. The sound of the drums, the interpretation of till, the flake effects, make this song powerful. This album, like all the previous ones, has excellent songs (personally, all of them, all of RAMMSTEIN's albums are a masterpiece). They all have a charm. The power of sound in each instrument, interpretation of till, lyrics for all tastes, etc. RAMMSTEIN IS THE BEST BAND OF ITS GENRE ON THE PLANET. THEY HAVE NO COMPARISON.

This song is on my cleaning playlist. I don't know why but it gets me riled up, after a while I read the lyrics and I couldn't understand why it felt like an anthem to me. Maybe even more so once I understood the lyrics, it's almost a "fighting" song.

  • @berlindude75

The translations can only attempt to convey some of the meaning. For instance, "Daunenbeet" is an intentional variation of the typical word "Daunenbett" for lyrical and rhyming purposes. "Daunen", the first part of both words, refers to down feathers (from ducks or geese) which are a typical filling material for pillows and duvets due to their softness. In the second part, "Beet" refers to a bed of flowers rather than an actual bed, like "Bett", for use by humans to sleep in. English does not differentiate between the two in spelling.

Thank you so much for this one! This song is really, really special. And it is one of my top 5 Rammstein songs. But let me tell you what happened when I first heard it. Actually, I was so fascinated with it that I was playing it almost constantly on repeat for two days. And the second day in the evening I just realized that there was something wrong with me. I felt like I was literally losing my mind. It was so weird and so scary that I stopped playing it immediately and promised to myself that I will never do the same thing again. So after that I have been listening to it quite often but only once or twice and then I would switch to another song. So I'm really careful about it but "Puppe" might be even the most special, most hypnotic, darkest and most beautiful song in the world to me. BTW, thank you for sharing all of your toughts with us. I love listening to you. And I'd love you to go live and talk to us about Rammstein. I share so many same feelings and thoughts with you about them, so you will be assured that you're not alone. 🖤🖤🖤

Live he is preforming as the child. A child dealing with seeing someone so horrible and not understanding his feelings. The music fits with the Till’s lyrics and voice. He immerses itself in the character of the song.

Parts of the song leave you feeling as trapped as the medicated child locked away as their sister is harmed, then other parts give you a sense of wicked vengeance as that child bursts in and moves from symbolically to literally enacting violence against the sister's attacker. It is deeply uncomfortable and unsettling, and this song makes me emotional every time I hear it. I truly don't know if any band other than Rammstein could do this song justice. Thank you for this very authentic reaction.

Rammstein was the first heavy metal band I listened to, I think back when I was something like 8 years old. At that time I was so afraid of Ich will. I grew into a fan of the band. A few years ago I was cooking while listening to the album for the first time and then came Puppe. It shook me a lot it was so dark. I forgot almost all the german I knew so I search for the translation and I was even more shook. I never heard a more disturbing or dark song ever and I agree with you, this song isn't for everyone. Your reaction was perfect honestly, this is the perfect example of how music is art and how art can convey feelings. Sometimes it's very dark feelings and sometimes its some of the darkest feelings you'd feel in a while. It's so disturbing and dark and so well crafted at the same time. That's the one song I would never recommend to a friend I'm not 100% sure they had the strength to endure it

I've said it before, I think, but my opinion is that Till is more of a storyteller than a singer, although his voice is superb. his work as a poet is already an extract of the musicality of words, of rhythm, it is his musical instrument. and he's so good at it, especially with german. Thank for the react ! (I think I'll wait before suggesting hallomann >

"Dam Dam" seems to be a reference to an old German Schlager by Drafi Deutscher "Marble Breaks and Iron Bends“. The beginning of that Song is “If the sun doesn't always shine, Dam Dam, just remember that you are mine Dam Dam“. Every word in the texts of Rammstein has a meaning.

You really have a good perspective of how to face this kind of stuff (in my personal opinion conservative people just look other side and try to denied this reality for so much people) for my is important to bring this kind of topics to light, thing that Rammstein and other bands and music do, like the song I'm not Jesus by Apocalíptica with Corey Taylor, as the song of Rammstein - Hallelujah.

This is by far the most disturbing thing I've ever heard from Rammstein (but its so cool!!!) ! But it tells a story - one that some in every country in the world live, sometimes more, sometimes less! On the other hand, the situation of a certain minority is turned on its head - but this minority shouldn't really exist either! This song is a symbol for the abysses of every society!

I will tell you a secret about Rammstein. Their songs are mainly about people at the bottom of society. Shocking Conditions like Cannibals(Mein Teil) Puppe, a prostitute with a sick brother All are true stories from the deepest ground of society you will ever find. It leaves a feeling of helplessness, to what extent human beings can sink. It is like a mirror and you will feel uneasy at things you ignore, but they exist.

It is really hard for me to listen to "Puppe" and "Wiener Blut" cause I knew more than one girl who has ver disturbing childhood experiances. It is good that someone write songs about this theme ... don't get me wrong. But it makes me so angry to think about the broken souls.

mhh it's really hard to have a good translation for the lyrics on this one imo!! As a german speaker the lyrics translated don't really capture the mystic/fairytale style of german words used in this song .... (atleast in the quiet parts)
