Elemental, bard, barbarian?
... The song is inspired by the case of Armin Meiwes and Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes. In March 2001, in Rotenburg an der Fulda, the two men aged in their 40s met each other, cut off and cooked Brandes' penis and consumed it together. Afterwards, Meiwes killed Brandes - with Brandes' permission - and ate his remains. As a result, Meiwes was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in jail for manslaughter, but was later charged with murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. According to bassist Oliver "Ollie" Riedel, the song came about after "one of our members brought a newspaper to rehearsal and it had a story about the cannibal guy in it. We were fascinated, shocked and amused at the same time". Vocalist Till Lindemann stated, "It is so sick that it becomes fascinating and there just has to be a song about it".[2] A prominent phrase in the song is "... denn du bist, was du isst, und ihr wisst, was es ist" ("Because you are what you eat, and you (pl.) know what it is")....

Such a happy song 🤣
Haha, I've seen them live 3 times now including "Mein Teil". They are insane! And the best thing is that the live sound is amazing! Loud af but crystal clear - very important for me as an musician. Whenever you have the chance to see them live, do it! Greetings from Germany! :)
Who understands German language can notice the subtle change in the lyrics. For the most part of the song Till sings "Das ist Mein Teil" wich is translated as "That is my piece". But after he pulls out the flamethrower, he changes it to "Das war Mein Teil" wich means "That was my piece"
@IvoryInDaHouse
Жыл бұрын
"Mein Teil"=my dick [being cut off consentually), "weiche Teile und auch harte"=soft parts [genitals] and also hard ones
I'm so gratefull to have seen these guys 5 times now :D Nothing compares to it at all. Every song has some kind of gimmick, and they always give it 120%
Yeah, Till's pretty hot. He has serious stage freight so he throws himself in characters and doesn't make eye contact with the audience. Offstage he is a very soft -spoken, polite man. He used to be an Olympic swimmer.

Hes also a pyrotechnician, which is how hes able to get away with a lot more, im sure they practiced it many times, so that the keyboardist comfortable and om sure there has to be a level of trust here, since flamethrowers are so dangerous.
@Hadmin

I'm one of the few he has made "eye contact" with then. The eye laser mask they used back in the day for Spiel Mit Mir blinded me for about 2 seconds back in 2001 on the mutter tour. I forgot which song they used it in though, since they didn't play Spiel mit mir any more at that point as far as I recall, it was 20 damn years ago, but I do remember the laser in the eye. I also got showered by the dildo in Buck Dich. Seen them three times now and still pissed they haven't played Tier live!

Well done! I know Rammstein since the beginning, saw them since 1996 several times live. They are the best. The live performance is awesome, the music videos are epic ("Deutschland", "Mein Herz brennt"...). They provoke and polarize with some real life stories or issues, where nobody wants to talk about it. And yes: a live show should be on your bucket list :-)
Oh man, this is definitely my favorite Rammstein song, it's been my favorite since the first time I saw the M/V. It matches so well with the vibe of the song and the lyrics. This is one of my favorite performances as well, and I agree, they really do put on a show, which is why I love Rammstein and Babymetal so much. They do not just go and play some songs. They have a performance. They put on a show. It's just so entertaining to watch. Great reaction guys! Hope you get to see them live someday.

Rammstein is the best live concert ive ever been too, I saw them in summer 2 years ago i think and was only 3 rows from the pit and yes it gets insanely hot during the show
Basic lyrics are ' My part', 'No'. It is about a real life case of a guy in Germany (who goes by the nicknames Rotenburg Cannibal, Der Metzgermeister (The Master Butcher). He advertised in a classified ad for someone to kill and eat, and he got a willing participant... you probably don't want to read the details of the case.
If you want to know how Rammstein is pronounced, then reacts Rammstein - "Rammlied" or "Rammstein" 😉 Mein Teil is based on a true criminal case in Germany. The Canibal of Rothenburg.

I watched them do this in a medium sized venue while performing to less than 5000 people. Right now they have no problem filling a stadium with 100,000 people so I doubt I will ever get to experience them at such a small scale again. Treasured memories although I can relive a little bit of it. There are a few songs from that night on the Volkerball DVD.

So, Flaky gets bored just standing around and playing piano to the point, he once ran over Til and nearly broke his leg with a Segway with a mounted piano on it. So, he has to be doing something on stage. And Til strangely has serious stage fright and has to be in character to have fun.
