For me, as someone who's 16 and still realistically has them, it feels like a calming conversation with an older cousin (or maybe even brother) telling you about cars and telling the story of their own life to get you ready for when you're grown too and have to get your own car and actually work to live.

Fellow car and Toyota guy here! I have a 1986 Hilux/Pickup Xtra Cab 4x4 that I owned since 2015. It was my daily driver until 2018 - nowadays I use it exclusively for off-roading. It has less than 100 hp and is not fun to drive on the highway but it is an absolute tank, and with front and rear lockers it never gets stuck no matter where I take it off-road. The truck has 313k miles on it, and 13k of those miles were from me. The engine had a crack in one cylinder when I got the truck, and until we had the engine rebuilt it ran those 13k+ miles completely unfazed. My current daily driver is a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon, which is way more fun on the road. Both my truck and WRX have a 5-speed manual, because I love driving stick too.

I Had that same issue that you had with your jeep, with a vehicle I had. I took my vehicle to five different mechanics, three different family members, was even considering a different vehicle. One day this person I use to know said put a paper clip into the obd reader in a certain way. Watch for blinks in the dash lights and it only would flash one time. He said oh that’s the distribution coil, changed out the distributor and it completely stoped the problem. Drove that vehicle for another 7 years before selling it. Was a 1992 5speed Honda civic. loving cars is just a way of life. My favorite car Iv ever owned is my 2005 crown Vic police inspector. Hands down my favorite car Iv ever owned. Good power, comfortable ride, and above all reliable. Great video! Keep up the good work!

I'm 200000% right there with you! My Baby Blu (aqua blue metallic) '98 Chevy Cavalier is a 2.2L 5 spd manual. I damn near refuse to drive automatics unless I have to, my very first car was a fully loaded purple 2001 PT Cruiser that I learned how to drive manual on (damn that was already half my life ago -- I'm 32 -- my Mom's best friend left it to me in her will... unfortunately I had to give that car up), my 2nd car was a 2008 metallic red Kia Spectra that unfortunately was totaled by a drunk driver... but with that money I bought this car and have had it since 2010. 300k miles later (when I bought it for $2,000 it had a pinch over 80k), and I rebuilt everything mechanically. New tranny, new clutch, new A/C system (dumb story regarding that that had nothing to do with me) and redid the engine's headgasket 2 years ago. The engine itself is still original. Other than the fact the paintjob on the front bumper is UV worn down from sunlight and needs a bit of love, mechanically everything is new and perfect. I do consider it my baby and my project car all at once, always reliable. As my unfortunately recently passed away Uncle taught me... just take care of the mechanics. Oil changes, fresh good gas, tores and brakes. Check your fluids, make sure the tranny fluid is good as well, and listen/learn your car sounds and feelings/vibrations. It'll treat you right. I'm only about halfway thru the vid but just wanted to share that. Too bad YT doesn't allow pic posting, I'd share a few I have.

Man, I delivered pizzas as a second job, numerous times in my younger years. Even owned my own pizza place and had to deliver when short handed. I'd love to share stories with ya. I've got some doozies! Lol. I get the attachment to a vehicle. Especially if it's been good to you. Drive it until it won't go. Had several. The last was a 2000 Dodge Ram. 327,000 miles on it when it went to the junkyard. Still ran and drove but, the rust issues made it unsafe. Yeah, I had to replace a few things and regular maintenance. Only once did it surprise me and not start. Took less then 10 minutes to determine the coil was bad. Walked 1/2 a block to the parts store. Drove it home. Lol. Just wouldn't quit. Broke my heart. Had it 15 years. Loved that truck. My brother buys cheap beaters to drive to work. For good reason. It's 15 miles of back roads at early hours. Lots of deer. The best one he ever had was an old Toyota Corolla. He hit 5 deer with it. They'd slam into the hood and roll over the car. He'd pound the hood out with a sledge hammer and carry on. None have compared to it. We still laugh about it.

I've had 4 cars since 2009, which is when I got my first car. First I had a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (Beat the shit outta it and regret it), then a 2001 Chrysler Sebring in 2013. Had that until about 2017, then got my 2013 Fiat 500. Paid way more than what it was worth because I had terrible credit. I'm a big guy, over 300 pounds, 5 foot 11. I loved my little Fiat, even though everyone laughed at me when they saw what I drove. Was comfortable, rode well, great on gas. Got it when I was first seeing my current girlfriend. Used to drive an hour and 15 mins (about 70 miles), one way, for about a year and a half pretty much every other day to go see her, then finally moved to her area, and continued working at my old work, so I'd continue driving that hour and 15 mins for quite a while. Ended up trading it in for a 2016 Chevy Cruze back in 2020 because I thought I wanted a better car. I regret it. I miss that little blue Fiat. So I might not have had an old car, but I had my own little unique car that I loved. My next car will probably be a 500X, which is the SUV version of a Fiat. I will swear, up and down, forever, that Fiats are great vehicles if you want something really simple, great on gas, comfortable, and small.

The 90s escorts were so underrated in their time for dependability. I had a '98 - I got it in 2002 (I was 16, first car, etc..) So needless to say I put that poor car through hell. We took it to construction sites, offroading, the works - we were dumb kids. In the 7 or 8 years I had it - I put 150k miles on it, and only changed the oil once - when the oil filter fell off one day 😂. Yeah it was a crappy-ish little car, slow, rattled, etc... but super cheap to fix and it just kept going, don't think in that time it ever left me stranded once - Until it finally blew a rod... and I still drove it home only getting it up to like 35 with the engine sounding like a farm tractor 😂. I had it well into my mid-20s, I'd run into friends from high-school well after we graduated college and they'd see it and it was a trip down memory lane, they couldn't believe I still had it.

I had a 99 corolla. Last year (actually new years ever this year,) a big tree limb fell on it and smashed in the roof. That was sad. The car had 240,000 miles if I remember correctly. I quite like the 8th gen corolla, I have heard multiple people refer to them as the worst generation of Corolla, but I disagree. I still see them on the road on a daily basis despite them all being over 20 years old now. Mine ran and drove great and never gave me any issues, including not burning oil which was supposedly a big issue with the early 1ZZ engines. The guy I sold it to bent the roof back out and got a window in it and as far as I know that car is still on the road somewhere. I would fix it up, even if it isn't "worth it" as many people would say, I hate to see another one of these end up in the junkyard. No company will ever again make a good car, so we need to keep the existing ones on the road. If we don't all that will be left is the garbage they make these days.

Which was also basically impossible to find btw, the dealership we ordered it from didnt even know they had that option, and they discontinued standard trannys for that suv right after we ordered ours. However... 5 years ago id have said give me standard transmissions for life. Well time ages you lol, and my current job has me all over the city all day just shifting that little ranger the entire time. And as you get older, it also gets old 😂.

My car did the same thing with it not starting until like 15 min passed , for me it was the map sensor , once I replaced it , never had a problem again , glad I wasn’t the only one , thought it was just my luck, love the videos !!!

Funny story I learned to drive in a lifter wrangler it was my first car 2000 with a 2.5 5 spd and I got my first speeding ticket in it, it had 33 inch tires on 15s, 3 inch lift quarter inch steel front and back bumpers, hard top full doors and at the time the exhaust was apart at the flange because one of the bolts broke off and the other one I guess was loose, cop said I was doing 80 in a 55 and the fasted I ever got that thing was 60 mph😂

my dad used to have a van that if you had the radio on and used your left blinker to make a left turn it would turn the radio off. If you made the turn without the blinker the radio would stay on.

Tylertube the jeep issue was called vapor lock, the injectors would be so hot it would vaporize the fuel in the injectors after engine at temp. In order to fix you need to shield the injectors from the exhaust

Corolla gang. My first car was a year or two newer corolla and i agree with everything you said. I will only buy toyota or Honda now. I got rear ended twice in that car, once i got lifted onto the hood and the other car was totalled. The corolla was somehow 100% fine. Only issue i ever had was the starter would stick every few months so i had a wrench i would use to smack it a few times. It never left me stranded once. Good memories

I also had one, and the joke was it had enough miles on it to go to the moon and back. It still was running when I sold it and still see it on the road. I paid $100 dollars for it.

Sounds like you didn’t have the correct set up for your amp. You’re meant to put a capacitor in line a one farad is normally a good start as it stops the sudden grab of power from the main battery. It’s also what possibly killed your alternator as alternators can’t adjust that quickly for sudden bursts of power needed.

Very good. Can relate, cheese on toast delivery. Building sub boxes. Repair bills being equal to income. Exhaust fireing chunks of soot out from petrol engine. 1l engine I got it down to 12mpg . Then the amazing keep goingness of japanise engines , yes replacement handles are made for the worst recycled plastic available . Thankfully if not hit any venison , tho I did hit a person . Loads of punctures ,got real good at plugging them quick. At night in the rain to the point where you get back "sorry I had a ,, they just look confused.. Real satisfying are the cars where you can change gear so smoothly and nobody notices.

And door numbers ,they really are not expensive, hell they can be made out of old paint or just some sharpie on a piece of paper. Or the motion sensor that only lights up the number and blinds you as you trip up the step.

I have my mailbox post across from my driveway numbered, a post at the end of my driveway with a number plate, and large numbers above my garage you can see from the road. I STILL get the "I can't find your house" call because my neighborhood isn't a cookie cutter sub division. I just think to myself I'm lucky you're delivering my chicken wings and not a paramedic coming to save me from a heart attack.

A standard Toyota. Man you had the best of both worlds. Most reliable type of trans and one of the most reliable makes. Scotty doesn't lie. Honda & Toyota is the way to go. I had a brand new Chevy in 2016 and it was complete garbage. My wife's 2008 Honda Crv with over 100k miles ran laps around that piece of crap. It was already having problems at 35k. Junk junk junk.

Hell yeah that's awesome I own a 1993 jeep Wrangler with the good old 4.0L inline 6 and a 5 speed manual to this day it's got a 4 inch lift and 35 inch mud tires I love the thing well except the bad gas mileage as you mentioned but that's cool you had one during your life! Sad to hear it had that issue sounds like a bad crankshaft position sensor to me there very common to go bad on those well at least the 6 cylinder ones but it also could of been a bad ECU as well and I totally agree with you I to this day will take a manual over a automatic any day of the week. Thanks for the story about your car I liked it a lot and agree I form "relationship" with the cars I own as well
