RAMADAN in MOROCCO!! | IFTAR with the locals in MARRAKESH & IMLIL (AMAZIGH PEOPLE)!!
I’m in Morocco during the month of Ramadan; the holiest month for Muslims around the world. I’ll be joining the locals in Marrakech and the Berber village of Imlil for the traditional breaking of fast, Iftar meal.
Many visitors aren’t sure whether Ramadan is a good time to visit Morocco but I’d really encourage you to do so because it’s such a unique holiday to witness! Lots of establishments serve food during the day because they know tourists aren’t fasting, and hotels serve alcohol and food. It’s just extra special during Ramadan because you get to experience Moroccan culture and its many traditions.
A huge thank you to Yaya for showing me some of the food spots in Marrakesh and inviting me into his family home for a home cooked Iftar, it was truly wonderful:

Also thank you to Lahcen who arranged the beautiful experience joining an Amazigh family for Iftar and an amazing hike around the village of Imlil. He runs the most amazing lodge too:

After read history of الشيخ أبو الحسن الشاذلي, and then watching this video, i just realized that Morocco is beautiful country.
20:27 reminded me of my childhood. That cute kid sitting the the lap of old man while others do Iftar. This village - Imlil - looks just like any village in Kashmir. Even people look like Kashmiris. Malini, thank you for this wonderful portrayal of Ramadan, Muslim culture and hospitality.
I love the Muslim culture. It’s beautiful and communal oriented. So much love unlike some other cultures where individualism takes shape and everyone cares about themselves.

I love Arabic food too, because of the spices and herbs used. Cultures are something magic, every culture is unique according to territories, traditions. Thank you. The most touching part was the Berber village with the mountain view for me. Heavenly experience with this humble family. I am so in awe of it. You are so lucky Angelica going around the world for cultural exploration, and the outcomes of the documentaries are extraordinary, and something to be proud off.
