The world was so alright back then. Plastic cups recycling on the ground, spectators on trees and literally everywhere, and Peugeot was producing cars.. Bring the 80-90s back.. Thanks for documentary, shame I dont understand italian.

This footage is impeccable. This video is like a time machine. I'm born in 84 in Portugal, became of fan of rally naturally through the stuff that was being shown on local TV back in the day. I was over 14 at the time, and learned a little bit about Group B. Fun fact, lots of the crazy stuff around not being safe comes from footage around the time where the fans hogged the sides of the road and made it obviously not safe.

This is absolutely the best video for group B, what I have ever seen. All the best cars and spirit of special stages and services between of it. Just vans and many mecanics. 💪

Almost 40 years have passed, and you still can't find so many good cars and drivers in any rally in the world like we had in Monte Carlo 86. Henri Toivonen will always be the great rally hero 🙏

I think that besides 1000 Lakes '85 and RAC '85, this was the peak Group B event. You had all the best cars in there, and pretty much all of the top drivers as well.

A golden era indeed, I watched these cars flying past us in Keilder, hamsterley forest with brake discs glowing bright red, big flames coming from the exhausts, as a young lad these cars are still etched into my memory to this day. Beautiful cars, fantastic drivers. Absolutely wonderful

Some wonderful never seen footage, from the service parks even and especially from that Citroën one. Can't thank you enough from this!

C'était une autre époque avec des voitures surpuissantes qui pouvaient atteindre les 500 cv voir les 600 cv et les spectateurs qui pouvaient approcher pour admirer les pilotes et les voitures flirtait en repoussant les limites de leur capacités et hélas certains sont morts pour leurs passions nous les oublirons jamais. RIP Henry Toivonen et Sergio Cresto .

Thanks a lot for posting this incredible video. You feel the ambiance, the smoke, the noise, everything. I was very fortunate to assist this 1986 Monte Carlo rallye as a spectator. I recognize the Burzet stage : it was a walk of nearly 2 hours on foot in the mountain to reach the road and there was an incredible amount of fans & spectators , totally crazy at that time. But it was so gooooood :)

C'était une sacrée époque où les spectateurs pouvaient voir les pilotes d'usine... l'essence même du rallye. Ça fait quelque chose de voir Henry Toivonen et Sergio Cresto à côté de leur voiture à l'assistance. J'ai eu la chance de voir ce rallye cette année-là à 14 ans, c'était incroyable 😍

What an amazing document, the last hurrah of the Group B "monsters" sadly this race was the last win for Toivonen, before the fatal accident at the Tour de Corse a few races later. Race in Peace Henri Toivonen. In the video at the Peugeot assistance a mechanic gets inside the car with a lit cigarette while someone is filling the tank with fuel. Ironically, the former president of FIA Jean Todt who made of road safety one of his main priorities during his time, was the team principal of that Peugeot team. LOL

5:15 Holy cow, this looks like the motorised version of the 1975 Philadelphia Flyers starting line. You know, with these modern sanitised hyper-cars, they might have superior tech in there but they will never ever look and sound as mean and raw as these beasts.

Awesome footage, and a lot I hadn't seen before! Also nice to see the drivers with higher numbers that we don't often see. Sadly it's cut up as shuffle, I'd like to see a chronological version with maybe stage numbers and result listings in the middle.

Magnificent - this must be PEAK Rallying! Including the obvious Group B Monsters but also such rarities as Citroen BX 4x4, and Visa Mille Pistes (nearly spearing off into the crowd!), renault 9 a Lancia Thema? and a spectacularly driven FIat Uno Turbo ie - who was driving that so well in the snow? Great to see so many of the lower numbers too - Talbot Samba, Lancia Y10 all rally prepped. And all alongside older Group B Manta, Porsche etc.

A few million Euros worth of iconic Group machinery in that Parc Ferme.

It’s actually crazy. These people are driving cars with the same if not more power than a modern WRC car. Way less weight by almost 1000 pounds. And a roll cage composed of what I can only describe as plastic bottles. I have a hard time taking the Quattro E2 through a dirt 2 stage without shutting myself let alone irl
