If Marathas won 3rd battle of Panipat, India would have been Hindu rashtra. Defeat of Marathas, helped British colonial rulers indirectly. Sikhs and Rajput kings did not trust Marathas. After 3rd battle of Panipat, Afghans were no longer in a position to rule Punjab as they did not want conflict with Marathas, who wanted to avenge their defeat in 3rd battle of Panipat. Mughal Empire was now reduced to gates of Red fort and shah jehanabad. So this led to rise of Sikhs in Punjab. But it was Marathas who expelled Muslim kings out of Punjab and Sindh. It was Marathas who expelled Afghans from Punjab and Arabs from Sindh regions. Mughals along with Afghans ruled over Punjab for a thousand years. Arabs ruled over Sindh. Both were defeated by Marathas. It was Marathas who conquered Northern India upto Peshawar in Pakistan and Puri in Orissa. They controlled whole of central India and had defeated the Rajput, and used to recover chauth and sardeshmukhi from them. Maratha conquest of Punjab brought them in direct conflict with Ahmed Shah Abdali, founder of Afghanistan. Ahmed Shah Abdali carried genocides in Punjab in collusion with Mughal emperor Farrukhsiyar. It was saiyyads, with support from 10,000 Maratha soldiers, deposed Mughal emperor Farrukhsiyar. Another attempts to white wash atrocities committed against Hindus during Muslim rule of India. Ironical. All the battles of Panipat were between Indian inhabitants and Invaders. Well technically Akbar was not invader because Babar was the first ruler of the Mughal empire but he fought against a Hindu king Hemu. But all the 3 battles original Indians lost in Panipat. Panipat certainly had some significance that all battles were fought there and Indians never learnt fighting 3 battles at the same place even after losing the previous ones.

There were 53 major famines in India during Mughal era. There were mass destruction of temples and forced conversions at that time. Although the Delhi Sultanate was worser for India than Mughals.

Mass conversion happened when Buddhists were converted by arya shak and Huns descendants. Their religion actually established in Mughals era. All their books were written then.

Lol...Marathas destroyed afghans in Delhi, Lahore and Attock in 1758. Marathas lost in Panipat because of their own fault. Sikhs kicked the ass of Abdali in 1764 and 1767. Marathas defeated Mahmud Shah in 1782 in Lahore. After that, Sikhs wiped out Afghans from Peshawar and now they are restricted to the west of Durrand line.
