So I take it that it would have been welcome for other winners such as B. Sircar (Bengali), Nagi Raddy (Telugu),Shantaram (like Phalke spoke Marathi), Prasad (Tamil), Bhupen Hazarika (Assamese), Adoor Goaplkrishnan (Malayalam), VK Murti (Kannada) - all had spoken in their native languages. I once met russians in VA, USA and there I got to know about his popularity and affection people had for Him. They told me there were so many theaters which ran his movies till late 90s. Raj sahab had the charisma that no one ever had. He will always stay in peoples heart 👍 Respect 💐💐

Raj Kapoor Ji aap itne famous hone K baad bhi kitne simple hain. Koi proud nahi. Aapki language par command superb h.

Probably it is the legends last interview, a day later in evening, while he was receiving the dadasaheb phalke award he lost his consciousness and had to admit in hospital, where he passed away leaving behind the great legacy to follow

Correct. In this interview he says that tomorrow he has to attend the function to receive a Dadasaheb Phalke award. And in that function he suddenly became so serious due asthama that he couldn't go on the stage to receive it. Therefore keeping prtocols aside the President of India Hon. Mr. V. V. Giri came down at his seat and gave him award. I saw this live moment on Doordarshan at that time.

Thats just how it was at the time. Urdu was as commonplace as hindi. The way we speak english mixed with hindi now, was exactly the way we spoke hindi+urdu then. Lots of people were also fluent in farsi.
