And this is also my first time raising a litter by myself and my first ever video too, so please take it easy on me in the comment.

    Bet your busy! We have five small puppies going into their forth week. It takes several hours a day to play with them, clean up after them and provide a place where they can walk around. They turned their basket over tonight and got out themselves for the first time tonight. Mom is starting to wean, so they are hungry! I am going to pick up formula tomorrow, and a baby bottle. I have been reluctant to supplement with formula because I’m afraid mom will stop feeding altogether. Thanks for showing us your precious little ones!

    It's such a fantastic experience isn't it ☺️ Yes I was quite the same, reluctant to feed them formula for the same reason. Your puppies will always chase mumma bear for milk making it quite hard to dry her up completely. It's almost too much at times so i can see where mum is coming from 😅 How are you puppies taking to the new formula ? Sounds like you are doing a brilliant job ☺️

    I adopted a stray puppy of unknown age in a high risk situation on which she absolutely couldn't stay with her mother any longer. I kinda estimate her age at the rescue beein 30-42. She is absolutely the sweetest girl and is named Harusame since we are in march and it was raining when we got there to take her home. It has been quite hard the first week, first I would make homemade petmilk, than mix that with dryfood to make it soggy, then watter soggy food now. I will keep the soggy food for at least 15 days just to ensure she got the 2 months mark before she can get any solid food. I'm planning on getting her to bathe as soon as she reaches the 2 month mark. The first day she mostly didn't eat, sleept a lot and was very quiet. Second day she got some milk and was much better. Third day milk again, but some milk-soggy food and then she was very very better and playful. Fourth milk again. Fifth milk and milk soggy food + deworming. Day six and seven we got filtered watter soggy food.

    I breed boxers. During the first 10-12 days I weigh them twice a day, and once a day after that. I graph their progress and compare their growth against previous litters and study data. If any of them are lagging I first try to make sure they get enough time on Holly's nipples. She only has 9, and not all provide as much milk. When you have 10-11 puppies it's important to watch out for the runts and bottle feed them with lambs milk if needed. Between 3-4 weeks I start introducing them to "mush" which starts out mostly lambs milk (powder, mixed with water) and Beneful puppy chow. As they get older and rougher with nursing, Holly starts trying to avoid them. I slowly allow her more and more time away from them until around 5 weeks when they will be fully weaned. The mush is an art form...you have to keep tweaking the formula to keep them eating it and gaining weight. The end goal is to be on 100% dry food so there will be no issues when they get to their furever homes. I always include a bag of the puppy chow which they will eat for their first year. Their new family may change the brand, but I know that they will not need a special diet by the time they leave (breaking my heart, of course).

    When they are born, I make sure Holly breaks the sac...you have less than a minute to do it yourself if she doesn't. I also grab the cord close to the puppies belly and hold it between my thumb and forefinger while she bites (cuts) the cord so that she will not tear their skin when she does. The first litter I was an absolute nervous wreck! The second litter is so much easier. Do not let her breed on her next heat (Holly is in heat right now driving Ziggy (the sire) and two of their sons from her first litter Copper and Scotty crazy). Raising them for 8 weeks is a ton of work, especially after starting mush. As you now know, the amount of poop is unbelievable! And bath time...they need a bath after their bath because as soon as you turn around they are peeing and pooping and on and on it goes! I give them their first round of shots at 6 weeks, start deworming them and then shots again at 8 weeks before they go. No outside, no other dogs or people around them until they've had their first shots.

  • @jessieparaone

    Hello there! Feeding them raw meat is great with puppy food. You can assure that they are getting everything they need. The reason I say this is because puppy food may have a course of meat in it but the quality is low for example it is chicken meal instead of actual chicken.

    Hi, first of all this video was very helpful. My maltipoo dog is due in 3 weeks. I have noticed that she has fleas. Is it okay to use a flea collar on a pregnant dog and once the puppies are here? Did you use anything to prevent fleas or keep them away? Also, should the mom be around the pups all day and night? Thank you.

  • @jessieparaone

    @jessieparaone

    Hey there. Okay there are particular flea treatments you can use with mum that are safe. I've done a little research and Frontline Spot On is apparently okay to use on pregnant cats and dogs. But I am not sure about dog collars. And Mum should be around them almost all day and nurse them all night in the first two weeks. She will want more and more freedom in which can become difficult because the puppies will follow her everywhere! I hope this helps 😁

Iv tried everything and she wakes me up every hour or so to go poo.. how can I help her I also noticed a little blood in her stool is this just from pushing so hard or maybe from having diarrhea so long it's been like 6 days on an off? oh yes try keep her with them as much as possible, whether thats in the same closed space until theyre feed or atleast monitored feeding. You dont want her milk drying up all together. Though pups will keep trying to feed off her until they have new owners whether she has milk or not :) She obviously wants and is enjoying her freedom, mine did the same. But if that does happen , dont worry! Puppies are very clever! The animal formula in my video can be used as early as birth and you wont need 50 bottles for feeding, just an easily accessible dish. Expect it to take 2-3 days for them to adjust and recognise this process. I tried bottle feeding and my puppies did not latch on at all ! But try with one bottle just incase your pups do. I hope this helps you ! Wishing you all the best !

    Sorry if I overloaded your comments! And being a "Mom" to a litter of puppies is just like being a Mom to your own children. There's lots of ways they can be raised. I have the constant advise from the breeder who sold me Holly, and she finds homes for her puppies. She is always a text or call away if I need help. There's plenty of information on the internet as well. It looks to me like you did a lot of research and the end result looks like healthy puppies. Love seeing 11 puppies around the food bowl. Holly's 2nd litter was 11, so I know what that is like.

    Ive heard of foreign objects getting stuck is quite a high risk but personally my dogs have been able to take on everything thus far. Of course as puppies, bones and teeth are high risk for digestive problems. There is only one way to deal with this and it's to get to your vet asap.

    what is the average interval when puppies poop and urinate? I will adopt a 3-4 week old puppy.

  • @jessieparaone

    @jessieparaone

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello ☺️ usually the puppies are licked at the stomach every hour or two to bring on urination. And pooping 1-2 times a day. You can achieve this yourself by running their tummy under warm water and rubbing their genital area. But around 3-4 weeks they won't need much help with this. After feeding your puppy it will take your puppy about half an hour to digestive/urinate. And especially after waking up! They tend to wee straight away. I hope I have helped answer your question.

    Hey there, Great question! The best thing you can do since you aren't going to be home is to prepare your home. Make sure there are no hazards, tight gaps, dangerous object etc. Buy her a rug that's comfortable and doesn't move, pups will get stuck underneath blankets. Always have water and food for Mum, maybe put her bowls on a stable stand incase pups get into them. Now if she is going to be outside she will look for cool and comfortable places to give birth like corners, under trees, under the house ( think about if she's ever gotten sick, where did she go, it's most likely to be where she chooses to give birth ). Prepare these areas safely. Mum will do the rest! 1-2 weeks She will be with them constantly for the licking them clean and feeding them. 3-4 Mum will want more and more freedom so keep puppies in the safest spot in the house like the laundry. Access for Mum. 4-5 weeks Puppies will be on the move !!! This is where someone will need to be around so if you can ask some favour at least once a day to check midday. But if not just stick to the above 😊 Besides the obvious cleaning duties. I hope this helps and don't forget nature will always take its course. YOUVE GOT THIS !!

    Hello. Okay first thing I want you to observe is if he's poos are consistent ( once a day ) and urine is healthy ( not overly yellow ) then you'll know if he isn't getting enough formula and water. He may need a tummy massage to help him process. Second how long have you been feeding him formula, it took my pups three days to fully grasp the action and then they were fighting for it. And don't be scared to try little portions of solid foods, just to see how his body reacts. Just make sure you cover his worming tablets and everything should go quite smoothly. I hope this helps 😊

    @@duaadahho1108 Hey there and Welcome to Australia ! 🥳 Worming begins at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks Then once a month until 6months. And finally every 3 months. I know what your thinking! THATS ALOT ! But don't stress. You are the best person to decide if and when you would like to begin. I first wormed my puppies according to when they first started to explore 😊 which was between 3- 4 weeks and then when it was necessary. Depending on their environment worms can be very common and spread from contaminated water, grass, other animals, bugs and rats. Symptoms of worms are • Swollen or bloating at stomach • Vomiting • Diarrhoea • Little White rings worms in feases Now once they receive a treatment if they do get them, they will be completely treated and the worms will passed through theyre poos. I hope I've covered your concerns ☺️ Now vaccinations are a completely different process. I'm not too familiar with what each vaccination is but they begin at 6 weeks old. One that I would absolutely cover is called " Parvo " this is a very common killer in Australia dog's.

    How did you do potty training

  • @jessieparaone

    @jessieparaone

    3 жыл бұрын

    Sorry I'm late on replying, I didn't see you there. Successful potty training was something that came much later with individual pups. Honestly 11 puppies toilet training was a mess but what I did learn was timing is key. Once they're up and on the go ( say you just woke them ) its at that moment ( literally ) is when they gotta go toilet. Take them outside asap. Repeat at this time very simple words such as '' outside '' they will catch on to what that means. And when they pee repeat the word ''toilet '' This may seem useless in the beginning but they will understand this early and when they can control it, it will be in-bedded in them to just know. And if they do have accidents don't punish them, just use simple words again for something thing they should not do like '' don't '' and take them outside even if they have already gone, again repeating the words ''outside'' on the way out. Punishing them or hitting them may cause traumatic uncontrolled peeing. Key tips consistency, patients and love!!

    It is possible. But the only reason I would consider doing it would be if the mother is non existent or passed. Pups need all nutrients and growth hormones from mums milk up until they're 6-8 weeks. But it is not impossible, formulas and extra care will have to be put into place for example rubbing of the belly to help with urination and faeces to be released. These are actions that they're mother takes. I hope this helps, thanks for your question!
