one tip ya'll: if you have Hereford cows, breed them to an Angus bull. then you will have black, white face calves and they bring more money than a Hereford calf because all the restaurants want Angus meat, even if it's only PART Angus.

I started out with two Holstein bull calves and am now up to 30. I love it. I have added chickens, turkeys, lambs, and pigs. It took me a while to figure out your left handed hand shakes. It would appear your right is bandaged.

I was raised on a dairy farm. All of our cows were tame. Us kids ran in and out ot the herd in the pasture all the time. We pet them in the barn. We would call Come Boss and they would come to the barn. My dad would raise one steer a year for our consumption.

Our cow goes crazy whenever we bring her treats (she has food all the time) to the point when she finishes her treats she wants more so she head buts us to the point we have bruises.also when we pick fruits from our yard (she thinks the fruits are for her) so she buts us even if we dont give her treats at that moment. Any advice?

The only thing which has stopped us from getting a few cows, was finding a breed docile enough for a beginner. We've raised goats, alpacas, sheep, but they're easy for me to handle. This mix sounds like a good possibility for us........ but I think I'll watch how you guys do with them first. lol

BigC954 Check your county Ag CO OP. Depends on quality of range and if you intend to supplement with hay or range feed. I generally assume 5 acres per cow to not overgraze.

Tim, Just ran across your channel while doing a search for how to raise cattle. Which leads me to my suggestion... would you create a playlist(s) of your videos by topic? Specifically, a playlist on the subject of raising cattle, butchering & processing? Maybe another one on beekeeping? With so many great videos to look through, it's time consuming to search and in my particular case, distracting. I've spent the last three hours watching episodes on Cows 101, making bologna, "swallered teeth", math jokes, train whistles and I'm just not getting back on track with the second cow video. I'm not sure it's the second in the series, but, it's about cows... :-)
