    Thank you so much for this video. You couldn't have timed it better. Our doe had a single kit earlier today. The second was stuck/dead and the third one was also dead. We have another first time mom with so many kits she can barely handle them all. I didn't know it was so easy to let them foster. Now all the buns have siblings and no mom is overwhelmed.

    My experience with raising rabbits so far has been rough. I have two does and one had 3 kits on her first litter, they all died in 3 days. She had 8 on her second and one died at 2 weeks for seemingly no reason. Her other 7 are 7 weeks now. My other doe only had 2 kits. One died after 3 days and then her one was very well fed. Almost too well fed. It died on day 8. Burying babies is hard. On top of all that, in an 8 weeks span, a raccoon had killed both of my bucks. I now have a momma with dead babies and no bucks to rebreed. Just been really tragic for us.

    Good Morning Bobby. I enjoy your videos they are packed with good tips and information on helping us with our Rabbitry. On weaning kits I may not fully understand when is the best time to separate Kits from the Doe. We raise New Zealand Rabbits and I always wait until I see the kits eating pellets and hay and drinking water which with our rabbits is around 4 to 5 week old. We have done this with all of our kits which is 6 litters and we have 3 Does due to kindle tomorrow April 24 2023. So far all of our kits have been beautiful, healthy and strong. The question is am I separating them too early? Thank You in advance for your response. Have A Blessed Day. Thank You Jerry McKelvey

    Mammals get oxytocin from eating the placenta. Sometimes if you don't allow it to eat this, the mom won't feed her babies because oxytocin is critical to motivate her to want to mother her offspring.

    You two can try splitting up the chores so she can enjoy them on some level. She can still enjoy the breeders and the arrival of the adorable baby rabbits and you can be the one to process when they hit their grow out age. Try to be patient with her and slowly educate her about farming rabbits and why rabbits are truly here. It isn't to just be cute, it's to feed the wild and the world. That's why they're so prolific. This balances the ecosystem and prevents hunger. Sure, you can eat food in the stores that are filled with chemicals, but you don't have to. There's a healthier way. If you're willing to do the work you can grow your own food. I'd explain (when she asks why) Rabbits are easy to raise and Rabbit meat is very nutritious. But they're cute and that's the biggest hurdle. it took a few years for my wife to come to terms with it. Best of luck convincing her because it's good to have a helper. • @TheRabbitryCenter

    @TheRabbitryCenter

    4 ай бұрын

    you can simply adjust the height of the water nipple -water bowls aren’t entirely necessary. We use the bowls because of freezing temps here in michigan. the nipples will freeze quickly unless your using heated bottles. As early as 2-3 weeks they should be hopping out of the nesting box and making their way over to the bowl or bottle to start drinking. sometimes we introduced a bottle when the temperatures are right so a big litter can have a bowl to drink and a little extra but when they’re drinking out of a bowl regularly they’re not used to the bottle so we’ll dab a little peanut butter on the tip of the nipple, they will investigate quickly and start drinking.

I didn’t provide a nest box because I didn’t know she was pregnant, so she had them in her liter box, I bought an extra litter box to use as a nest box .. and I’m wondering is it necessary to clean it/change material and if so how often? Also I noticed they weren’t as “hoppy” today they were moving but not popping like popcorn like the first few days, is that normal?

  • @TheRabbitryCenter

    @TheRabbitryCenter

    8 ай бұрын

    I'm sorry to hear that. It's hard to say. 6 weeks is young. They're still developing at that point. It's important to provide them a good amount of fiber (hay) daily and most importantly feed them the same diet they've been eating. And slowly transition them to your diet. If you purchase another try to pick up at two months or older. They should be a little stronger by then.

    Fast Grow Outs -best thing is quality feed & at least 16% protein. Supplement with a quarter cup of whole oats a couple times a weeks on top of pellet and hay and greens Weigh all your grow outs on processing day & you’ll see some litters are faster and better than others Be sure to continue your Rabbitry with these breeders. Cull the ones that are underperforming to improve your rabbitry. Best of luck!

    My 1st rabbitry has been a disaster. I had created a 6 feet undergrounds beautiful habitat to protect them from the Texas heat. All went well for 3 months. Then in one week they old but one died. They died deep inside their habitat. I tore it down and realized it stunk of ammonia. Most likely they poisoned themselves with their urine. I thought they would come out to pee, but it was not the case. They were staying deep inside most of the time. But of course we had a summer of hell with 114 degree days, and 55 days over 100 degrees. So they were coming out just to eat and drink and were spending a good 22 hours per day undergrounds. I will try again with a habitat just one to 2 feet undergrounds that I can have access to to clean up. Also I will give them access to an area where they can dig their own habitat under a pile of big rocks. Maybe this will work better. If that colony does not work, I am done trying to raise rabbits. I do not want to raise them in cages.

    Hi, your link for the kindling calendar doesn't work. I found it by googling and have it in my Google account, but it's read only. I would gladly pay for it, too, but there is nothing set up for that either. The file in my Google account has a copy image only as an option, no save file. Help please.

I luv the get these little nuggets of important information. Your the best Rabbitry on you tube Bobby Could you please do another video with an awesome song from you and your guitar? From Washington State on the northern, eastern corner on the Canadian border, a little red spot in the middle of the Colville National Forest

    Thanks for asking. Like a punch(not a pinch)of salt. More than a pinch but less than a handful. The amount of oats that’s in your fist when you put your hand into the oats and make a fist.
