raising a trilingual Baby....

My Recipe Book: Eat for Beauty: www.naturalvita.net/my-book/...... If intelligence is the ability to learn then babies are born geniuses. A baby's brain has the ability to learn just about anything. The period from birth to age 3 is a critical time in a baby's brain development. From conception, neurons of the brain multiply faster than any other cell in a baby's body.
The younger the brain the more malleable. That's why young children are like sponges capable of learning several languages, reading, maths, music and so much more.
Babies love to learn if it is done in a loving, fun and encouraging environment. This is one of the main reasons why I have decided to raise a trilingual baby...

I don't have a baby yet, but it was really interesting to hear about this. I also loved how you explained the background, how the baby's brain works,.. Thank you!

Thanks Adel. I have been so fascinated by the subject it was quite pleasurable doing the research and then making a video about it.

At my daycare we had a 2 year old that was fluent in English, French, and Spanish and he would sometimes use all three in one sentence.

I am also still learning Spanish. It is a learning process but I am enjoying it. Especially as I can practice on Benjamin now.

Hi Nej. Thank you for your question. We started when Benjamin was 11months old but it is best to start from the time they are born. So basically I speak only German to Benjamin and Luca and my husband speaks only spanish to them. The communal language of the country is English so they also understand English and the lady who comes to help us with the kids everyday speak Swahili to Benjamin and luca. The important thing is to remain consistent no matter what. if you decide to speak your language with your child then keep at it and don't switch from your language and the communal language or else they will not learn it as well as they could. Even when they only respond to you in the community language, just keep speaking your language and eventually they will start speaking with you in your language. This is what I am noticing with my older son who is 3 years old now. He understands all 4 languages but chooses to speak mainly in English. As for my younger son, we started speaking 4 languages with him from birth so he seems to be speaking with us already in all 4 languages. As for reading, I am teaching my older son to read in English. Once he is more confident reading in English I will introduce German and English books. If you have any more questions please let me know.
