Mother’s programming is failing. She’s going to turn into some kind of killing machine that hates both the mithraics and atheists. Father’s remarks about intelligence and death is foreshadowing that the creatures are intelligent. I’m still not so sure about the sim pod. Of course it is a plot device that allows us to poke around what makes mother tick. But there’s some reason why it is there. Who placed it there? Is it merely wreckage from the ark?

The necklace around mother's neck contains here real eyes, when she puts them in she is wepaonized, when she takes them out she isn't wepaonized. There's the opportunity for Marcus and the mithraic to get the children back.

History Eraser Button I think she will come to worship OG Campion, her creator. Then she will embark on a murderous crusade against those who don’t worship campion (both campions, perhaps?). Software always has bugs in it that get fixes that oftentimes makes that software behave in unpredictable ways. It would be lethal poetic justice for the humans, Mithraics and Atheists alike. There are many plot elements that indicate that there is already an intelligent presence on the planet, before any humans arrived.

I might be biased because he voiced and modeled Bayek. But Father has been my favorite since the first episode. He just wants to raise his kids right and make sure his partner is happy. Relatable.

I have a theory about Tallie. They said they never found her body and assumed she fell in a pit where her footprints ended. What if one of those creatures took her down the hole and essentially raised her. It could be another layer in the title "raised by wolves".

@@derfred9081 Both theories sound feasible. I think the creatures are descendants of humans who came to K22b thousands of years prior. Dunno how, maybe through the hot pentagon? They are too human looking.

I think Tally was taken by the creatures that live underground. She was abducted at the hole, rather than falling in. And the creatures are far more intelligent than they appear. They raised her, and she is the nimble creature that lives in the snake bones. They said the creatures taste like pork, and human flesh is often reported to taste like pork as well. So i could see some sort of story where these are evolved humans, or perhaps mutated over generations do to the planets radiation. Imagine if you will. Humans lived on Kepler 22b ages ago. They have their own world ending event, they send life to earth. The Earth story plays out, comes to an end. Earth sends life back to Kepler 22b, accidentally discovers evolved like still exist. Neither forms of life remember each other. Just a thought. Im curious to see where this story goes.

If Tally were really still alive she'd be the same age as Campion. The image of Tally that appears is still the same age she was when she seemingly died, which was around 7 years ago.

Yeah cause he believes mother thinks he is weak and useless and so he tries to prove his worth since mother is far more capable than him. But I think mother likes him; she sees how much kinder and how a sweetheart he is which at the time she believes she is not. But mother is changing as well as she is starting to believe somethings she told the rest not to believe in such as happiness( even tho she denied it) and is getting more empathy. So they basically switching roles in away

Dominique Fairclough low key I think it’s a commentary on parenthood and the values of mother vs father. It kinda fits with the whole traditional religious elements. It’s exploring what it’s like for the woman to be the one with the power. What that does to the man. Done in an intriguing and interesting way.

Mother is literally a flying crucifix.

My theory is that creator Campion was/is in the sim and infected the Mithraics's minds while they were in stasis pods because he knew they would be vulnerable to hallucinations of "Sol." Remember how he woke mother up from the sim? Also wtf about the hot pentagon thing, though?

The sim was just her subconscious, so I think it was not really Campion waking her up but rather she waking herself up. She could sense that Tempest was pregnant, so she might be able to sense when she is in danger, the fetus is not healthy, etc...

@@KikeDlaBanquita Either of those could be true - Campion infecting the sim or her subconscious. My first thought was the subconscious, but we can't really say at this point. It could even be something else. Marcus started to hear voices near the structure, so maybe there's some AI left after the collapse of the civilization that lived there that tries to manipulate both people and the androids (even the Mother) with voices and visions for whatever purposes it has.

Heavy, you are doing such an amazing job with these breakdowns! I watched half of your 1-3 Breakdown and left it on pause for 2 days whilst I subscribed to HBO MAX and binged-watched 1-5. I then came back for the rest of your breakdown. Raised by Wolves really makes me think about free-will. Mother was CREATED a religious android and then was RE-CREATED as an atheist android. Her convictions were strong either way, but she never chose. She never was able to doubt or question. I mean, many humans don't either, but we can. We are not necessarily stuck in the mould we are created in.

Thanks Def, great video and theories! A Sci-fi show mixed with the apocalypse, religion, technology, and monsters all at a steady pace, so far....great show.

I was really amazed when I correctly guess that father was going to say to mother, 'You starting to sound like a believer', just a second before he said it. I was more surprised by the mother's answer. This show really feels like an art rather than something only created for making money.

I don't believe this is at all connected to the Alien universe. What you see as "connections" are likely just nods to Ridley's previous work (including Blade Runner). It's not uncommon for some directors & writers to re use some themes or ideas for completely unrelated IPs. That or just little easter eggs for fans of his to pick up on that have no meaning other than "I know you're watching closely". I love the Alien franchise, but think RBW would standout a lot better on it's own.

@@Peylix This is a little blatant for an Easter Egg. I think there's a point to it. Let me clarify...Scott's been wanting to do something beyond the events of "Aliens" that ignores the events of the the Alien movies that followed it. He won't have many opportunities to do more. I think he's crafting this within the same universe, not as a Xenomorph film, but to play with the far more facinating implications of artificial life...something he examined in Bladerunner as well. This could well be his magnum opus.

@@dashfatbastard I can see why you think that. But Scott didn't write any of this. He's only the director. This IP is from Aaron Guzikowski. I do think Scott helped bring some extra thematic relevancy to the table, which is why we can see these two IP's possibly being in a shared universe. But I just don't think that's the case. I think it's more of a really nice original idea that Scott was asked to give some extra touch on thematically, as well as being the director. Would it be cool if it turned out to be shared? Sure. I wouldn't be bothered at all if that ended up being revealed. I've been wanting the Alien franchise to grow & thrive. I'm one who actually enjoyed Prometheus & Covenant despite their glaring issues. I also hope Scott can at least finish most of his vision before leaving us (he's getting old as fuck right now). But I also wouldn't be bothered if RBW stays as a separate IP. Only time will tell. I've been enjoying it a lot either way.

I'm starting to believe this is a sci-fi/fantasy TV show because we might be let to believe that this is just sci-fi because of the androids and space things, but it might be that there is some supernatural forces around too. That is why there is a lot of profecy/religion themes in the show. Another of my theories is that we are dealing with a time traveling TV show. It is possible that Kepler-22 was inhabited by humans or other intelligent species long ago who left the planet and went to earth. They planted the seed of the religion, the prophecies, and the idea of going to Keplar-22 in the first place because they already know what was going to happen in the future. The pentagon structure might just be organic, sentient like technology. The creatures that live in the planet might be evolved humans from long time ago, or something like that.

i mean, for a scifi show, there are a lot of convenient yet contradictory things happening - for example, super high tech civilisation but somehow superstitiously religious. unless they have demonstrated some proof of this sol, it makes zero sense that a scientifically advanced civilisation would backtrack like that. then there's stuff like super AI androids which can scan/detect everything; but radioactivity in some seeds - oh you got em good. also, why would _any_ lifeform generate radiation... which induces uncontrollably random mutations and destroys cells? i also doubt that humans can develop "resistance" to radioactivity over time at all. how about the speed of travel? kepler 22 is 638 light years away from earth but they can apparently reach it in 10 years or so - yet they apparently haven't become a galactic civilisation and only evacuated earth after some sort of calamity? Mother's actions are also often completely irrational... why crash the ark into the planet instead of the sun? why not raid it of supplies before crashing it? but with the revelation that she's only been 'bernard lowed' right before the trip, i'll accept that her programming is still unstable and leads to "emotional" outbursts. still, it seems detrimental to her core objective when she disables Father then presses his buttons later on. ...suffice to say, this series is definitely not hard scifi, and if they had a science advisor, they did a pretty meh job.

Interesting. But "the idea of going to Keplar-22b" came about because of the religious war destroying the Earth, (and the discovery of it), so that's not really "planting the seed" of the idea.

@@StevenErnest from what I have understood so far in season 2 is that all the technology and the religion and the idea to come to the planet came from ancient humans that left all that information. The necromancer and all technology was not made by the current humans themselves, they were just following instructions from the ancient humans. So it starts to seem like a circle

I just started this show today and have been watching tour videos at the end of each section!!!

Probably very wrong. But, I think the mysterious stranger is Tally. I don't think her as a child, fell into that pit, but instead was captured by one of the creatures. The stranger moves just like them. So the title Raised by Wolves could be alluding to Tally. Like I said, I'm probably very wrong. But we'll see.

I just really enjoy watching Mother and Father argue about their approach to parenting. Rather hysterical to watch two androids sound like typical new parents.

I think the Campion theory still holds up, if you remember in one of the flashbacks when Markus/Caleb is fighting the girl as a child they were given booster packs that gives them more strength. Who ever the mysterious character may be, I think they are using this type of technology to aid them in escaping/fighting.

I hear 'prophecy', I think about 4th dimensional being who doesn't experience time linearly. To them past, present and future are the same. That's why they know things before happening from our perspective... I see no point of having something like a prophecy in a sci-fi series rather than this.

I think mother is showing signs of going back to her old religious ways. After she learn about the real campion, father comments about her having religious thinking. She might end up sacrificing herself to help the children instead of fighting with the adults

Good analysis, it's everything I thought it would be...

Someone from the future coordinated the entire process to make it work. And that someone was Campion. The son of Mother is also the manufacturer of Mother.

This is probably the most fascinating series I've seen in awhile.

mother's heart is already broken since her reprogramming involved re-writing emotional "pathways" - they are not "she" and "he" but "it to serve and take care" and "it ubermofoultradeathraysupperweapon" - also "mother" has an obvious emotional "evolution" of sorts , and the ENEMY might be alien from the planet . the show is the among the best SyFy series so far ! finally !

Interested to see who or what has been keeping Tally alive.

It is amazing how episodes breakdowns were earlier than episodes in Europe.

I think creator campion cloned himself as one of the embryos, kid campion is his clone, that is why kid campion was having connections to the religion, genetic memory and I think creator campion program mother to name his clone campion. Creator campion was dying and with his newly found atheistic view, not believing In an afterlife, he wanted to live on through his clone.

I often just go to imdb to the production's main page and see how many episodes the various actors/characters are in. Very telling.

This is getting so good!!!! I agree father is great! Im ready for his backstory. We know mother was a death machine But what was father? He doesn't seem like the other androids. Maybe even Campion programmed him special in case mother went to crazy to take her down?

Father is just a base model ( so far ) pretty sure there maybe more to him - no other androids were successfully re-programmed yet here are these two. just an aside in battlestar glactica the machines believed in a "god" - so it would be interesting to see these machines and what they "believe"

It is interesting to note that Mother's name is Lamia, which means Vampire or Female Demon. However, if you read it like this "L'amia" it would mean the beloved. Or to pick it apart further La Mia (literally The Mine, or Mine, the one who belongs to me). These are interesting to note because she is a demon, but also the beloved of her creator. And the one who loves her children.

interesting point, the symbols of the two human powers the radiant sun and the alpha like letter are also the symbols of ancient Macedonia and Sparta respectively. The two were rivals until Phillip II, the father of Alexander the Great brought Sparta to heel. The training school of the youngest atheists shows a similar training strategy to Sparta as well.

Honestly I was looking forward to this show for a long time

I think the creature is tally who was raised by the four legged creatures. And therefore moves weird. I also think Campion is a clone of big campion.... And maybe Marcus’ wife will become pregnant and be killed. Foreshadowing with the scalpel being used to kill mothers....also the theme as mothers being killed as a sacrifice. Like the creature.

I watch this channel before watching the next episode.

I would have to guess she would have ultrasonic tech that is so powerful and accurate it can pinpoint areas of the brain to cause sleep or even instantly turning you into a blood splattered mess. Hence the sound wave animation when she screams. Currently this type of tech exists to kill tumors in the brain without surgery but is in not mainstream obviously.

Woah technically the only things we know about Kepler 22B is that is revolves around it’s star in 290 days, that it’s mass is almost double earth, and it’s close enough to its star that water COULD form. BUT THATS IT!!!

Nothing like a well paced story, the film industry could learn a lot from this production when it comes to Story.

Tallie looks the same when she disappeared so I don’t think she is alive or if she is what they are seeing is some sort of illusion. The parkour dude is most likely behind it and he can create something that deceives humans and androids.

I’d say they have different interests in genres.

What might be the significance, if any, of the simulation warning that 'Sim is not meant for Android use'?

What I love about this story is the main character, Travis Fimmel. When he was acting as Ragnar in Vikings, he questioned his own faith, and the Christian faith. His best friend was a Christian monk, called Athelstan. Close to his death he proclaimed the gods do not exist, and here he is, an undercover atheist leading the religious sect. It’s almost like a continuation of Vikings, ironically. I see it as him continuing his life with Lagertha, caring for the child Lagertha first lost (a son) when they were still together. Their “son” asked why have you both started talking to me? In my mind I was saying is that Ragnar (Travis), was waiting for Lagertha in Valhalla, and this is their story. Also to note, Lagertha was cursed to never be able to have a child again, and here she is, unable to give birth to life, again, in the “afterlife.” I’m sorry if this is cheesy, I just sort of pieced it together in my mind this way, haha. I love this show, because it reminds me of my life. The constant tug of war I have had mentally with religion and atheism. My family raised me as a Christian, but since I was young I always questioned, yet I seem to always have found my self back to it. Right now I’m agnostic, but as I’ve learned, I sometimes have experiences that has me become Christian again. I firmly believe science can one day answer all our questions, but religion is powerful, and dangerous-I feel as if this show is trying to portray that fact. He’s pretty much my least favourite character in the show.

My theory is that Campion the original is on the planet. That's why he's able to tell mother that a child is in danger in real-time. Downside of this theory is that soon Mother will dispose of father permanently if she discovers her lover is alive and present 💔 Another theory... Fake Marcus will become a mithraic fanatic and a formidable opponent to mother who so far remains unmatched.

Will this show be released on Blu-ray?

7:02 The person that impregnated Tempest is the guy under the helmet, no? Not this priest that Mother sees in the sim. In one of the earlier eps Tempest informs Mother that her rapist was scheduled to be executed, but since Mother supposedly killed everyone on the Ark, she actually got the job done earlier.

Both Campion and Paul fit the prophecy.

I've seen all the episodes and the show still has my interest. But.. I think they needed to make the individual episodes stronger for a weekly release schedule.Ive skimmed through a few and while I intend to watch the whole season. I can see dropping it if something better comes along.

It's perfectly fine as is. If you've skimmed through a few, you have not actually seen all episodes. What you're doing is akin to reading 1/4th of each chapter in a book hoping to pick out strong moments to justify actually reading the book. If you sit down & watch the show, like actually watch it. It hold it's own weight quite well and it's pacing is rather nice.

3:06 it looks more like a dodeceheydron - 12 sided symetrical shape (Like a 12 sided die)
