    I like your leg construction. The side, front and back rails are supported by the leg and the screws/bolts simply hold everything in place. Too many videos just have the rails bolted or screwed on. Good job.

    Wow that looks sturdy. I don't have all those tools unfortunately. I don't do enough wood working to justify a planer. Great video.

    Thanks! You really don’t need a planer for this project. Yes, it makes the pieces fit together better and look cleaner.. but with some good sanding, you could get a very similar result. You could do this entire project with a circular saw, a drill, and a sander. Happy building!

    I'm doing a minimal materials version with a 2x4 box frame, and just installing the slats on top...turned out great, strong enough for a couple or a heavy individual...

    Thanks! I was looking at that centre rail wondering if it was overkill on a twin bed - I know it's worth including for wider beds, but then you'd also do something sturdier with how the rail mounts to the frame - a centre leg is common, and a joist hanger offers substantially more support than the 3 screws at each end in the video. Given the span of a twin bed, and given it's built for one, seems entirely over the top to include a centre rail - the beds I'm used to seeing that kind of thing on are usually the equivalent of 2 twin mattresses side by side!

    If you were going to make this six seperate platforms that you places side by side (to have a sort of "Jenga" bedframe that's easier to move) would you change anything other than the lengths of the peices? For example would you downgrade to 2x2 and 2x4 or keep with 2x4 and 2x6 for the sides?

    The center support rail needs blocking underneath, being held up just by the sheer strength of screws isn’t quite enough.

  • @cmarax2

    @cmarax2

    Yeah. And the blocks they are screwed into are simply glued onto the frame. So essentially that Center rail is supported by glue. Other than that the rest of it was very solid.

    That’s a really good point. If this were for a larger bed-frame, I 100% agree. A queen or king would definitely need some under support. Given the shear number of 2x4s used, this thing didn’t need the central rail. If I were to do this again on a larger bed, I would correct the central rail joinery. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Jhon, soy latino y me interesa saber si me puedes facilitar las medidas de la madera y tornillos; Además la marca del pegamento que usaste o si algún día puedes hacer un vídeo sobre pegamentos. Eso nos ayudaría mucho a los principiantes como yo. Por otro lado, quiero felicitarte por tu trabajo en este video. Se ve muy bonito. Agradezco tu respuestas. Bendiciones desde El Paso, TX tu amigo, José.

    the only thing I liked is that the bed legs are the ones supporting the weight but other than that too much work with those little wood separating pieces, and using only glue to keep them attached. is a no no for me. I'll take what it helps me to build my bed , thanks for the video and bed legs idea..

    Legs are too high. There are no stoppers or mattress locks. The bed's gonna rock like hell when some "life" starts on it. But good work anyway.

    This design doesn't make any sense... the mattress should be inset into the frame at least a couple of inches. All you did here was build a table that you can put a mattress on.
