I’ve been listening to Rainbow since ‘76 and this is the best performance of these two great songs that I’ve yet heard. Blackmore’s solo is beautiful, inspired intense. Cozy Powell is on top of every change and is mega powerful here. This is Rainbow at its peak. Blackmore at his ‘75-‘76 peak. This lineup should have stayed together for the remainder of the ‘80s. They would have been boss.

This is rare, valuable, and simply the best. I met Ritchie twice. He is the greatest guitarist of all time and these two songs are the evidence.

hadn't heard this before. Brilliant!!! Cozy was the greatest!! Richie just loved to play...the perfect band, there will never be their like again..thankfully so much was recorded.

With these recordings of great performances but with almost no bass, you can add your own basslines. I use keyboard-bass. As long as you can hear some drums, it's possible to keep in time and replicate the work of Bain, Glover et al. It won't of course sound as good as the real thing, but when you consider how good an overdubbing job Glover did when the Donington '80 soundtrack turned out to have missing bass, it's a good aspiration, and good musical practice. 🙂
