When I was homeless I lived in my car. On cold nights, the rain was comforting. Didn't know how many times I'd hear the comforting sound of the rain on the car. Didn't realize I would miss it. Now I listen in my bed, with my wife. Helps sleep, reminds me of the hard times, makes you value the good times. Much love to anybody who has had to listen to this noise.

00:01 When I was a child, whenever it rained my mum would wake my brother, sister and me up (my dad worked night),turn off all the lights and turn the sofa to face the windows. We would all sit there with hot chocolate and listen to the storm while waiting to see the lightning, we lived on a hill and could see for miles. We all grew up to absolutely love thunderstorms and do similar things with our children. I found out recently that my mum hated them and was terrified but by waking us up and pretending she loved them she found she could cope.

I'm a serious night owl myself, so that's usually the time I go to bed. It's great because it makes you feel like you have the whole world all to yourself.

I've been listening to this for a while now. I love the combination of thunder and rain. The thunder is subtle, so it doesn't disturb you. It's very relaxing and helps me sleep. It also has probably saved my bf's life a few times as it blocks out his horrific snoring, so thank you from us both.

I play this every night it deeply helps my wondering mind and my bad anxiety I feel so calm and safe listening to this audio. My 3 month old baby struggles to settle at night too...sometimes screaming for hours at a time I feel so helpless but I remembered this and play it to him too and hes to sleep within 10 minutes ! Absolutely amazing I cannot thank the person who created this enough ! I wish all who listen to this audio a very calm and content sleep. Love and light to all xx

I use this to help ease the eternal background noise of my brain. It helps when I'm reading or talking with friends or writing or anything like that. I came back here after a year and I'm glad of it. I turned 18 some time ago and my father gave me a book. It was written by my mother, who died 6 years ago. I love the rain so much and it lets my hair always curly. Since I was a kid my mother combed my hair with rainwater and I still do it my self, it looks so naturally. The rain makes me relaxed. We need rain now for the animals and nature, please let it rain!!

Thank you Charlotte just to let people know l had bladder cancer throat n tongue cancer I had 5 operations 31 days of radiation n 7 sessions of chemotherapy after 18months 0f healing I've gone from 47kilos to 77 kilos I do gym 6days a week n walk 3to5 kilometres a day I'm fit healthy n happy life is to be lived not wasted I'm glad to have a second chance

Science has proven that natural sounds have the effect of supporting the healing of diseases related to the nervous system. I turn to natural sounds to find peace and freedom from anxiety. This is so great! I always used to get anxiety in the dark. I've grown very sensitive to light because of my autism, so I couldn't sleep with any lights on either. These videos have really helped me relax in the dark. Now I hardly ever feel anxiety in the dark anymore. I actually feel peaceful. It means such a great deal to me :)

I'm autistic too, I'm glad you could find comfort in the rain. I like pure darkness, I use blackout curtains and blinds to shut out all the light from outside, and I cover all the small lights in my room. Light stresses me out if it's more than a tiny amount, especially while I'm trying to sleep.

This is the best 'rain sounds for sleeping' video. I use it to go back in time to the late 1970s, with a memory from early childhood. My mother and I arrive at an old rural villa one rainy afternoon in the middle of winter. It has been raining non-stop for hours and when we enter the home it is very dark inside: dim light, deep red or brown walls and wood panelling and small rooms that seem to run off each other. The people who live there remain unseen, or forgotten. They are my mother's friends and strangers to me. Their presence is only apparent because a fire has been lit and there is a pot of mulled wine on the stove. I am a quiet spectator but I experience the chill damp air as well as the warmth of the fire and the intoxicating aroma of the spiced wine. I almost disappear into the low light of a winter's afternoon inside a barely lit, cavernous dwelling. For some reason, I return to this place and time when I need to slip away into oblivion.

I'm down in the South East not far from the coast waiting for storm Ciara to hit. I'm looking forward to this sound being real on my window through sunday. It's a little warmer this end, but it was a very frosty, foggy, chilli morning walking home from work at 3am. The wind is already picking up the pace now. Never thought I'd see a bomb cyclone hit the UK. Stay safe up there.
