Rain Man Official Trailer #1 - Tom Cruise, Dustin Hoffman Movie (1988) HD
Selfish yuppie Charlie Babbitt's father left a fortune to his savant brother Raymond and a pittance to Charlie; they travel cross-country.
Directed by Barry Levinson and starring Dustin Hoffman, Tom Cruise, Gerald R. Molen, Jack Murdock, Michael D. Roberts. A sensible drama about the reunification of two very different brothers and their struggle to stay together. Dustin Hoffman won an Oscar for best actor for his memorable performance as the autistic Raymond.
MGM - 1988

Beautiful movie. First time you really see how talented Tom is ---- as he is able to hold his own with Hoffman.
This is one of my favourite films of all time. I simply love this film!

Just arrived to America to study in college and I was feeling homesick, I went to cinema to see this movie in November or December 1988, I laughed I cried, I also remembered my brothers as being away from home at age of 18. The movie also embedded in me the life of 80s and American culture at that time which is still with me today. I don’t watch movie twice except this movie I watched it many times. Good memories.
The 80's saw the best actors in the best movies.
My son diagnosed since 1994 at 2 years old. This movie helped us to understand what autism was about. Excellent movie.
A very nice movie that also makes me feel nostalgic. The brilliant acting, directing, cinematography and score aside this movie also perfectly encapsulated the feeling of the 80's and my childhood. The casual tone and realistic charm really shines through and seems to be missing in all films today. Everything is so clinical feeling now. Maybe it's the nostalgia and because I'm looking through the rose tinted glasses of childhood but movies weren't afraid to depict simple things and life seemed to be simpler and more friendly and real back then.

Hi cyba_IT I really loved your post. I couldn’t agree more with your comment. I don’t think that we ( people of our generation) should look to long at nostalgia. As you said it was a brilliant film, and I watch it at least once a year. When my children were old enough we sat and watched it together and they love it too. Other films we really enjoy watching are, Forrest Gump, The green mile, Home Alone 1 and 2, It’s a wonderful life, shawshank redemption, and, A Christmas carol ( Albert finney and the narration with Jim Carey.) to name a few. Once again, thanks and be well. Les
I have a brother like "Rain Man". We now live in Switzerland. Good times.
This is a phenomenal movie ! I ended up becoming very emotional halfway through the film due to a noticeable similarity with that of someone i know.

Same. I've always loved this movie, but saw it through a completely different lens after my grandson was recently diagnosed with autism. He's very intelligent and loving, but mostly non verbal among other things similar to Raymond. It breaks my heart some days wishing I could just sit down and ask him how his day went or if he's sad or having fun or tell him I love him and know that he knows what it means.

A timeless classic.
Dustin Hoffman is a great actor Tom Cruise too they are both fantastic back then this is a awesome movie ❤❤
One of the classics! A Definite Must See.
Great movie! I looked it this afternoon. And my tears was running. Great story! Great playing. The movie is very moving!
Tom Cruise is so incredibly good in roles outside of action, too. "Mission: Impossible" is legendary, but I would appreciate him in other genres now and then, too.
I don't always burst to tears but when I imagined little Charlie say 'Bye bye Rain Man' to his brother when he were taken I cried a lot. Fuc*king Ninjas cutting the onions again T_T
Never seen this movie and this movie legit represents me and my brother I’m his caregiver and I’m 25 and he’s 11 been doing it for 5 years amazing movie
One of the best movies of all time.
for me i have a little brother with mild autism and this movie hits close to home with me I took care of him all my life so far but alot of moments that happen in this movie make me laugh cause i think of us and the ending were he Tom say I'm glad I have you for my Brother, Dustin doesn't say anything but in a way says the same thing by putting his head on Toms and it always makes me cry.
This is the only movie I cried a lot from. The love a brother can show and overcome his own doubts or misconceptions, and just truly love and support his brother is unmatched ❤
Literally just watched this for the first time, amazing movie
Hoffman captures those moments spot on, and there's always a comedic side to it (even in real life.) Saying this, I'm autistic myself so I'm socially "allowed" to. ;) We're hilarious really.

I watched this on Hulu a couple days ago, and, having worked with many students who have autism in my high school class, this was an AWESOME movie!! Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman each played their parts really well; this may be the BEST Tom Cruise movie I've seen so far (I also love "Jerry Maguire", "Top Gun", "Days of Thunder" and "Rock of Ages", too)
In both this movie, and A Few Good Men, Tom Cruise proved this amazing ability of holding his own, up against these legends of acting.

I so loved this movie. I still do. I'm a fan of Tom Cruise and it's kind of sad that he doesn't do much quality movies like this anymore where he plays an intense character. He was good in "A Few Good Men" although Jack Nicholson stole the show. That "you can't handle the truth" moment was classic.

Dustin Hoffman was an excellent performer in that role.
Saw this movie first time in 1995. just saw it recently 32 years later after released. I can attest to Raymonds character. my son is ASD and non-verbal, most of the neurological ailments that Charlie has i live through those daily with my son. I really enjoyed this movie, half tears, half victory lap just to see Charlie.. I did not understand 25 yrs ago why Raymond was cut from the will, but now i do: Charlie needed every penny to make it to his golden years.. and like Charlie-n-Raymonds dad I also plan to leave every nickel to my son....

I freaking love this movie and I can't belive I saw it for the first time ever yesterday. Since I have very mild autism, I seriously think this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. If I had seen the trailer before the movie I probably wouldn't want to watch it, beacuse it makes Raymond look like a stupid person
@eleegee
2 жыл бұрын
But he’s not stupid, that’s the problem. He’s a stereotypical autistic genius, with savant syndrome, which is an extremely rare condition to even have. Most people with autism don’t have it and most autistic people have an average IQ. Most autistic people also have feelings, which Raymond barely displays. It’s fine to have autistic characters who are this way, but since it is a spectrum we should be getting representation for people on *every* end of the spectrum. Not just the emotionless end which we’ve seen time and time again (The Good Doctor, The Big Bang Theory, Atypical, etc). It’s a good film, I just wish this wasn’t the only type of autistic character we were getting. -a very opinionated autistic person (:
4 Oscar award won this movie.. Awesome film

Was probably in my opinion the most powerful acting duel between Hoffman and Cruise in any film for decades... 😎...Just saying

I love this movie so much
A very touchwarming masterpiece of film, based on the true story of Kim Peek, the actual Rain Man. An excellent Cast with Hoffman nailing the role despite the difficulty being expected, Hoffman's influence and his depiction were perfectly done, and deservingly of it awards, I don't think anyone else could be cast other than him, with Tom Cruise, and Golino, just as great to the performance, an excellent soundtrack, storyline, dialog and effects. Overall the film was perfection in capturing our hearts, and respect for the Rain Man. Obviously, a bit pushed the story is in comparison to the true story, but that's Hollywood. Not a single dull moment, whether be the Poker Scene to the simple scenes of them at home, Covering comedy, action, hearts, anger, sadness and just loads of emotions, by the end of it, your left with so much sympathy, admiration and respect. A film that does not deserve to be spoiled, but a must-watch. 1.16.23
