Railroad Switching Grain Elevator Spur! Truck Too Close To RR, Old Locomotives, Railroad Bridge Etc
Working A Grain Elevator Spur! Short Line Railroad Switching With Old Classic Locomotives On Cincinnati Eastern Railroad. Semi Truck Surprised By Close Train, Train Passes Over Railroad Bridge & Top And Tail Action. These trains are in Ohio, in the Winchester, Macon, Sardinia and Mount Orab areas.
The railroad spur in Winchester, Ohio is being switched with an MP15DC locomotive. This is a rare video because that little switcher has not been on the grain spur very much. We also see an EMD SD45 that used to operate on the CCET Peavine Line. That locomotive and the GP49s in this video are long gone. This video was filmed a little over 3 years ago. I never posted it until now although one of the scenes in this video was used.
The Winchester Ag Services spur only allows locomotives with up to 4 axles. That is why you see the SD45 stay on the mainline. Norfolk Southern Railroad and CCET have had minor derailments on this spur. The rail is light pound 1920s stick rail.
We also see trains in various other towns along the 69+ route mile line that is leased from NS. When I filmed this video it was rare for trains to go past Winchester so that is why you will hear me say this is only the second train of the year past Winchester. Now that the rock shuttle is running and McCoy Lumber in Peebles gets cars, the line runs all the way to the quarry past Peebles on a regular basis.
This video shows the train in "Top And Tail" mode. That means that a locomotive is on both ends of the train. The trailing locomotive is just being drug along. I chased the train a long way since I knew at the time that this video would quickly become a rare video.
This video actually has 2 parts in it. The second part of this video shows a chase that I did back in 2016 and never posted. The first part showing the switching was filmed in 2020.
Filmed January 8, 2020 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Rare gems from the Señor Jaws video library. It's kinda like watching old home movies. You've aged a bit, but not too bad. Gracias. RT sends, Puebla, México...

Any idea why they switched from double headed to push pull? Does the trail unit just use the DPU radio then?

@@icebolt0864 Not sure but that would be my guess because there didn't appear to be anybody inside operating it when it was on the tail end. At least that I could see.
Wow, a Soo Line car have not seen one of them forever.
Magnificent catches of the trains coming by and pass, I like it 5 stars, keep up the great work, my friend, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.

Just like the song "What a Difference a Day Makes" three to seven years reflects the no cars road now being engulfed in foliage as well as grade crossings that now have signals and gates. The consist of DJTX covered hoppers in green AG Products paint was a new step for them having been gondolas and hoppers for scrap hauling prior to that. Today those cars have either been resold or painted Gray and now haul soda ash out of Wyoming. Even the truck fits into the equation as YRC was a short lived post-merger name for Yellow Roadway Corp and today only the Yellow is left. Judging by the sudden movement the driver thought. "Yikes! Really Close!"

I don't think the truck was all that close. I think he heard the train blowing for the crossing and thought it was a warning that he was going to get hit.
Great flash back video JT! Cool seeing an old Soo Line car! 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚂💯👍🇺🇸
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 🖐🖐🙏
Look at the Soo Line hopper,
Cet should have kept the gp49s...especially the black and red one! They were beautiful locomotives but ya gotta love the "new" geeps!

Thanks for posting the older videos, Jaw Tooth.
Nice blast from the past from my favorite short line RR. Many Thanks Jaw Tooth!
Love the "look back" on the CCET. Thank you JT.
2414. Needs more care ...wish i could have put number on ...looks like 2474 ...love the old locos ..kool sir !
Love to see some good old RR switching . Seeing and hearing an MP15DC mixing it up with a big six axle SD45, reminds me of small dogs thinking they can take on the big dogs, but it’s also cool to see older EMDs still having a purpose and still doing their job. Really enjoy seeing your furry friends playing and having fun, and Norfie looks like she wants to be the center of attention. Cool job JT. Appreciate your efforts.

Love the old switcher locomotive in the front and the old soo line car great catch
I'm in the United Kingdom, that small locomotive on the back reminds me of a train i had in my train collection, it was small used for shunting and called 'Nelly'.
The little black switcher is back!
I always liked those blue locomotives.

I like that MP15 EMD switcher. Don't see that many. Thanks for your time. Pete in South Carolina 10 miles from the oldest rr junction in the world, Branchville, S.C.
Soo Line? Nice catch.
That was the first time I have seen ditch lights on a switcher. That SD-45 was different because it did not have the flared radiators on the side. They were flat. Even the SD-45 that were down graded with smaller power kept the large radiators. Steven Sipes
Awesome Jaw Tooth enjoying watching too and enjoy the side show too 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😎♥️♥️ AWESOME VIDEO Jaw Tooth awesome locomotives too
@ 4:30... those MP15s are nice engines for switching with... i hired on with chicago and northwestern back in 93 out of milwaukee butler yard... back then they had a LOT of those ancient ex-rock island GP7s, decent units but like switching with an old studebaker... they were tired, pooped out engines... i got bumped outta milwaukee and had to work in another terminal called janesville... there they had nothing but MP15s... wow the difference between using the MP15 and the GP7s was stark... night and day difference
Hey jaw tooth I'm the same as you. Running errands and I see a train my errands are gonna be put on hold while I chase train . Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️👍
Love the strong purr of an EMD pulling hard. To my ears a GE sounds like a flatulent cow in comparison.
OMG! Some great Old Gold It's too bad that SD45 is gone. It would be a great help on the rock trains.

They have gone through a lot of locomotives. Today the main locos are the two GP15-1s and the SD40-2. The little MP15DC doesn't get on the main very often other than moving rock cars for unloading

That 2807 definitely made a trip. Former Alaska Railroad.
@beeble2003

As did 2806. (Actually, all GP49s were originally in Alaska -- no other railroad ordered them.)
And I had already thought that the CCET had bought another locomotive from the MRL. I had read your video description too late. There is also something about these recordings. Just how narrow the track radius to the grain store is. You hit it perfectly. Greetings from Berlin/ Germany. Sven
Good morning Jaw Tooth 😊

That’s a cute little old black train
With the proximity to the railroad, was the red tenement, for lack of a better description, a hotel, rooming house for the train crews back in the day?
I think it's interesting how the numbers on the switcher were spray painted on like someone tagged it.

Yes, the truck is in another video and I made a short of the guy with the hand signals. I miss those blue engines. The other one was rarely used and I only have a few videos of it.
I remember you filming there at that dead end street by Winchester Ag before. It's a good place to watch that switching. Do they use a 2-axle for the track condition or is that curve an old one that's too tight for 3? What used to be on that siding there on Eastwood Rd? Was it a depot? I bet you found that thumb drive you misplaced. lol Thanks, JT. You know I never miss Jaw Tooth video.
